Samsung Galaxy I7500 :: Internal Sd Card Corrupted?

Aug 20, 2010

So a while back I was transferring some files between my computer (Win7) and my phone and the phone froze; against everything I know about usb storage devices I disconnected the phone from the computer (don't ask why, I know I f'd up), restarted the phone and all worked ok... except, since then, every time I connect the phone to the computer I get this message about the internal sd card:

I have a MyPhone A888 (4.0.4) and I was planning to wipe the Internal SD Card. How exactly do I do this? I have not rooted my phone yet also so how to root this phone. But really, my main question is as to how to format the internal sd card. I am not very sure yet if TWRP or CWM supports my phone since I haven't used them yet.

Samsung Fascinate :: Internal Storage At 0 And I Can't Seem To Wipe It / How To Do This

Nov 11, 2010

Here is the situation, I rooted my phone a few weeks ago but didn't do anything beyond that. Installed a few apps like titanium backup and ROM manager.

I finally decided to try out a new ROM. Unfortunately I choose a voodoo rom without really understanding what I was doing. I ended up with some issues of everything force shutting down as soon as the phone started. So I downloaded all of the factory default files and used ODIN to flash everything back to stock. (System, recovery, and kernel tar files.)

While that seems to have worked, my internal phone storage claims to be zero. I have tried cleaning the cache through the settings->applications but while it seems to work, it still says zero.

I added the voodoo disable folder to the voodoo directory on the SD card but that didn't seem to change anything. I then read somewhere that I should be able to delete the entire voodoo directory after I flashed back to stock, so I did. Same issue.

I've tried the privacy->reset all data, but that fails. It's hard to read, but I think it says something about not being able to mount something and "data wipe failed".

I've put over CWMrecovery.rar in Odin and tried to use the wipe data option in it, but anything I choose after the initial update.zip file results in a blank screen. (Pressing the home key backs it out to the menu.)

adb still works, but I've lost root, so there isn't much I can do. I've tried re-rooting, but as soon as the phone reboots, the files I pushed over disappear. Almost as if it is stuck in a factory restore loop or something. I even have to go through the startup wizard everytime the phone reboots and I loose the gmail account that I have setup each time.

Samsung Captivate :: Format Internal Storage And Reinstall ROM?

Sep 18, 2010

I finally decided to apply a lag-fix to me phone. I used the RyanZA fix available in the market. I'm not exactly sure on the stock partition configuration on the Captivate but if I understand the lag-fix, an ext2 partition is created and the system files are moved to that partition. Thinking ahead for when Froyo arrives, I'm wondering if I can format all of my internal storage and reinstall a ROM. If I format the internal storage, do the necessary partitions need to be created manually or does installing a ROM create the needed partitions? I'm fairly new to Android so excuse me if my terminology is off.

Samsung Galaxy S :: Unsupported Format For Mp3 From Windows Media Player 12

Aug 28, 2010

Samsung Galaxy S getting "Unsupported file format" on .mp3s in AllShare (DLNA). Want to stream music from Windows 7 computer to Android device. Connected AllShare to Windows Media Player 12 over WiFi G network to "Play file from server on my phone". I can browse PC media folders from the Galaxy S. In AllShare, I click an .MP3 from my PC library, add it to the AllShare playlist, then the circle spins for about 10 seconds and I finally get the pop-up error "Unsupported file format." All .mp3's are DRM-free unprotected files. They play fine directly from the MicroSD card through the standard Android Music app. Disconnected/reconnected WiFi, same results. Read a few other posts on various forums, a few people have the same issue. Looks like fewer are even trying to use DLNA like this. Heard plenty of "hypothetical" troubleshooting steps but still searching for someone who's actually tried the steps & got it to work. Some had success with other DLNA media servers or by using different software altogether. I want to specifically stream music from a PC to my SGS using DLNA & WMP. Great for portability. Any "dittos"? Resolutions? By the way this device is AWESOME (Sprint Epic 4G) Also I realize this post is verbose; I want it to easily appear for others' search results. Please feel free to copy, paste & post in a more appropriate forum or thread.

Samsung I7500 : Files Of Nandroid Backup On Windows

Jul 29, 2010

I have done several Nandroid backups during Installation of Froyo Nightly build. complete clean phone, phone with main settings adjusted, phone with applications, etc.

All well and fine, but, unorganized as I am, I don't know anymore which is which. I believe that, If I can see a lsit of the files in each .img file, I could figure it out. How do I look into those files?

The answer to that question, at least for the data.img and system.img files, is a small tool called unyaffs. A compiled binary for windows of this file is available at http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XMGZSYOM

Put the unyaffs.exe and the file.img files in a new folder, open up a terminal window (windows-run-cmd), navigate to the folder where the files are and type: unyaffs file.img.
All the files of the image are than extracted to the folder you are in.

The link: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service. I suggest it will be a sticky, since last night I spent 1 hour in the stickies until I found these 2 drivers.

Samsung Galaxy I7500 :: Can't Copy Files To Internal Memory

Aug 15, 2010

Im on Galaxo 1.6.3.3 and have been facing this strange problem since a couple of days. Whenever I mount my internal 8 GB memory and try to copy files into it, the internal memory card automatically un-mounts by itself after a couple of seconds interrupting the file transfer.

This happens almost all the time.

