Sprint HTC Hero : Properly Closing An App

Ok, so after searching for a few hours, I have seen it said three ways.
1. To properly close an app so it doesn't run in the background, you need to back out of it.
2. To properly close an app so it doesn't run in the background, you need to hit your home button.
3. To properly close an app so it doesn't run in the background, you need to go into task manager and just kill it.
All I want to do, is exit the app and have it NOT running in the background.

I downloaded imusic, an application in the market and now my phone is jacked up. It says I have no service and everytime I open anything....it force closes. tell me that I don't have to reset. I have not received any sms or calls all day.

I've tried searching for a thread to help me with this and can't seem to find one. My mms will not download to my phone. The messages come through but will not finish downloading or open. I have uninstalled handcent which I thought may have been a problem and it corrected it for 1 mms then I am back to square 1. My internal memory has 87mb left and I've deleted all apps I don't use.
I have tried deleting all messages in the phone by batch mode and it either freezes up or gives me force close to what looks like the mms program. I am trying to avoid a hard reset because we all know how much of a pain to reinstall everything is. I am starting to get really fed up with the phone because for the money I paid, I expect much better. As much as I dislike Apple products, I can see why people rave about their products - they don't have these problems. (*sssshhh don't tell Apple fanboys I said that)

why does my calender keep force closing?i have widget installed that wasn't on the hero when i bought it.i guess it could be that, but does anyone else have issues with this?

Up until now, Handcent has worked just fine for me (except for not being able to view pix occasionally). About 2 days ago it force closed on me. Today it has done that about 4 times. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Handcent, as well as power cycled the phone, but it is still acting up.

I've been using Fresh 2.3.3, and everything is working great. However, Wireless Tether won't start. Whenever I use it - it force closes. This is actually the first time I think I've tried it. I don't remember ever using it on the earlier version of Fresh rom I had.
This only seems to happen when trying to connect through bluetooth. I can start the program, access the menu and settings and all of that - but as soon as I press on the big green wi-fi icon to start tethering - it force closes. The USB mode seems to work fine... but I need to use bluetooth mode.

On my hero, nearly every time I try to create or edit a calendar event, I get the following force close pop up: It is getting very aggravating and no matter how many times I do a battery pull, it still happens. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it, but I use a program called spanning sync to sync my mac iCal program with my gmail which in-turn syncs to my hero.

So I just flashed Darchdroid 2.7 and every time I try to open the calendar it says "The process com.android.calendar has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Anyone know of a way to help me fix this?

We all know that if you hold the Home button it gives us a pop up of recently used applications that run in the background for a certain amount of time. But when I do this, then I press home to get back to the home screen, I get that annoying pop up asking me if I want to use Home or HTC Sense UI. So I checkmark the box to set HTC Sense UI to default and when I press home any other time, it goes to the home screen... But when I use that multitasking feature, it shows that damn screen again...
Is this because of Fresh 1.1? Or is there a way I can get rid of this?

My phone is working very well and plays .wmv file all the time. I had a .wmv file that I wanted to edit and shorten. I got the software and did the job and put it back on my phone. When I try to play it all I get is the sound now and no video. I checked the size of the video and it's still the same size but while the media player shows the progress and it rolls in to the landscape mode it won't show the picture.

It seems to me that if you are not a programmer or have a solid knowledge base about operating systems then you will struggle with apps.I can not find a good source for what app does and how to properly use it.Very frustrating.Seems there are tons of good apps out there but I have no idea how to use them or if they would make my "smartphone" experience better.

I've noticed after I have rooted and installed the newest Fresh rom I have problems getting my alarm to shut off in the morning. It's not a huge problem, just an annoyance. I have not installed vanilla lock screen, I did search the forums which states if you use that you have to use vanilla clock. I literally have to shut off the alarm every morning by shutting down the phone. Sometimes I do get lucky and it shuts off (after about 1-2 minutes) and then I have to disable the alarm and re-enable it or it will snooze.

Is anyone having an issue with yahoo messenger on the HTC hero? It worked well at first - but now it doesn't. Specifically - I can log in - but none of my contacts pop up. In addition, I can send IM's from my phone - but I can't receive them.

