Sprint HTC Hero :: Facebook Manual Sync - Android 2.1

So i see that everyone is having isues with syncing Their facebook contacts to their contact list but I have the hero and am very content with it. I was on 1.5 until earlier today when I upgraded to 2.1. My question is that when I had 1.5 i manually linked my phones contact list with the persons facebook page. Now with 2.1 I want to manully do the same thing but my phone isn't even populating the list of Facebook friends so I can't even pick anyone.

Ever since I flashed to this ROM, I haven't been able to sync none of my contacts through the People app even though it says "all contacts synced" within Accounts & Sync. When I try to match a contact with their facebook account, "no matches" show and I don't even have a list of who I can choose.
Does this have something to do with the PRL not being 60663? Mines says 60662. I've tried every solution that was said in the forums. Delete then restart then readd the account. Still nothing.
Should I just reflash? I don't want to but my contacts look so boring without their pictures and statuses

Is seems like only contacts I have saved in my Google contacts are being linked. I thought The Hero would sync all information from my Facebook contacts. So even if I have not saved them I would be able to access their information on my phone, similarly to Palm's Synergy. Am I doing something wrong or is this the way it works?

anyone experience this within the last hour or so?I noticed that i had to sign back into my account on "Social Networking" in settings, but nothing is syncing back up. they are all still sync'd (if you go into a contact on the computer, there is a "note" in the "notes" section showing the link), but nothing is showing up. I'm guessing eventually it will download everything again and I just need to give it time, and I'm also sure it's a Facebook issue thing, since they just updated and tweaked their UI, but i was curious if anyone else noticed this.

Anyway to initiate they sync with ALL CONTACTS like it did during the initial setup?I imported my exchange contacts and deleted the gmail ones now I have no facebook sync with my contacts. I can sync them individually, but that would take forever.I know you can do them each independently. but I want to do ALL of them at once like it did when I first got my phone.Anyone know how to sync ALL OF THEM like it did in the beginning?

Home screen>settings>social networks>facebook>log in>won't log in. It gives me a message saying "The service is currently unavailable. Do you want to try again? Yes or No". I've been 'trying again' since last night.

Thanks to some advice you have given me I am now running CM6 and love it.I have had almost no problems getting everything set up and working except for one intermittent problem.Facebook syncing with my contacts.Some contacts sync, others do not. And there names are matching Facebook. I know in Sense you can search and link. Is there something I'm missing?I've dug through settings and can't find anything to link or sync the existing contacts that didn't link up.

i just updated to 2.1 and i imported my gmail contacts but since my facebook account is added to it decided to add facebook contacts..i keep trying to delete my contacts but it says too much even when i delete a couple at a time i keep deleting all of them then i import from my backup contacts on sd and it still brings me my fb ones somehow even though they arent on there Google contact sync doesnt sync anything at all its broken i just want my google contacts synced not my facebook contacts there are soem more random facebook contacts that it wont let me delete in my contacts and they dont show up in all contacts.

I just rooted my phone and loaded a 2.1 ROM (Damage Control v2.08). Everything seems to be working great. I went into my contacts (reloaded through MS Exchange) and noticed that some of the Facebook photos were auto linked to a contact, but some were not. I am guessing the ones that did not do not have a name that matches exactly did not load.With the stock phone, I was able to manually select the Facebook friend I wanted to associate with my contact and it added the picture.With 2.1, when I try to manually select a Facebook contact through "Link Facebook Profile", the screen doesn't list anyone to choose from.It is just blank and says "no matches found".Has anyone else had this problem? I'm trying to figure out how to manually link people. I can log into Facebook with no problem and everything there seems to work.

I need some serious help. Ever since Facebook released its newest version my contact storage has sky rocketed. i only have 137 contacts, i orginally had all my facebook contacts synced, after the update they remained in the contact list but i lost the ability to view the contact picture or link it to a contact. i set the app to sync only phone contacts yet it keeps adding duplicate contacts and contact information. for example i have some contacts that now have 8 to 10 entries or i will have one contact their information like organization or email have multiple entries. ive cleared the data several times and even set it not to sync and it seems to continue to happen. is anyone having these issues or knows of a work around? at this point im relegated to hard reset and start from scratch? my phone isn't rooted but im willing to root if their is a work around that way?

