Sprint HTC Hero :: Touch Screen Not Responding To Hyperlinks
Jun 5, 2010I very recently got my HTC Hero and everything was working fine until a few days ago. For some reason, my phone does not respond fully when I click on certain hyperlinks. For instance, I can type in a google search, but I can't click on any of the results, but I can click on the "Options" tab next to each hyperlink. As I click on these links, they will become underlined, but nothing happens. I tried a factory reset on calibration and that did not work.

Feb 7, 2010I've had my hero for about 10 days now. So far I am loving it way more than my old winmo phone.That said, I find that the screen is just not nearly as touch sensitive as my ipod touch and im kind of disappointed. I have to press things sometimes 2 or 3 times to get it go. Especially in the corners
1. I did do the text alignment delay
2. I have a screen protector. Its a $20 Invisible Shield by ZAGG that is off the shelf. Could that be causing the slow and unresponsive screen? What do you guys use?
3. Does the hero really NEED a screen protector? I previously had an HTC touch DIAMOND and i didn't use a screen protector evre and it got scratched up to HELL. Just for reference, I used my ipod almost in the same way (in and out of jeans pocket, not with keys, etc) and it didn't scratch AT ALL.Any way to improve this would make me way less disappointed here.
Sprint HTC Hero :: Touch Screen Sensitivity Sometimes Drops Very Low
Feb 20, 2010Sometimes the touchscreen is just fine, but other times it falls in sensitivity.I find myself have to press down hard on the screen in order for it to recognize the touch.This has been the case both with or without a screen protector.Anyone else experience this? Can this be improved in any way by the future 2.1 update?

Jun 6, 2010First post here. I've tried searching for this issue but have come up with nothing, so if it's been posted, please point me in the right direction.I've had my Hero since January (Sprint) and this only came up in the last couple of days. About a week ago (05/28/10) my Hero froze and Sprint issued me a new phone which they updated to 2.1. On Thursday (06/03/10) I noticed the sound when I use my touch screen is much louder than it used to be. I'm almost positive the new phone wasn't quite this loud when I first got it. The sound I'm talking about is not the 'tone' sound as I've disabled that, but the 'ticking' sound when you launch an app or shortcut. Does this make sense? Does anybody know what I'm talking about? Is there a way to make this sound quieter? I'd rather not disable it completely as I like a little bit of feedback that a button has been hit.

Dec 4, 2009Anyone else have screen issues with a different brand charger? I use a blackberry at work and it seems when I use that one, it is the only time I lose all screen functionality. It starts going haywire. If I touch the A key, it will select the N or something completely off the wall. If I unplug it, wait about 60 seconds, it works again. Wonder if anyone else has an issue with other brand chargers? Going to toss this one but thought I'd let people know in case they run into the same issue.

Mar 31, 2010i've been watchin' YouTube via the bookmarks w/o a problem. well i today i switched it "desktop" view b/c i wanted to share a video from there (which i did). however i do not see a link where i can switch back to either "mobile or touch" views. also the YouTube app that comes w/ the phone has YET to work since i got the phone. is this (app not working) common? & can some1 tell me how to switch back to touch view? i'm hoping that i do not have to reset my phone.

Nov 28, 2009I currently have a Sprint Touch Pro and I'm getting tired of the lag and other problems, with my sprint upgrade and with the money I could get from selling my touch pro, I could get a Hero for next to nothing, my question is, is it worth it to upgrade to the hero, even though it has the same processor, ram, etc as my touch pro, or should I wait for the next sprint android phone?

I was thinking about putting one on my new Sprint HTC Hero, but I remember it having kind of a tacky, gummy, sticky feel to it...kind of resistant to sliding your finger over it smoothly. That doesn't matter to me whatsoever when I'm not using a touch screen, but has anyone used one on a Hero? I don't want to buy one and find out it makes my phone harder to use.Specifically, I've just gotten pretty good at using SlideIT (wish I could try Swype), and I have a feeling that with an InvisibleSHIELD it will be much harder to accurately move my finger to the right spots on the screen at the right times. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Feb 23, 2010Almost every day when I wake up I check my phone and 9 times out of 10 the touch screen does not work. I cannot make a call or check anything. I have to push a lot of buttons and take out the battery and generally wait a while before my expensive phone to start to work. Is there a fix for this? I've already had to go to sprit to do a hard reset because the phone got, "kicked off the network" for some reason the sprint people could not explain. Any solution for the screen issue?

May 21, 2010Today I took my Sprint HTC Hero to a Sprint store to upgrade to Android 2.1. In my opinion, I don't think it was worth upgrading the software. I really liked the options in 1.5 more especially the camera app. Any way, after getting home, my batter was almost dead. I pluged the micro usb cable into my Hero and attempted to charge it via an a/c charger. It started to charge from 10% slowly but then only went to 22% and stopped and stayed there for 2 hours. The back of my Hero was REALLY hot. I shut off the phone and let it cool and tried again. Same thing happened. I noticed that when you are using the phone and charging it in 2.1, the battery starts to die and it gets hot even quicker.Shutting the phone off and charging didnt help. What did and is still working, is putting the phone in Airplane mode, killing unnecessary running apps/widgets with the Advanced Task Killer by ReChild and then proceding to charge the phone.After leaving it like this for 30 minutes, the back of the phone was no longer hot and the battery percent went up from 22% to 33%, it is continuing to charge now.If you are having this issue, I suggest you use this method to charge your phone until the bug is fixed.This is such a pain because if your using Sprint Navigation in the car and your battery is about to die,you cannot charge it.The phone will remain on after using a car charger to charge it but the battery percent wont increase and it will get really hot.I guess we have to charge the phone before every use from now on? Android 2.1 is a lot of bugs. They made us wait this long for it and they have still failed to fix the major issues that were supposed to be fixed with this update IMO.

The speed has increased, but it's nothing to write home about. Mar 24, 2010My phones battery died last night and now my phone can do almost nothing. It will turn on but I have no signal just a x and anytime I try to use almost anything I get a force close error. Everything from trying to dial a number to opening google maps. It seems like almost everything included with the phone will not work. I tried a couple of games just to check and they seem to work ok. Does anyone know how to get my phone working again or if a reset will fix this, or do I need to take it to Sprint? My phone is not rooted and has died before with no ill effects.

Mar 1, 2010A month or so back I started running mine with GPS toggled ON all the time. (For apps to find a lost Hero it seemed the only effective way to find it was if GPS was on). GPS is not powered (or maybe very low powered?) UNLESS the GPS Symbol is showing at top of screen?
I've noticed NO difference in battery life with GPS toggled ON vs OFF over the last month. GPS (when toggled ON) appears to be actually turned on or off by particular Apps that use it.
Anyone? Am I correct?
It seems to be "common knowledge" and I think Android even says to toggle it OFF to save battery life but this seems to be not true?
I DO have an App that does turn GPS on but does NOT turn it off when I exit, which does drain the battery until I manually correct, which could be a problem, but I do see the GPS icon so I know it's on and draining.