I purchased an EVO a couple of weeks ago, so I'm still within the 30 day return policy. A couple of my apps are force closing quite often, such as Friendstream which won't even open. Is that enough for Sprint to exchange out my phone? Would they give me any BS?

I use the back button to close apps (I hit the back button until I am back at the home page). However, when I open Advanced Task Killer, the apps are still listed as open and able to be "killed".

I was wondering if anyone has a cure for this. The phone is rooted and on Villain 5.x. I've recently started using the camera and noticed that it will abruptly close on me - no force close message or anything - just back to the Home screen. A reboot seems to fix it for a few snaps, then the same again.

Had my Hero (T-mobile branded G2...) since release day, but in the last week or so I've had a few issues. Firstly, Gmail isn't synchronising regularly. Sometimes mail comes through instantly, sometimes it doesn't update for a day or more (if I open the Gmail app and "Refresh" it pulls the new mails down). I can't think of anything I've installed that could cause this (all i've installed in the last week are a few soundboards)Secondly, if I go into Market and try to either install a new app, or update an existing one, it sticks on "Starting download..." until I connect to Wifi (then downloads the app immediately). Is there a problem with the Market at the moment, or is this more likely to be a network issue?

I bought the HTC hero a couple if weeks back and I'm still trying to get used to the symbian to Android change. I have a couple if things which I would like to ask. 1. There is no option to close an application. I read that android closes the applications as and when more memory is required. So there is no chance one can close an application manually? 2. The phone only imports the picture and birthday into the contacts. Is there a chance I can import the email address and the telephone number? I require that more than the birthday info. 3. The WiFi signal seems to be very bad. Not sure if it'd an issue only with me. The location where I have full signal in my laptop and my Nokia N82, I only have one bar of signal in my HTC hero.

Since I have been on holidays to Spain last Christmas (and used plane mode) my HTC hero does not properly sync with google calendar I see on my computer. The appointments I add on my phone do not show up on my computer (browser google calendar). Events that I enter in the browser do show up on my phone. So there is a one way synchrosisation. Sunbird on the computer is no longer able to connect with the google calendar. (It indicates a connection error) I removed the calendar it had and inserterd a new one (with the private ical address you can find in google calendar settings). But the connection error continues.
The calendar in Google desktop is able to connect to the calendar in the browser but also does not show the events I entered in my phone. I have checked and re-checked my phone's settings to see if all the options are checked but all seems ok. All sync options are checked: background / autosync / gmail / calendar / contacts (are synched both ways).

I could only watch with envy as T-Mobile got and Android phone and Verizon didn't.
Well, my girlfriend is, unlike me, on T-Mobile, and after doing some research, have discovered that the HTC Magic falls short of what she wants. Fortunately, the HTC Hero manages to meet her biggest requirements. But we've run into the issue of her being on T-Mobile, which doesn't (currently) carry the HTC Hero in the US.
My question then, is if there are any known plans to bring the HTC Hero to T-Mobile in the US, and if not, is there any way to import one and get it to function properly?

Wotcher all, I've had my HTC "Hero" (daft name) for about a week now and since the first few days after I'd installed a few apps, when I long-press the Home screen button, the list of last-run apps appears as expected, however the TouchFlo app (or the Home app if I'm experimenting with stock android) also appear in this list. The next time I use the Home button it gives me the choice of using Home or TouchFlo and setting one of them as the default. I hit the "use as default" button and hit TouchFlo and all is well again. However as soon as I use a long-press of the Home button again, the phone forgets the default setting and reverts to asking me which one of Home or TouchFlo I want to use as the default action for Home button presses.Does anyone know a fix for this? I've gone into App Manager and unset all the defaults, but that's had no effect. I am living with it by just not using the long-press of the Home key, as long as I avoid that the phone remembers to use TouchFlow as the default action for Home presses. I've also tried switching to using the stock Android Home app instead of HTC's but still get the phone forgetting the default when I use the long-press of Home.

ok so i click call apps and 2 secs later most of them are back,I just killed these and they are back within 2 secs and i have not even used them for atleast a day how can i kill them until i click to open and automatically close when i come out of any program

When you press the 'google search button' on your Hero it takes you to the Browser.. I then turn it in landscape mode to get a bigger keyboard. As soon as I press any of the keyboard buttons the keyboard bounces up and down..thus you can't type properly..
