I have tried 2 GPS trackers and both were not accurate for measuring distance. I used My Tracks and Cardio Trainer. I really like Cardio Trainer but it adds 3 tenths of a mile for every mile. My Tracks was off as well. Anyway just wondering if anyone has had good luck with another application?

I've switched from the iPhone to the Hero a week ago. I really like the Hero, even though some functions are better on the iphone (like the musci player).
There is one Issue however, which is really bugging me with the HTC, which might make me switch back to the iPHone if I can't find a solution.
Problem:
When I call with my headset (Not the original ones, I don't have huge ear holes....) I can't "switch off" the screen and put the phone in my pocket and call while walking... This sucks, as I have to hold the phone in my hands, which kind of kills the idea of having a headset.
I am looking for an app for my phone that can scan barcodes & keep inventory of food in the house, and pull reciepes from that list. Idea is to scan barcodes as you shop, and then when you get hungry, have a list of recipes you can choose from that you have ingredients on hand for.When you cook the list is updated for what was used.Something that integrates w/ ShopSavvy and one of the better reciepe apps would be awesome.

I have no new notifications but the tracker ball is lighting up every 5 seconds or so. What does that mean?
which gps app has the most accurate maps? i have been using copilot live and some roads it gets a bit confused about, and shows some residential streets as not there. From experience which app has the best maps?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is my 3rd HTC but first Android (Had a Blackberry Curve too). Like Hero a lot but the onscreen keyboard is driving me batty! First off, it doesn't work well if my fingers are cold. And second off, it does not seem to be accurate, especially on the far right hand side. Also, I swear my fingers are quite small and even if I press a letter smack dab in the middle, I get the letter above. And don't get me started on the backspace key.
I really really like my Hero. But I need a different onscreen keyboard. Can anybody make any suggestions? I can't do any programming, etc. so it will have to be a pretty much straight download.
With original ROM clock widget and weather widget i would always be told about the weather in specific area that i was in really accurately, but now, with custom ROM the 'current location' just shows the name of the country I live in! (Lithuania) I have to manually add my home town. I am lucky to live in capital city, so I add it, but if I go out elsewhere, the widgets become useless. any solutions?

I understand that if I turn on gps options it becomes much more accurate, but it's a real battery eater. coming from a 2 year old samsung mysto on Helio network that ran google maps down to the meter for me (and only needed to be recharged every 4 days) it seems like this should work better.Am I missing something? That little mysto couldn't have been running active GPS pinging the whole time. What made it so much better at locating?

I have tried Google offline maps but it doesn't work with "direction" so I find it kinda useless. Any offline maps/GPS service with walking direction? Navigon is the closest thing to what I want but I can't download the south america maps from play store (they say it's not available for my country). I am thinking to buy NDrive considering they use the same database (navteq).
Does NDrive have walking GPS direction (and available offline) like Navigon? If NDrive doesnt do it for me
The monthly walking distance recap in Google Now is useful, but if that card disappears how can I view the information again?
Obviously some of the information is stored somewhere in the googleverse as it does comparisons (i.e. 70 miles in nov verses 55 in Dec).
