So a while back I was transferring some files between my computer (Win7) and my phone and the phone froze; against everything I know about usb storage devices I disconnected the phone from the computer (don't ask why, I know I f'd up), restarted the phone and all worked ok... except, since then, every time I connect the phone to the computer I get this message about the internal sd card:
View 8 Replies View RelatedI want to wipe the data on the internal SD card but the format command from settings/SD Card is not successful although it appears that it is. Can I format it successfully from Windows?
I am running Galaxo 1.6.3.3
Im on Galaxo 1.6.3.3 and have been facing this strange problem since a couple of days. Whenever I mount my internal 8 GB memory and try to copy files into it, the internal memory card automatically un-mounts by itself after a couple of seconds interrupting the file transfer.
This happens almost all the time.
I don't have any such issues with the external SD card.
Should reformatting the internal memory help?
Also, If I reformat the internal memory...I dont think the OS should be affected. I suppose the internal memory is just like a movable drive...with no OS files on it.
when I look in settings>sd card and phone storage it says:
Internal SD Card
Total space 5.78 GB
Available space 879MB
How come I only have that much free I have looked and cannot see what has filled it all up?
I was trying to install the latest Froyo update on my new galaxy i9000 and ran into problems. The update was JP3. First the phone kept on flashing i.e. screen off and on. and then i had to reboot the phone and same problem. I tried to flash it again with odin but this time I got an error message:
Update Media please wait
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such file or directory) E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount SDCARD:"
Your storage not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions
copy default media content failed.
When I boot it moves past the Galaxy I9000m screen shows me the galaxy screen with animation and sound, the screen then goes of leaving me with a black screen and the buttons lit.
Now, no matter what I do I kept on getting this message. I have a feeling that somehow it messed up the internal sd card of my device.
Is there a way I could repartition my card (if that would solve it) and then reinstall a froyo 2.2 update.
My brother owns the Samsung Galaxy S but it has decided to delete everything off both the internal storage and his SD card!

View 8 Replies View RelatedPrior to installing the external card - the folders app showed /sd. Which I assumed was the internal one. Then I insert the external one, reboot the phone, and tehre is no additional directory in the folder view. Why is this? Secondly, its a 16GB card. Its reported as 14.58GB. The format option is greyed out. Is it automatically mounted at power on? Ideally I want to know where I install things to know that they are on the external card.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI registered because I have this weird problem of the phone deleting any PLS file that I transfer to the internal or external SD card. I can transfer other file types to the card and they stay there. Is this deliberate by Samsung or Android generally? Can anyone else retain PLS files in their SD card?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got my new Samsung i7500 Galaxy and try to connect to the PC, First my NPS rel 1.2.0 did not accept the phone, I could see it, I could se virtual disk, but not connet to the phone , NPS said "Not supported phone", I went to Update NPS, and NPS found rel 1.3.0. IJ1 which I downloaded and installed. Then phone still not connected. NPS displayed message- "this firmware not supported, only supported function is upgrading firmware", well that was easy :-) go to update in NPS, found new firmware version, and NPS downloaded, copied the old version from the phone to PC, and then uploading new firmware, it went all the way on the PC to 100%! and Success - completed.
However Display on Phone is still showing " Downloading..." and show a blue square icon in display, after 2 hours I took the battery out for 5 minutes and put it back in, and the phone goes back to "downloading " -
I have tried to :
Power off Hold volume down + call button + end call button and Volume down + OK (center of d pad)) + power
But this just "lock the phone in a mode with display off".
Any Ideas on how to reset the phone and start on again ? Do I have to turn it in to Samsung?
My phone started exhibiting some strange behavior today regarding sound and mic - neither are working (most of the time). If I am receiving a call, the phone will sound the ring, but when I answer it the speaker and mic go dead. If I hit the volume button while the phone is ringing, the speaker also goes dead. When I try to play music, no sound is produced (although if I plug in headphones I find that it is playing). The problem persists after multiple reboots and the Samsung "song" does play during boot. I'm not sure exactly when this started as it was working fine yesterday.
View 24 Replies View RelatedMy phone has 4gig of internal storage, but the system seems to be using only 3 500mb partitions... /system, /cache, and /data... and a couple of other small partitions.
At the end of mmcblk0 is p6 that is about 2GIG and NOT MOUNTED! Is that space needed for something, or can I add it to /data (p5)? or create a mount point for it? and if so, HOW?
I have a generic Allwinner A13 7" tablet essentially identical to this one. The internal memory is set so that part of it is seen as internal, and part as a fake SD card mounted on /mnt/sdcard. Actual SD cards get mounted to /mnt/extsd.
I find this very annoying for a number of reasons, and would like all the internal memory to be seen as internal with no fake SD cards, and SD cards to be mounted to /mnt/sdcard. If this were one of those tablets capable of running Linux I'd run gparted and do the job from there, but it isn't.
Is there any way to merge the two internal memory partitions into just one?
I'm aware I can edit vold.fstab and invert the two mount points, and I'll keep it as a fallback solution, but I hate the idea of wasting a gig of useful internal space like that.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince the 8gb with in the i7500 is flash and built in, does the phone use this to store apps/games? Or does it store it in the RAM? If it's in the RAM thats now a lot of space for apps/games especially when some are pretty big files.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen making an image I accidentally had Clockworkmod image be saved to the device itself instead of being saved to the external SD card.
I am able to browse to it using Root Explorer and select to Copy it, but how do I PASTE it onto the external SD card when Root Explorer only accesses the device directory and not the external SD card?
Quick 2nd question: I know on some previous devices such as the Galaxy S 4G you were *not* supposed to run Clockworkmod after booting in and from the Apps Drawer, instead you were only supposed to run directly from the startup screen before booting in. Is it OK to actually start the Clockwork Backup/Restore process from the Apps Drawer of the Galaxy S4 and let it reboot and do its thing or is it only supposed to be run BEFORE booting in?
I was originally going to get either the HTC Hero or Motorola Droid but found out they are both CMDA. and the Milestone is out of my budget. People have been suggesting to get the Samsung Galaxy S, that's also out of my budget and looks too much like an iPhone. So i stumbled upon these two phones.I'm leaning more towards the Spica because it has superior battery life, and 800mhz compared to the 528mhz the i7500 has. and it can also play DivX.What's making it a difficult decision is the i7500 has an AMOLED Screen. It can display 16,777,216 Colors while the Spica can only display 65,536 Colors I'm not too sure if that will make a difference. Also it has 5mp w/LED Flash while Spica is only 3.2.One phone has a little of both. This will be my first Android phone I'm coming from a Sony Ericsson W995.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I boot up my phone, I'm getting this message: "Damaged Internal SD Card." Not a micro SD card. It's saying my internal SD card is damaged. Am I screwed? Do I need to return this thing? Is there a way to format the internal SD card on this thing? I found the "Format Card" option in settings. It's working fine, although the fact that this came up in the first place is very troublesome. Some further information: I did the GPS thing where you dial *#*# and some number, then rebooted my phone. My internal card was fine until I rebooted. That was the first time I got that message of a damaged internal sd card.
