If anyone out there has been having any problems with WIFI not connecting on this ROM. I've tried everything from resetting my modem, forgetting and reconnecting...I know it is not the connection at my house because everything else works and my phone won't connect at work either. Is this a problem with the ROM itself?

At the office, we have a high-speed reliable WiFi network.I don't have problems connecting to it with my macbook and iPod Touch.On my Android phone, I use the toggle switch to turn on/off WiFi to save battery power.My frustration is as follows:* When I use the WiFi setting to check the box to turn on WiFi, it shows that it's available with a strong connection.* It shows "Obtaining address" for a long time period and often fails to actually connect.Status - Obtaining IP address from XXXXX Pulbic WiFi Access and it just sits there with the word "Obtaining..." forever it seems. Sometimes, or often, I can't even get it to connect.Does anyone else have this problem connecting to a strong WiFi network from their device?Suggestions on resolving this matter?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have no issues connecting to my WiFi router at home, and my other devices use it fine, and with no speed issues. My laptop for instance gets 8-10 mbits or so, but my phone for some reason when I run a speed test, or even browse, I get speeds that are very Ev Do like, 1200ish kbits down, 700 up. I've been connected to wireless routers in other places and get 3500 kbits down and 900ish up, but I'm just curious as to why every other device on my wireless network is fast, yet my Hero is so slow connection wise? Its been this way since day 1, and my router is about 10 feet from my phone at all times, so its not a distance issue.

When I turn on the WiFi on my hero it will not show the SSID name of my network. The odd thing is that when I use WiFi scanner (nice program) it shows my WiFi network SSID, but I cannot connect to my WiFi using that program.

View 20 Replies View RelatedMy Hero was connecting to my home WiFi perfectly (for about 5 weeks) - yesterday it stopped connecting, now just says CONNECTION UNSUCCESSFUL?OBTAINING IP ADDRESS.
I have not changed any of my router settings/phone settings, so this is strange. I have tried deleting link and re inputting key (this worked once, but now no longer works)
My router is on the recommended WPA-2 setting, and is regarded as a friendly router for the Hero (Netgear 834dg)
Wife and I each have new Sprint HTC Hero. We also have a home wifi network using an older (pre-802.11n) Apple Airport Extreme base station as WDS main and an old Apple Airport Express as a WDS remote. When we're home we tend to turn on our phone's wifi.
As long as only one phone has wifi turned on, everything is fine. But within minutes of turning on wifi on the second phone as well, our wifi router starts to lose it. Apparent massive interference. After a few more minutes the router becomes catatonic, so much so that Airport Utility cannot even see the router at all.
A power cycle of the router fixes things for at most a few minutes, then it rapidly goes downhill again. Turning off the wifi on one phone (doesn't seem to matter which one) and power-cycling the router brings back perfect sanity until the next time wifi on both phones is turned on.
I have neither the time nor the energy to go through the inevitable denials and mutual finger-pointing with Apple and Sprint, but I thought I would make note of it here for the benefit of the community.
I recently installed an AOSP styled ROM, and I absolutely love it. The only thing I don't like however, is the AOSP keyboard. How can I put the HTC keyboard back onto the phone?

Yesterday my phone stopped connecting to facebook.It doesn't update in the people anymore, but does just fine with the fb app from the market.I thought maybe I did something to screw it up so I decided to reset the phone and start over.Now I have nothing linked to facebook and not sure if there is a setting I'm overlooking or not.When I go into the people app, and then try to link someone I know is a friend,it pulls up nobody for any option.Anyone else having an issue with this?Any suggestions for fixing this?I have tried syncing through the settings>account and syc. I'm running stock 2.1 so you all know.

Since wireless tether on the Hero doesn't support WEP, how do you prevent others from connecting to your hotspot? I was running wireless tether and somebody jumped onto the network and I didn't know how to boot him/her off.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI went from a stock 1.5 to 2.1 using the Sprint 2.1 RUU and all is well. I understand it's a dev build and as such is already root but when I trying installing android-wifi-tether (both 2.0 and 1.6) it all looks well except when I touch the icon to start and it fails. The 1.6 version did report I didn't have root.
What do I need to do in ADB/shell to ensure the proper permissions are there for AWT? This is the last thing I want to get working and I'm happy.
Do I need to remount the filesystem as rw? Add superuser? Not sure what's needed.
Got this thing yesterday and after finally getting it activated went to the Android Market to play with some apps. Went through the Google account setup..."Your phone is communicating with Google" then I get a "You dont have a network connection" This could be a temp prob OR your sim card may not be provisioned for data services" I have a "Standby for connecting to mobile network" under the Mobile Network tab in phone settings. From what I've read, people are suggesting a "hard reset" for this issue :

View 5 Replies View RelatedI got 2 Sprint HTC Heros 3 wks ago. They work fine with any WiFi network that shows up as available. Other WiFi networks are completely ignored and do not show up in the list of available networks. I installed WiFi Analyzer and it is also prevented from seeing the same "invisible" networks. One WiFi network which does not show up is my home network. Last weekend I was at a B&B in another state and had the same problem with their network. Their network was up and running and visible to other hardware but not to our Heros.
Our home WiFi router is a Linksys WRT110 running WPA-2 Personal AES. There typically are three devices on this network: 2 @ g and 1 @ n. I have seen other WPA-2 Personal networks show up as Available while traveling but have no idea what routers were used. I called Sprint support and eventually got to someone in Tech support who put me on hold after I explained the symptoms. 20 min later the call was dropped. So much for Sprint tech support .
My phone is rooted with the latest baked snack rom as of last night. Now the phone will not connect to my wireless router. It just loops from scanning, obtaining ip address, remembering, and back over again. Did I forget to install something?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have the newest firmware and everything is fine and i did read the "how to's" before posting this. i'm on sprint and i've got unlimited everything. i tried the "internet sharing" thing when i plugged it in to my computer (all htc sync software and drivers installed) and i kept getting a data call failure so i thought sprint disabled that feature. i was messing with the wifi on my phone and i connected to my router, then when i plugged it in i tried the "internet sharing" option again this time it worked. but, as in the "how to" it doesn't have the little 3g symbol beside the clock. all it has it the wifi symbol. so, is my pc connected to the internet via my phones internet or my home internet?

It can find the network no problem and select it, but after I type in the password it says "Disconnected" then seems to go through Disconnected-Scanning-Connecting-Disconnected loop without letting me know whats happening. Initially I thought to myself "Perhaps it doesn't like WPA2", so I completely opened up the network. Then after scanning, it was showing on the phone that the network was still WPA/WPA2. I tried connecting to it anyways but it still asked me for a password and wouldn't let me through without one. Thinking something funky must have happened, I restarted the phone but it didn't change anything.

I just got the HTC Evo 4G yesterday and rooted it using the Unrevoked method (not sure if there is another). I then downloaded the Wireless Tether for root users. For some reason i cant get anthing to recognize it. I've tried looking for the signal with my ipod and laptop but nothing! What setting needs to be changed? I can connect to my Wifi at my uni address with no problems, so it is obviously a fault with the wireless rather than the phone.
The phone asks for the WEP password which I put in correctly, it then says "obtaining IP address" only to return with 'unsuccessful' or 'disconnected' - which may indicate that there is some security that is stopping the phone connecting?
