quick question, what is the screen made out of glass?
Thought you guys might wanna see the difference between the iphones glass screen and the durable DROID screen.Gorilla protects DROID's glass screen from breakage (Phone Arena News)
View 14 Replies View Related"Corning today announced that its Gorilla Glass -- an ultra durable alkali-aluminosilicate that can withstand the most uber of scratches is engineered into all Samsung Galaxy S phones. The company even goes as far to say that its product enhances the performance of the already eye-popping brilliant Super AMOLED display. Now, itunderstood that the Gorilla Glass doesn make the screen brighter or crisper, but it certainly does add to the phone premium feature set by giving that beautiful screen some much needed protection. All in all, that Super AMOLED screen isn as fragile as you might think, and this could definitely be seen as another reason to choose Samsung gem over the competition." View 3 Replies View RelatedAnybody know for sure whether the Moment's screen is glass or plastic?I've looked around for the answer, but there seems to be conflicting reports. So far I'm amazed at how scratch resistant the screen is.Still pristine after heavy usage, so I'm assuming it's a glass screen. But I haven't been able to find any definitive source.
View 10 Replies View RelatedWell having just got a X10. It has a pre-installed screen protector. Somehow I managed to scratch the screen protector and now I want to remove it however I'm having much difficulty removing it. Now I'm thinking if I should get a replacement screen protector as the Rogers version doesn't come with a spare one or just go without it. Anyone without the screen protector wanna add input about the durability of the mineral glass screen? I know that the screen on the iPod Touch 2G is very durable since I own one without having a protector on but I want to know if the X10s screen is just as durable.

Same thing on my vibrant. I'd take a picture or video of it but i dont think it will show on camera.

SGP Steinheil ULTRA CRYSTAL Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy S i9000
It says it's Galaxy S i9000. I'm not sure it's going to be exact.
If not, anyone want to suggest some alternatives?
No, don't bother suggesting invisishield.
I've used Steinheil before, so I know I like that kind.
Is the Ghost Armor closer to the rubbery feel of the Inivisishield or the hard plastic feel of the Steinheil?
How's the Amzer one?

I've heard that the T-Mo one doesn't cover the buttons at the bottom too, so I'd prefer not to get that one.
How's it going fellow Vibrant owners? I'm new here, been lurking for awhile and decided to register to ask some questions and help out others. My question; is this usb cable the same as the one provided with the vibrant? Amazon.com: Samsung Replacement USB Data Charging Cable for Samsung SPH-M330, SCH-R100, SGH-T939, SCH-R850: Cell Phones & Service looks identical, but anyone have input? or atleast anywhere thats cheap? I'd like to order from Amazon so I can do a group my order for a screen protector for those curious:
Amazon.com: REALOOK T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant Anti-Fingerprint Premium LCD Screen Protector 2 Pack: Electronics.
We tried to root it and apply the lag fix via "OneClickLagFix" app (from the Market), and the phone was very fast for about a week, then slowed down SIGNIFICANTLY. Tonight, it just froze and will not boot past the Galaxy S screen. The screen will then go black and the four buttons at the bottom stay lit. We have gone into recovery and wiped the cache but no luck. Have not yet tried to wipe user data.
Transfer all data from internal storage to a separate drive, then wipe phone? If so, will I have to "flash" a stock/custom ROM to get the phone back up?
Is there any way to lock the screen while on a call? My kids can't get through a conversation with grandma without hanging up on her.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a free app to change my lock screen. I looked at lockbot and it just wasn't what I was looking for. At least the free version wasn't. I am not ready to pay for a app yet. Still new to android. I like my homepage. I use fancywidgets and like the clock and weather and would like that on my lock screen so all I have to do is hit the power button and see the huge clock. I also don't want to have to swipe so far to unlock the screen. Can someone point me in the direction of a app to change my lock screen around? a free app for now.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got the vibrant about a week ago, and so far no major issues. Still fumbling around in the apps market for the good stuff. One thing I found annoying was having to press the power/unlock button and then swiping the screen to unlock the phone every time, is there anything in the market or some setting to avoid pressing the button and just swiping the screen or possibly using the touch buttons on the front of the phone then swiping?

View 5 Replies View RelatedEvery time my screen saves, it requires an unlock to get back in to the phone. Is there a way to say "if I haven't accessed the phone in 5 mins require unlock, otherwise don't"?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded (through tmobile) from a G1 (which I had since launch date, and loved until it just became too slow and all support ended) three weeks ago. I went to the tmobile store, and checked out the options. I LOVED the Vibrant, but I had some concerns over it's apparent "flimsieness"... the sales rep assured me that it only felt breakable, and that the Gorilla Glass screen and other features of the construction made it just as durable as all other phones. So, I got it.
I love it, still.
Thing is, last night, I picked it up off my desk, and it would not unlock. When I looked closer, I could see a small crack running under the screen. The phone has never been dropped, never been hit with any impact... nothing. It has never been out of my possession, never been water damaged... nothing. But, now, it has this cracked screen and won't unlock, won't do anything. Plus, now this morning it is showing a completely pink screen.
Of course, I know these (and all tiny little smartphones) are fragile. I have insurance for that very reason. If I break my phone, I am more than willing to pay the $130 through insurance to replace it. But, I do not feel like I (or anyone else, for that matter) broke this thing. The most impact it has had on the screen is button use on the touchscreen. If this thing is going to do this as a result of normal (actually, probably lighter-than-normal) use, I feel like it is insane for tmobile to expect me to pay for the claim. I do not think it is reasonable to ask a customer to pay $130 for a new phone 3 weeks into owning it, when it has not been damaged due to any human error or damage.
I had a Ghost Armor protector on it, and it was in a plastic protective shell, and it shows NO signs of damage beyond the messed up screen. I feel like that, coupled with the GPS thing (the awesome GPS was the second main selling point the sales rep spouted, after the Gorilla Glass screen!) and the fact that tmobile inexplicably removed my unlimited text option ("accidentally" according to them), should mean something to someone.
So, any ideas for options here? Is there ANY chance that I can tmobile's warranty people to regard this as a warranty issue and not an insurance issue? I do not want to be $400 into a new phone after just 3 weeks, especially with no solid GPS, no Froyo, and the other issues. I have been with tmobile for 5 years, and always justified it by their good customer service; so how can i get that customer care to work for ME now?
I had the weird issue of my screen staying on after texts, missed calls, etc.to the point that it would continue to drain the battery if I let it.The only way to remedy this was seemingly to activate the puzzle lock piece. On a missed text, call, etc., the screen would turn on to notify me with a visible puzzle lock screen, but then shut off after literally 1 second. Now I feel like I'm in a race against my own phone to detect a text and rip it out of my pocket to swipe the screen before it goes black and I have to hit the sleep/power button to turn it back on and swipe it that way. It's stupid.Yes, I want the screen to not be on all day, but damn.1 second? Is there any happy medium?
