Sprint HTC Hero :: Are Battery Apps Accurate
Apr 12, 2010Are battery apps accurate because I get diff readings from the phone then the app. Also does the battery app waste battery life when checking it frequently.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Does Not Seem To Be Accurate - Alternate Keyboard ?
Jan 20, 2010This is my 3rd HTC but first Android (Had a Blackberry Curve too). Like Hero a lot but the onscreen keyboard is driving me batty! First off, it doesn't work well if my fingers are cold. And second off, it does not seem to be accurate, especially on the far right hand side. Also, I swear my fingers are quite small and even if I press a letter smack dab in the middle, I get the letter above. And don't get me started on the backspace key.
I really really like my Hero. But I need a different onscreen keyboard. Can anybody make any suggestions? I can't do any programming, etc. so it will have to be a pretty much straight download.
Sprint HTC Hero :: Google Maps Location Not Accurate?
Jan 22, 2010I opened google maps and my location is not accurate at all. I understand that if I turn on gps options it becomes much more accurate, but it's a real battery eater. coming from a 2 year old samsung mysto on Helio network that ran google maps down to the meter for me (and only needed to be recharged every 4 days) it seems like this should work better.Am I missing something? That little mysto couldn't have been running active GPS pinging the whole time. What made it so much better at locating?

Uptime: 12:06
Awake time: 2:58
Battery use:
-Android system: 34%
-Cell standby 29%
-Phone Idle 22%
-Display 8%
-Voice calls 4%
-Maps 3%
I've been reading all other posts and their android system is significantly lower is there something draining my battery?
Android : More Accurate Battery App For Phone?
Nov 20, 2010I've been looking for a battery widget to tell me my remaining charge state as a percentage, but so far all of them go in increments of 10% (i.e. 90% left, to 80%, to 70%, etc). Does anyone know of one that breaks it down a little more finely?

For example, the following programs were pre-installed:
Amazon MP3
Footprints
Teeter
And maybe some others.
I've just tried:
Settings | Applications | Manage Apps
And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.
Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?
Is there any way to remove the pre-installed Sprint programs?
Sprint TV
Sprint-Nextel
NFL
Nascar
Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.
Motorola Droid :: Battery Status Replacement Application - More Accurate?
Dec 10, 2009The battery status is horrible. Why does it look like it's at 50% when at 30%? I downloaded an app that puts the percentage in the status bar, but it's at the top left in notifications. Is there an app that replaces the current icon with one with a percentage or, at least, is more accurate? I doubt there is. I didn't find anything on Marketplace or through search.

I really like Cardio Trainer but it adds 3 tenths of a mile for every mile. My Tracks was off as well. Anyway just wondering if anyone has had good luck with another application?

HTC Hero : Phone Weather Not Accurate Enough After Costum ROM / Way To Fix
Jun 6, 2010With original ROM clock widget and weather widget i would always be told about the weather in specific area that i was in really accurately, but now, with custom ROM the 'current location' just shows the name of the country I live in! (Lithuania) I have to manually add my home town. I am lucky to live in capital city, so I add it, but if I go out elsewhere, the widgets become useless. any solutions?

Sprint HTC Hero :: 2.1 Battery Not Charging Fix
May 21, 2010Today I took my Sprint HTC Hero to a Sprint store to upgrade to Android 2.1. In my opinion, I don't think it was worth upgrading the software. I really liked the options in 1.5 more especially the camera app. Any way, after getting home, my batter was almost dead. I pluged the micro usb cable into my Hero and attempted to charge it via an a/c charger. It started to charge from 10% slowly but then only went to 22% and stopped and stayed there for 2 hours. The back of my Hero was REALLY hot. I shut off the phone and let it cool and tried again. Same thing happened. I noticed that when you are using the phone and charging it in 2.1, the battery starts to die and it gets hot even quicker.Shutting the phone off and charging didnt help. What did and is still working, is putting the phone in Airplane mode, killing unnecessary running apps/widgets with the Advanced Task Killer by ReChild and then proceding to charge the phone.After leaving it like this for 30 minutes, the back of the phone was no longer hot and the battery percent went up from 22% to 33%, it is continuing to charge now.If you are having this issue, I suggest you use this method to charge your phone until the bug is fixed.This is such a pain because if your using Sprint Navigation in the car and your battery is about to die,you cannot charge it.The phone will remain on after using a car charger to charge it but the battery percent wont increase and it will get really hot.I guess we have to charge the phone before every use from now on? Android 2.1 is a lot of bugs. They made us wait this long for it and they have still failed to fix the major issues that were supposed to be fixed with this update IMO.

The speed has increased, but it's nothing to write home about. Don't get me wrong I love the look and it is faster. I'm just wondering if there is more that I can do to make it better?

Mar 24, 2010My phones battery died last night and now my phone can do almost nothing. It will turn on but I have no signal just a x and anytime I try to use almost anything I get a force close error. Everything from trying to dial a number to opening google maps. It seems like almost everything included with the phone will not work. I tried a couple of games just to check and they seem to work ok. Does anyone know how to get my phone working again or if a reset will fix this, or do I need to take it to Sprint? My phone is not rooted and has died before with no ill effects.

Mar 1, 2010A month or so back I started running mine with GPS toggled ON all the time. (For apps to find a lost Hero it seemed the only effective way to find it was if GPS was on). GPS is not powered (or maybe very low powered?) UNLESS the GPS Symbol is showing at top of screen?
I've noticed NO difference in battery life with GPS toggled ON vs OFF over the last month. GPS (when toggled ON) appears to be actually turned on or off by particular Apps that use it.
Anyone? Am I correct?
It seems to be "common knowledge" and I think Android even says to toggle it OFF to save battery life but this seems to be not true?
I DO have an App that does turn GPS on but does NOT turn it off when I exit, which does drain the battery until I manually correct, which could be a problem, but I do see the GPS icon so I know it's on and draining.
