(On the HTC G1(Dream) running 1.6 and Motorola Droid(MileStone) running 2.0,) there was a Voice Search button next to the google search widget, but it's not there on the X10, and no voice search app in the market. Is it there somewhere?

I recently rooted my x10. Everything is going awesome so far except one thing. I have no idea where my voice search went. I re-flashed it with an unbranded rom (R2BA026) and voice search is missing! I don't know where to go from here.
Here is a link to my web album showing the screens. As you can see in one of the pictures, the voice key is there but it doesn't do anything.
I tried searching the Android Market for this, but no luck. I've also tried sending a text from the Google site, but clicking on the link, after I received the text, just gave an error message.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI see in some videos the google search bar in 2.1 is suppsoed to to have the little microphone icon to activate voice search. I flashed 2.1 rodgers firmare onto my x10a and when the phone boots I can see the icon for a few seconds then it deisapears!! Anyone else with the same problem? Was it something taken out by rodgers in their version of firmware?

This is a slight rant but for the last month there has been times that the same question has been asked on more than one thread and have even seen 3 of the same threads together on here. When i try to search for barnacle wifi tether in the marketplace nothing shows up? Also internet nor marketplace work without wifi, texting does though. There is no 3G or Edge symbols beside my bars either.

Suddenly after having it worked smooth for 3-4 days, I started getting a very strange problem which I was not able to search anywhere in forums or in the help manual.My address book search is not searching any contacts by the contact's names. It is just searching the emails, it's a huge problem for me especially when trying to send SMS to anyone, I can't go and add recipient by searching, I need to scroll the whole way down to that contact, which is irritating.
Otherwise the phone is quite nice and I am liking it very much. Especially the slide out keyboard is really usable plus unlike most smartphones, it's really small in size and performs most functions. There are some minor flaws but most of them are going to get fixed with the SE's much awaited software update for bringing in the Android 2.1, no doubt I am also waiting desperately.
I set up my google account when I first received the phone and everything. However now when I open up the home screen the Google Search bar has disappeared. Gone into Basic settings > Setup Guide to check details but Google Account settings not even listed! (Just SIM Contacts; Time & Date; Email; Facebook; Twitter; Sync) Have checked Applications and it shows Google Search (enhanced) as the default setting but it is not showing up on my screen either as the search bar or in the applications. Have tried taking out and re-inserting the sim card. Any ideas on how to get it re-instated?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know this is nothing to do with the Android aspect of the Xperia X10 but was wondering what the rest of you thought of the voice call quality. The Wife and I both have one and when I call my friends on mine they say they can barely understand what I'm saying, when the Wife calls me on hers to my office land line I can barely understand what she is saying and to be honest calling each other on them is equally as bad. I'm going to test out both phones tonight with the wife using our home land line and see what she thinks... She's always had a mobile where I on the other hand wasn't interested in them until recently now they are more like a mobile office than just a phone. I'm never in a "bad" signal strength area when people tell me to speak up and I don't talk quietly anyway, they also tell me that as well as the muffled/distorted voice it's grainy and drops out frequently... Like someone is intermittently muting the mic, for example. I've had a ferret about the net and I'm drawing a blank, a few reviews say the voice call quality is poor/awful but than there are loads of others that say it's great. I love the phone and the rest of it is outstanding! I've stuck the Helix launcher on it, downloaded plenty apps for work (I'm a Software Engineer for Networked DVR's) including TFTP,FTP,SSH clients/servers, synchronized my calender and contacts with Gmail, ported all of my personal and work notes on to it, got a Dropbox set up, got a few gadgets to enable/disable the WiFi/APN/GPS as I need them so it doesn't chew up the battery... I literally almost couldn't be happier! I'm loathed to think that the one thing that doesn't actually work very well on this is in essence it's primary purpose and based on what I've read so far on the net I would say it's just my phone but as we have two doing the same thing it can't be. Does anyone else have a problem with the voice call audio quality or are there any known related hardware issues ?

The voice of the person on the other end is horrible, i previously had a black berry pearl, I checked the website for factors which cause bad call quality. Even though my signal strength is good, charge is full , the call volume is less, the other person is not in an elevator , not using any blue tooth or microphone or not using the speaker mode, the call quality si still bad.Has anybody faced this?. I either get a list of phone numbers I don't recognize (998-xxx-xxx, etc) or after clearly saying "call voice mail" it comes up with "open calendar". Do I need to train it to my voice, or does it just not work? Is there another ap out there that works? Before got this I had heard rave revews about android voice dialing, now I am very disappointed.

There is a button on the handsfree unit (Jabra BT2080) that activates voice dialing but it does nothing on my phone! How do I get it to activate the voice dialing on my phone?

I can make calls ok and send and receive text. I have my voice mail set up but when I receive calls if I miss the call it does not go to voice mail and the caller get a message saying the number is not recognized. Does anyone know if this is a phone problem or a network problem only had this since I have had my X10.