I don't have any such issues with the external SD card.

Should reformatting the internal memory help?
Also, If I reformat the internal memory...I dont think the OS should be affected. I suppose the internal memory is just like a movable drive...with no OS files on it.

Samsung I7500 :: How To Proceed Odin That Doesn't Involve Fresh Windows Install?

Sep 25, 2009

I'm trying to flash my new Galaxy using Odin (because I got it sim-free and I don't have the market). I'm doing this on WinXP inside VMWare on Linux, unfortunately. It had only this to say: <1> Added! <1> Detected!
That is, after I filled in the filename and pressed start, the two boxes went yellow and the timer began counting but there was no other output. I killed it after about 45 mins. I've tried this with the II5 (one file) and IH7 (multiple files) firmware versions linked to from this site. Now, I guess the obvious culprit here is VMWare, but it seems odd that it would find the device and then give up (and NPS and mass storage work as well as expected). Also, even if I don't connect the Galaxy to the PC, the only way I can find to leave the 'downloading...' screen is to pull out the battery - is that normal? I did try with native WinXP on an old laptop too, but it's a 7-year-old installation and it wasn't playing ball... so I'm hoping someone here has a suggestion for how to proceed that doesn't involve a fresh Windows install?

Samsung Epic 4G :: SD Card Format Was Unrecognized

Oct 14, 2010

I just pulled my phone from my pocket and it was frozen so I pulled battery and restarted it. The SD card format was unrecognized. I stuck it in a card reader and it wouldn't show up on my pc. I stuck a different card in my phone and it is fine. I called Sprint and the card is not covered by warranty. The warranties are device specific and Samsung does not feel that they need to cover them. I was lucky that the Sprint store did replace my card with a Sandisk card. I have numerous Microsd cards. They all came with a lifetime warranty. Samsung fails on this note. I still love this phone.

Samsung Epic 4G :: Not Format 32GB SD / Card Damaged ?

Sep 5, 2010

I finally got around transferring my 32Gig card out of my Evo and into the Epic. After I put it in I decided to clean it and reformat it in the Epic. Epic starts the format then comes up with a message "card damaged cant format". I put the same card in the Evo and it formatted just fine and then worked in the Epic. Then I tried to format it again in the Epic and again I get the card damaged pop up. Again it reformatted just fine in the Evo. Any ideas anyone else get this message? Just to add I tried to format a smaller card in the Epic and it was able to format that fine. Once the 32gig card is formatted in the Evo it will work fine in the Epic.

General :: How To Securely Wipe Data From Phone Internal Partition

Sep 26, 2013

how to sanitize my phones' internal memory.

I have an HTC ONE, and a Samsung Galaxy S4 that I am trying to sell. I know that it's fairly easy to recover data from a wiped partition by using programs like "TenorShare Android Data Recovery", unless data has been written over them at least once.

I had taken pictures of some documents containing highly sensitive data with the phone, and would like to make sure that those documents are not recoverable by the next user.

Neither of them have the USB Mass Storage option in the settings, so I can't just use some secure wipe program.

Samsung Captivate :: Damaged Internal SD Card Not Micro?

Jul 21, 2010

When I boot up my phone, I'm getting this message: "Damaged Internal SD Card." Not a micro SD card. It's saying my internal SD card is damaged. Am I screwed? Do I need to return this thing? Is there a way to format the internal SD card on this thing? I found the "Format Card" option in settings. It's working fine, although the fact that this came up in the first place is very troublesome. Some further information: I did the GPS thing where you dial *#*# and some number, then rebooted my phone. My internal card was fine until I rebooted. That was the first time I got that message of a damaged internal sd card.

Samsung Captivate :: SD Card And Phone Internal Storage

Jul 28, 2010

When I look at the settings and "SD card and phone storage" option I see the different types of storage. Based on what I see, please verify the following assumptions are correct. The external SD card is obviously the one I added. I assume it can be used to store media files (via USB, direct write on a PC, etc.). I read until Froyo we won't be able to install apps on this card.
The internal SD card is what is built into the phone for apps and other things those apps write to the phone.

Looks like Google Listen writes to this area (can't make it write to the external SD and not sure why). It appears that the only things writing to there are my camera and of course any music, pics, or videos I load on there directly. Nothing else seems to make use of it. The internal phone storage is for things like the OS and is pretty much off limits. When I go into the "My Files" app on the phone it dumps me into the home directory which happens to be /sdcard. I assume this is the internal SD card? Under that directory it also has "/sd" which appears to be my external SD card. Why would they make it look like "/sd" is a subdirectory of "/sdcard" when it's not?

Samsung Captivate :: Internal SD Card Not Mounted After USB Disconnect

Sep 9, 2010

I'm quite new to Android and the Captivate (but not new to operating systems). I ran into an issue that I can't yet figure out, but I wonder if other people have also encountered. With some USB chargers (notably Blackberry chargers), I've noticed that the USB data connection prompt comes up. Regardless of the setting I choose (including canceling the dialog), the internal SD card is unmounted. If I disconnect the USB cable, the internal SD card is STILL unmounted and I don't get an option in the UI to mount it again. I end up having to reboot the phone. Attached is a screen shot of the SD card status screen when this issue occurs. So, what would be a good way to troubleshoot this? Get dmesg output, perhaps?
