When should we expect 2.1 update for generic global x10s?

I was bored today and decided to do the updating through my phone (not through SE Update Service), unlike the previous 3 weeks, it finally shows there is an update for my phone. I was so excited and immediately hit ok and start downloading. It took total about 30 minutes to download and update the phone. Seems like a major update. I was so happy thinking this has got to be the Android 2.1 firmware update. After updating, the phone automatically restarted itself. Took about 1 minute to restart. Right away, I went to the setting - about phone to check the software version. It still shows Firmware 1.6. But the baseband version is now 1.1.27 instead of 1.1.16 before. What is this baseband version?

Just add brief and simple details like:
Where you live.
Network carrier
What FW are you using (eg generic, t mobile,o2 etc)
This will then help other people to know when the update is ready for them instead of keep trying Sunday evening onwards to get it

I have alot (and I mean ALOT) of apps on my Xperia, so I get around 5 app updates a day, which is now starting to agitate me because most of them are the same apps everyday needing updates.
Today I heard about an update for the market that includes an auto update feature for installed apps. But I, like many others, do not see this option on the market.
Does anyone have any idea how to get it? or if I can't get it, when can I?
i found out that the update to 2.1 is here on three uk now when i try to update my phone using pc companion or SEUS it freezes my computer. i get to the point were i turn the phone off and turn it back on holding the back button but nothing happens and my computer just freezes up any help with this one? i am on sony ericsson x10
View 6 Replies View RelatedAnd don't tell us something about "secrets" SE has, 2.2 is out for weeks, every other comparable android phone has it. So not saying anytinh about 2.2 means the X10 won't get it and is dumped after the 2.1 update. SE I will never waste again 500â

As you've probably guessed this is regarding not having the G mail account details to unlock my phone. I have looked through the threads on this site (amongst countless others) and nothing has been overly helpful so I figured I'd just ask Basically, I have locked myself out of my phone and can't remember the G mail details required to unlock it. Most people keep replying with "Do a software update using PC Companion" but this doesn't make sense to me as you need to have your phone unlocked to be able to connect your phone to it so that doesn't work (unless there is something painstakingly obvious that I'm overlooking?) I've done the obvious things; taking out the battery, taking out the SIM, trying every single email/password combination I've ever used but nothing is working.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got my update 3 days ago, and now I dont feel my x10 anymore. Its not special anymore.. Anybody knows how to go back to 1.6? I got unlocked rogers phone in Canada. My battery used to go almost 3 days, now not even 24 hrs!! It does NOT charge more than %91.. Texting is so harder now, touchscreen is sooooo sensitive. app. menu sucks.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my phone about two months ago, for the past few weeks I have been having problems with the microphone. When I call people sometimes every things fine, other times I need to hang up and call again because they cant hear me. Sometimes I need to call 3 or 4 times until they can hear me. I took it back to the shop where I got it and they thought it might be a software problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Also I have tried updating the software on my laptop and it doesn't seem to be working.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just purchased my new X10 .
My question : do i need to root my X10 , in order to update to 2.1 ?
Or just can i plug my usb cable and follow instructions to update to 2.1 ?
(i mean instructions in the video by SE)
So I connect my phone to my PC to transfer the Angrybirds apk over. Then it says updates available. Foolishly, I take the update, follow all the instructions and now - it seems I've lost everything.
No contacts, no apps, no history, no ADW launcher with all the lovely themes and widgets and all the set-up I spent ages doing,...
What's going on? Have I lost it. Nothing much recovered when I tried to restore a back-up. Need to google register everything again.
I can see folders for apps that I had in the PC companion; but I can't seem to recover anything.
This phone has been nothing but trouble since day 1. :@
I have now managed to update my phone. I hadn't realised at first that I had touse the update service software, rather than going through the phone or PC Companion. Still on Android 1.6, of course, but now have baseband version 1.1.25 and kernel version 2.6.29.
At first glance, the phone doesn't seem to have changed as lot. My contacts and applications are all as they were, as far as i can tell. The only change I have seen is that I can now use a different theme for Timescape from the rest of the phone. I use the normal black background for most things, but I can use light blue, dark blue, orange, green or pink in Timescape now. I don't think I had a choice before.
Has anyone else who has been able to update noticed anythign else...?
Myself, started with backup and restore, backup was completed and also backed up my contacts to flash just in case. Hooked phone to PC companion and was informed an update was available. Followed through the update process and when the phone was disconnected and powered on as instructed I was still left with 1.6. Now when I connect to PC companion I am informed software is up to date with 1.6.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI installed android 2.1 today but for some reason I can't restore my contacts.I followed the instructions on the sony ericsson webpage and used the SE backup software to make a backup of my contacts, mms, photos etc. When I restored everything after the update everything was restored except my contacts. How can I get my contacts back? Is there some way to extract them manually from the backup file or something? The backup software can't seem to restore them for me.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am with Xperia X10 and I know that there has to be an update! At least when I connect the phone to the laptop, that's what my PC Companion is telling me. But I can't go past the plug the cable and hold the back button. I tried both the companion and the update service but I can't go past the plug in and press back buttons. If I hold it for a longer period of time, the phone just turns back on!

View 49 Replies View RelatedAnyone else not able to update or download anything from the market? been like this for a day or so now. I know last time i deleted the cache or something and it worked again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedGot a ping last night to say that there was an update available (yay!). Went through Sony Update Service and it downloaded 154MB of update and then applied it. On restart the only difference I could see was that there was a new app - Creatouch - and what appears to be a library file (com.sonyericsson...) in my app list. So two questions:
1. How come that Creatouch - which app management claims is less than 4.5MB - needs a 154MB download? What else was in that update (there's no release notes I can find for it - which would have been useful)?
2. Is there anyone in SE that I can send feedback to (Jeff/KrazyD - maybe this is question for you?). Obviously something's not right in the update if it's putting a library file into the applist where users might try and run it. I did try that (being nosy) and got an alert dialogue "The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" (which I've not done)
I thought this might be the long-awaited 2.1 update - but post install my phone's still at 1.6 (build R2BA020).Still maybe this is preparation for 2.1 and at least this update came direct from SE, rather than having to wait for my teleco to look at it.
I'm looking to debrand my x10, to receive the 2.1 update quicker (when SE release it) , Rather than wait for vodafone to release it. My phone is currently vodafone branded. Ive been looking on this site: Debrand your Xperia X10 [Tutorial] | Xperia X10 Blog.
