Samsung I7500 :: Confused Between I5700 & I7500
Mar 18, 2010Sorry if this thread seems inconsequential but I have been rendering myselves sleepless nights over the past couple of days ( and nights ) due to my inability to choose between the above two said android phones. I like the i5700 for its zippy 800 MHz processor and that its got the 2.1 update. I like the i7500 for its 5 MP camera and flash + a larger screen to play with I would have gone in for the i7500 but have been hearing about Samsung deciding against not updating it to version 2.1 which can off course be done taking the un-official channel. Moreover the 528 Mhz processor is certainly lagging.
But still I see people in here Going after the i7500 .... Adding to it there is more threads and discussions going around on the i7500 as compared to the i5700. Am I missing something in the i7500 or is it just that i am a stupid newbie ... I have gone through many many pages of information on this thread before posting this query.

Jan 11, 2010my phone is actually new i never used it and it was shipped to me with version 1.5 with android, then i saw that there is a 2.0 version of mustymod & drakaz witch i wanted to install and try all those new functions. The first version worked great without of course the camer the wifi and so on that there were not working with this first version, then i made something very stupid and format the SD CARD and since then i cant boot/start my phone. When i try to start it it only shows "Samsung Galaxy" and nothing else.So my question is what i can do to fix this? really need help (im a niewbie)

Nov 26, 2009after my phone crashed / went unresponsive after a call I did what I've gotten used to doing which is taking out the battery to reset it. Though, this time I had the charger in which I'm guessing is what made the phone corrupt. Now I'm stuck in a boot loop with no way to reset it. Recovery mode doesn't help and I'm guessing there's no hardware reset button. I've never rooted or installed anything that's not from the free market.
I'm living in Sweden but bought it in Germany so am reluctant to go through the hassle of returning it. Or does samsung have som kind of world wide warranty?

Where I stuck is when I type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img in DOS shell. It just displays forever like

Samsung Galaxy I7500 :: GAOSP Boot Animations
Sep 16, 2010i've been scouring all over to find a way to change the boot animation for the latest nightly of GAOSP, or for any Galaxy ROM for that matter. i've gotten a few apps from the Market, but aren't completely sold on their custom animations. since most of the custom animations i like are for other devices, what do i need to alter in the desc.txt file in order to get them to work? can i just download any zip that i do find that i like and just replace the file and reflash the GAOSP ROM?

Oct 27, 2010I think it's time I turn to the forums with this issue if I'm ever gonna get GAOSP fully working on my device.BEHAVIOR: The two latest Nightlys I've flashed have given me a 3g-symbol and working connection on either the first boot (without gapps installed) or the second, after installing gapps. The problem is that over consecutive reboots (to change themes, settings, just to try etc.) the 3g-data rarely returns. I have been rebooting the device for 20 times in a row without getting it to connect to 3g-data. Using the *#*#INFO#*#*-menu and "enable data connection" doesn't work. Changing to WCDMA-band only may help with frequency of working reboots, but it's hard to tell. Some times (on some combinations of ROM/baseband) switching airplane-mode on/off has worked.
OBSERVATIONS: What I have observed is happening is that whenever 3g-data isn't working, the APN-list i empty. If I create a new APN it will not show after I have pressed save. If I reboot until i get 3g-data again, the new APN will show up together with the original ones. I've had this problem occur with many different ROMs from what I can remember, but to vastly varying extents.
There seems to be some connection to baseband too, because even on galaxo 1.6.3.4 I've had lots of problem with anything newer than II5, or even newer than IH8 to be completely stable, until I used jakax 3g-fix: Fix 3G/UMTS network interruptions with donut and JC6 AMSS. Since then I have been using JC6 with Galaxo 1.6.3.4 and only losing 3g-data on 1 of 5 reboots or so. jakax's fix Isn't for this problem though, so I've no idea why it helps!?I've heard some others having similar problems, but most seem to have been solved in some update or they sold their devices or something, because no thread has come to any solution really. My device was one of the first and bought from Germany and is being used in Sweden, could this affect it it any way? I have seen some threads of problems with android APNs disappearing when certain MNC-numbers are entered, but I never found any explanation or solution there either.
Samsung I7500 : Trying To Boot Up Galaxo Hero Rom / Can't Restore G Apps
Nov 15, 2009I'm trying to boot up the galaxohero rom,I indeed successfully restore the gapps before, but now, it didn't work anymore. I'm using the recovery 4.2 image and i'm sure i have done everything as the how to odin guide said, but it still couldn't restore the g.apps, the restore was aborted after a few sec. I have even formatted the storage card and start again. For my successful attempt, i use the old methods with a g.apps directory, but now I'm using II5.tar to restore, and it didn't work anymore.

Chosing between this two because Nexus One is too expensive for me and the only android phones avaliable in my country is Samsung Galaxy and Hero. Here is my breakdown of the Samsung Galaxy and Hero. I tot the main difference these two phones have is that Hero have customisable roms readily availble while the Galaxy don't. It is important to have customisable roms. Jan 23, 2010The Samsung i7500 Galaxy is, except the support from Samsung itself, a great Android smartphone with a very good (the best?) price for value. It's with 11,9mm the second slimmest Android phone after Nexus One with 11,5mm (right?) and has unlike the HTC phones a flash light and build in storage of 8GB. On most sites the Galaxy is (one of) the cheapest Android phones, I wonder if it's because Samsung is cheaper or HTC/Motorola more expensive by itself?
I personally would compare the i7500 with the HTC Hero, although in my opinion the i7500 still has a much better price for value.
Is it even possible to define if and which Android phone is a low, middle, or high-end smartphone?
Sure, it also depends for what purposes you bought and use your phone, but I still wonder were the i7500 would be if 1=low and 10=high end Android phone, and if there even is a number 10? I also think that the D-Pad is a big plus and not a minus in comparison to the scroll ball from HTC.
General :: Phone Is Suddenly Taking Long Time To Switch On But Not Boot Up
Oct 23, 2013I recently bought a used, but in good condition Optimus V. Not a great phone, but it does what I need. However, in the past couple days I've found that when the phone does its auto-timeout, it takes up to ten seconds for it to switch back on. By that I mean that when I press the power button just to get to the passcode screen (not to turn the whole thing on), it takes much longer than it did when I first got it.
I've uninstalled recent apps, but it's done nothing. What to do?
General :: Boot System File To Switch MicroSD Mount With Internal Memory?
Jul 3, 2013A long time ago I had edited a file that is read on boot, in that file is written which one of the two 'partition' has to be mounted as what.
Basically, my 32GB microsd is seen as the internal memory of the device (which would be 12 GB), and the other one as micro sd. The result is that most application would go to the microsd by default, using thus 32GB for apps instead of 12GB.
This is because my microsd is failing. Changed with a new one, and now it is failing again. I suppose my phone has become a 'micro sd destroyer'. Cannot do anything about it, so better to use the internal memory instead of the card for main use..... So how do I switch back to normal mounting (micro sd as micro sd and internal memory as internal memory and not switched up) ?
