View 1 RepliesI updated from 2.1 to 2.2 (Using the force method on this site), and now my USB cable will not allow file transfer. This kind of sucks, seeing as how I used that to put the update.zip on the phone in the first place. Now, I need a way to transfer files between my Windows 7 PC, and my Froyo Droid.I've looked through the forums a bit, and I've seen someone suggest ES File Explorer for this purpose. I searched the market, and I wasn't able to find it. Does anyone have an alternate suggestion, or a way for me to get this one to see if it will work?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was trying to get a file (700MB) from LAN through ES File Explorer app, everything works fine until the phone goes to sleep, after that it stops. I've set Screen Timeout to be disabled, and it works fine now, only now the phone has to be awake all the time. Is there any way the file transfer not to stop when the phone goes to sleep?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to allow data transfer over a wireless networ between the galaxy and a computer? I currently can't find my transfer cable and when I email myself songs and download them onto my phone, they are stored as a .mpx which play fine untill the phone is turned off or otherwise refreshes. After this, when trying to play the .mpx files an error message saying"No applications can perform this action" despite the songs playing fine only minutes before. However it would be damn useful just to connect my phone to the network, but while it connects, it doesn't appear in the devices connected to the network.

Is there any way to be online (wireless tether) and on a call at the same time?

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got my X today and I'm having a problem. When someone calls me, before the ringtone, a female voice announces "Verizon Wireless!," and then it proceeds to the ring.
It's obnoxious as hell. Anyone know how to turn that "feature" off?
The main reason i wanted a rooted phone was so i could connect to my laptops ad hoc network and use a program for wireless keyboard and mouse. i cant really afford the real thing at the moment and with my laptop hooked up to my flat screen its kind of necessary to have..
So ive rooted my phone and tried a few roms. currently i have this one: [ROM] [05/18/2010] Tainted Vanilla V1.4 OVERCLOCKED - xda-developers
I always run into the same problem though. wired or wireless, i cant get it to connect right. wired never works in any way but i dont really care about that. wireless however shows some signs of working. it shows some data has been sent, not received though. and my computer will detect and connect to it, but seems to lose the signal after a few moments. when i bring up a browser it doesnt even look like something might load. it just says im offline. could someone help me with this?
The other part of this problem is i really just want to connect to my computers ad hoc network and use a wireless keyboard and mouse program. none of them seem that great unfortunately.. recommendations are appreciated. but my biggest issue is that i cant seem to connect to an ad hoc network. i believe my phone detected it only once while i was on the "white widow" rom, but could never quite connect..
this is the easiest way to transfer files to your Droid that I have found so far. Super Easy enjoy!! Motorola Media Link - Motorola USA
View 5 Replies View RelatedI finally changed the voicemail system on my Hero from Sprint's "visual voicemail" (which is misleading because it doesn't transcribe voicemails) to Google Voice. It's nice to see my transcribed voicemails now. However, when I actually want to hear them (if the transcription didn't work well), it only comes through the external speaker; the speaker on the back of the phone. I went into Google Voice settings and under "Voicemail Playback" I tried the only two options: "Play via Handset" and "Play via Speaker." Unfortunately, both play through the speaker phone speaker. How do I change it to the phone speaker? I also can't adjust the volume, so the whole world hears my voicemails through the external speaker.

Can i record a simple voice message and send it via MMS? It was pretty simple to do with a cell phone...
I saw that the eris comes with a voice recorder, but i recorded a message and was not able to send it.
Any ideas?
Also, when sending pictures via MMS, it always resizes them and obviously the person receiving doesn't get the same quality. I realize that sending via Gmail doesn't resize, but i send to other cell phones a lot.
I'm thinking the only fix is lowering the camera resolution? I think that lowering the resolution is still better than having it resized for the message. Has anyone tried lowering the resolution to a point that the picture does not need to be resized for MMS?
Same thing for Video messages.. can't even send them. Not sure if it's HAndcent, or the file is just to big
I changed the voice mail number from *86 (version default) to my Google voice number. This works when I am not answering the phone and I the caller gets connected to my GV account. But when my phone is not in coverage the caller gets my version voice mail. Appreciate if someone can correct my settings or suggest any app that does it. I am from Windows mobile world and missing those settings when you can define several settings for voice mail (unanswered, rejected, unavailable etc...)
View 5 Replies View RelatedI tried searching for the question I'm about to ask and didn't find any threads so here it goes. Can someone post the steps to setting up Google Voice as visual voice mail for the Captivate? I know it's probably something very simple but I just can't figure it out ( yes, I'm a bit slow ).
View 24 Replies View RelatedI'm sure its been discussed and all but I think that the voice recognition software is capable of being much more advanced. There should be a way to just give your phone a voice command without having to manually open an app. It probably would have to be running in the background the whole time, analyzing everything it hears, so it may use a lot of battery and cpu.therefore it may be easier to have a starter phrase to tell it to listen more carefully. for example: say the said app is running in the background, listening to every noise, but it wouldn't begin to really analyize until you say something like; "hey, phone!" or "yo, droid!" (or whatever tag phrase). I don't know what would have to go into an app like that for it to work but hey, if an app like that was designed, then I think the android would be a really smart smartphone. In the end thanks for all the awesome apps you guys are already developing. be sure to tell me when someone develops something like that though.

View 7 Replies View RelatedVoice playback is basically shot. It plays back completely broken up and muffled with mostly static and crackling. It's to the point that it has to be broken, it's so bad, you can't even make a single word out. I have tried every which way of speaking into it and it is not a poor quality issue, I believe it is just not functioning properly. Phone calls and music playback are excellent and voice recognition is fine but voice playback is broken. I am wondering if it's the SD card since that is where it saves.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to use the voice recognition api in order to handle a known set of commands yet? VR matches this against a specific valid vocabulary containing only "yes & no", and then returns "no". Can you do this yet? Last time I looked you could not. The VR would match against a full vocabulary and user saying "no" would come back with things like "snow" and so on.The other BIG problem was that if the VR got no match a "Retry" dialog was displayed, this needed to be dismissed by using the screen, which meant the the voice control process failed at this point, terminally.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a stock EVO with the latest OTA update (software version: 1.47.651.1) and it has never been rooted. All I want to do now is be able to use wireless tether (with multiple laptops) via my EVO. What is the easy/best way to achieve this? I know the first thing I need to do is root the EVO. Should I do this using Unrevoked, or using something like SimpleRoot? For my purposes, what's the difference b/t these two methods?
Next, is wireless tether an app that I have to download somewhere? If so, which is the best one (if there are more than one). Or will this feature surface automatically after rooting the phone. Or does it come on some ROM that I need to flash? And finally, what is this Radio/WiMax patch thing that everyone is trying to put on their phone?
