View 2 RepliesI'm planning on getting the Sprint Hero. I have a hosted Exchange account that I use to manage my emails, calendar, contacts, and tasks. I'm planning on continuing using my Exchange account. I do not want to use Google for Calendar, Contacts, and Tasks syncing.
I have the following questions.
1. How do I turn off Google calendar, contacts, and tasks syncing?
2. Do I need to turn off Google syncing?
3. Is Exchange data stored and managed separately on the phone from Google's calendar, contracts, and tasks but displayed together in the HTC applications?
4. Will the HTC implantation of Exchange ActiveSync allow me to sync tasks?
How do I turn on Exchange calendar sync? I can't find the option. I have my Exchange email setup and everything is working fine. When I set it up I told it not to sync my contacts and calendar because I usually sync my work calendar with Google Calendar Sync. However, I am now using Office 2010 Beta at work and Google Calendar Sync does not support it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just updated my phone to 2.1. Also I have two email accounts. One Gmail and one dslextreme account. It used to be that when I got email from one or both accounts I would get a little envelope in my notification bar. Dragging that down it would show me the email in the Gmail account and the dslextreme account. But now I have a third notification with the google M in it. If I click it it opens a "conversation" window with the email. I can respond to it and it works just fine. But if I click on the Gmail email I get the usual looking email format. Now the interesting thing is if I ignore the google M and go straight to the google email and deal with the email from there the google M conversation disappears. Thank you for bearing with me through that lengthly explanation but here is my question. How do I turn off this google M conversation? I don't want that third notification nor do I want that style of email delivered. I want to go back to the standard type of email delivery. It's coming to my phone alright but I don't want dual notifications. I remember when I was setting up this new OS that a box came up and I checked this google M not understanding what it was but I have looked through all my settings and can't figure out how to shut it off.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am new to the Android Universe (Picked up my Sprint HTC Hero yesterday)I have a question about google accounts and email sync.
1st, On my previous phone (Windows Mobile) I had my gmail account set up so that my email is "pushed" to my phone. I thought that the android phones were automatically set up to do that, or do I have to do something to get this to work. I only ask because it seems to take a while to receive emails on my phone.
2nd, Before I got the phone I was reading up on the features, and a lot of the posts I read made it seem like I could access my google reader section, saved maps, sync bookmarks, and anything else I had with my google account. But, I can't seem to figure out how to do this. The most I have figured out on the maps is latitude, and nothing else with reader, bookmarks, etc.
exchange to sync email due to the fact you have more options on the email client that comes with phone as opposed to the basic gmail program that comes with phone? Is this a good way to go? Is exchange just as fast in pushing the email as google is when it syncs as it comes in? Thanks...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use the Google Voice (GV) click to call (click-to-call / ctt) feature quite a bit. When it rings my phone, my OWN google voice number shows up in my phone's call log. Does anybody know if it is possible, or how, to get the click-to-call initiated calls to show up as the person that I was calling in my phone's call log?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got the droid x and relinquished my blackberry curve.I love this phone but I have one major problem.I am a psychologist, and use my X to schedule all of my appointments, and keep track of my clients.Because of legal issues and client privacy laws, I need to keep my phone from syncing my Google calendar to the internet.I can't have that information out there.I use Gmail for all of my email and contacts and such, but every time I turn off Google sync on my phone it syncs again the next day.I don't want to just kill all syncing, or I won't get my email anymore. Any ideas? I am also up for finding an "offline" calendar that has the same principals of Google calendar, but has no syncing ability.

View 2 Replies View Relatedafter installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?
View 6 Replies View Relatediv heard ppl who downloaded android 2.2 online and installed it themselves on there phone since its not being offered ota. but im wondering if its safe? the phone is not actually getting 2.2 ever, so doing this would be my own choice. but im wondering if it will run smoothly, better than 2.1 update 1, and if there will be any problems or if anything that may not work because of compatability problems with the phone. because some people have said that 2.2 isnt being released to the hero because the phone is not physically capeable of it do to software and hardware (such as space ram speeds etc.), and others have said they installed it themselves and it works fine, that its actually made to run using less space then 2.1 making it better.

View 7 Replies View RelatedCan any one help with the following problem. I'd really appreciate it. This phone, as promising as it is, keeps giving me head-aches.On my HTC Hero all my contacts (they are all "Google" contacts) are duplicate. I deleted all contacts from GMail (they were NOT duplicate on GMail), have seen my HTC resyncing my contacts various times since (while in the Settings->Data Sync->Google Menu), but all 2000+ contacts remain in my phone.Obviously, I'm just trying to delete duplicates (why they suddenly appeared I do not know), but at the moment my phone seem not to sync at all.Can any one tell me how to delete ALL Contacts from my phone and then resync (after I reimport my GMail contacts)? Is there no other way to select each of my almost 3000 contacts manually to delete?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI don't know if it was a settings app (Quick Settings by Sergey) from the android market that caused it, but after uninstalling that app (the only other one i use right now is the lock screen widget - which i just uninstalled), i can't turn the mobile network on. i've tried the airplane mode trick, gone into settings, soft reset, etc. any ideas in the manage applications? i'd rather not do another hard reset (had to for the google account). i called htc and they were useless - with no trouble shooting, they recommended a hard reset and to not download apps! btw, i'm on a non-rooted phone.

So my question is, does anyone know how to turn the vibration off for the dial pad? I got it turned off for texting and I have the noise off for the dial pad just can't seem to get the vibration off. The reason I ask is because my dial pad is realllllllyy laggy. Like it takes 2-3+ seconds for a number that you press to show up and I feel like the vibration is the reason for the lag.
Odd question, but I can't figure for the life of me how to turn these off.

I am not trying to complain, but I do believe this is an option that should have been tested, so this is the first glitch I have noticed so far. Other than that, its looking good. Anyone else?

So if I just run the 2.1 official, will that take care of it? Or should I use some other method to do it. Also, I see the update is an EXE, is that gonna give me troubles since I have a linux PC?