I wiped my phone and this time decided not to integrate Facebook sync with my contacts. The whole dialer/contacts application runs so much more smoothly without Facebook sync installed. Anyone else experience this?

Mine isn't - since yesterday. No mail arrives and a manual sync doesn't help. Have tried resetting the caches (x2) in Applications and it will eventually re-sync (but maybe only on wireless), however new mail still does not arrive. Have powered off, etc. as you would expect. Is anyone else seeing this? I'm based in London using Three. Any ideas how I can kick it back into life?

Finally rooted my hero to damagecontrol 2.07 and I must say it rocks. My question is, how can I update the PRL? I saw a link on another site but it was deleted on rapidshare. This was some type of manual update. I have tried to update it after I installed the ROM but it will not update.

On my phone I have the Facebook app downloaded from the market. I also noticed that the phone comes bookmarked with Facebook.
So here is my question, under Menu>Settings>Social Network> Facebook appears there. I have that set to update every 12 hours.
HOWEVER, my actual Facebook App is set to update every 2 hours.
So... does the settings under Menu>Settings>Social Network>Facebook control my facebook app or just the bookmark that comes pre-installed on the phone?
I am trying to save battery life, and I noticed that the settings under Menu>Settings>Social Network>Facebook were set to update every hour, but I had the settings under the downloaded app to update every two hours. My goal is to have only one facebook medium updating so I don't drain battery life!

I just cleared all my browsing history, cache, form data and all that stuff. Then I went to my bookmarks, where I have the touch.facebook.com bookmarked. I type in my username and password and tap the "login" key. I see the green status bar at the bottom of the screen start to go, but the page just loops. It does not login. Just keeps refreshing... if that makes sense. What am I doing wrong ?

I just finished linking most of my phone contacts to their facebook account, and now i want to get all their birthdays into my google calendar, which i thought it did automatically when you linked a google contact to a facebook contact.So was looking for an app to do this and found this one:

The problem is then, that i live in Denmark where google/ HTC? haven't opened for the paying market, so i can only use free apps unless i root my Hero, which i won't.So do you guys know any similar programs that can do this, or a way i can get this app without rooting? I don't mind paying the 1$, I'm just not able to.

I have 3 Gmail accounts that are constantly syncing and its draining my battery. Where is the option to set accounts to manual? As in, I'll refresh when I care.
I've found the option for number of days to sync (1-All), but that's not what I want. Did they move this? I used to be able to find it...

After the update to Android 2.1 on my HTC Hero, like many other people, I had problems syncing my phone contacts to my facebook contacts. The process com.htc.bgp constantly force closed, and no linking could be made or is some cases only a part of the facebook contacts were synced. Different fixes has been suggested by users online but none of them worked. But after a lot of trying, a combination of these fixes finally solved the problem for me. Now all my facebook contacts are available to link to my phone contacts. Here's what I did and what you can try:
1. On your computer, go to Facebook Account Application settings. Remove applications Facebook for Android and HTC Sense. Log out of Facebook.
2. On your phone, remove any all Facebook programs or widgets you might have installed.
3. Go to Settings Accounts and delete your Facebook for HTC Sense account. The settings Background data should be checked and Auto-sync unchecked.
4. Go to Settings Applications Manage applications. Enter each of the following applications and click Clear data:
a. Calender
b. Calender Storage
c. com.htc.socialnetwork.accountmanager
d. com.htc.socialnetwork.provider
e. Facebook for HTC Snese
f. Gmail
g. Gmail Storage
h. My Uploads
i. PC Synchronization
5. Restart your phone.
6. Connect to the internet.
7. Start the Photos program
8. At the bottom there should be a facebook icon. Click it and log in to your facebook account.
9. Let all the contacts download.
10. Go to your contacts (People), and now your old Facebook connections should slowly start to appear, and you should be able to link the contacts to your facebook contacts. It might take a while but have patience!
Perhaps one or a few of these steps are not necessary, but at least its what worked for me and hopefully it will help some of you.

I just updated to Android 2.2 from 1.56
Before, the Facebook App was optional.
When I went to the Android Market --> Downloads
It told me there was an update ready for:
1) Facebook App
2) Maps App

I am using the facebook App for android on my non rooted Sprint HTC Hero. I have the notifications turned on so I will get notified when someone sends me a message, I also have the Refresh Interval every 30min. However someone has sent me a message and the phone did not alert me. Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong.
