When I connect my Vibrant phone to my Win XP system and select as Mass Storage, I can see two removable drives but can't open it? When I try to double click, it says "Please insert disk in to drive D:" My son's Win 7 system accepts it fine.

Ok, so I may be leaving the USA soon. I plan on unlocking my phone and going out of the country with it. I don't know how long I may be gone.maybe years, so here are a few questions.
1. I plan on going South Africa. According to this site, both the phone and 3g should work perfectly right? GSM World Coverage Map- GSM Country List by frequency bands
2. I have seen an app to unlock the Vibrant. It is by DaGentooBoy from XDA. Its called Samsung Galxy S Unlock. Would it be better for me to use this app or to just request T-Mobile to give me the unlock code. Are there any pros or cons for using either method.
3. If the OTA update or Froyo don't come out before I am gone, will I be able to get an OTA over wifi while I am in South Africa. Just to clarify, I will be using a local sim over there. I will discontinue from tmobile when I leave the US I know nothing of rooting. This is my first smartphone, so if possible I would be hesitant of doing any updates via the computer that requires me to loose all my info. I have too many apps and saved games and settings to download again so its just a scary thought of loosing it all.
4. Will google navigation work overseas. I have heard people say yes and no. I am hesitant to buy apps like co-pilot as they cost a lot and have mixed reviews, so I wanted to find out about this.
When I am trying to build my application as a part of image I am getting the following error :

I am wondering why is it so as both ways the apk is present at system/ app only.
I added a few videos to my Vibrant and they wont open and every time I click on one it says "No Application can perform this task".No matter if it is .avi .mp4 or anything...and when I open the video player it only shows avatar and the avatar trailer as videos.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI got my Vibrant yesterday and hooked it up to my WiFi (netgear g-router). Everything worked great for about 30 seconds. I was able to jump through a few pages and then it stops loading eventually I get a message with something to the effect of "cannot connect to server, please try again later". This is not word for word. I called t-mo support and they were not able to find anything so they are sending me a new Vibrant, but I have a feeling that this problem will persist. I read through different posts and found a few that listed this problem some suggested:
-Download the WiFi Fixer app from the android market
-Switch the router settings from B/G to just G (I don't remember what mine are set to now, but I'll try this out when I get home from work).
If I really have to switch my router settings, what will I do if I'm traveling and have to use a hotel's WiFi hotspot or something? Does anyone have any ideas about this? I have no problems with my WiFi on my MyTouch 3G, so I'm not sure if this is a Samsung issue or an Android issue either way, I either have to figure out a fix or get rid of the phone.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFew months ago i installed CM9 on my Galaxy Tab 7+. Everything worked fine to begin with, but after a while i was unable to delete stuff off my microsd card. I wound up buying a new card, copied the music and tv off the old card and installed it. Same problem. Now i have 2 microsd cards that I'm unable to write to at all. I can't write anything to them, can't delete anything off them and can't format them. I've tried using them both in my phone and on 3different Windows PCs with the same results. I have tried the SD card write fix referenced in the Galaxy Tab Plus development section and that didn't fix anything. The problem seems to be with the cards themselves, not the tablet (and phone and multiple pcs).
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is my third phone and I'm staying to give up. A little while ago I plugged my phone into included wall charger and for some reason the phone thought it was a computer. It even said "usb connected". It also have me the option to mount it, which I did. I reset my factory settings and the same thing. So,I disconnected my wall charger and noticed that the usb connector wasn't completely on, so I never it a gentle push to secure it and now I don't have that same issue. Has anyone else experienced this? I didn't unmount the phone since I figured that out doesn't matter since it's not plugged in to an actual computer.

I have USB debugging turned ON.

Well I updated with the official 2.1 but behold when i try to load joeys recovery it refuses to open the bin file. I want to install a custom rom built from his site to remove all the bloat and install live wallpaper etc.
I have been reading for 2 hours and I can't find a fix.
I even tried downloading an older version of swupgrade.
I downloaded the .zip file located in this thread. Every time I attempt to "reinstall packages" it won't work. Yes, I renamed it to update.zip, yes my phone is rooted. The error message simply says "Installation aborted" then "Unable to mount" upon a second attempt. I'm running the Axura ROM 2.0.5 using the Zeam launcher.

View 3 Replies View RelatedLong story: Went in, got my Vibrant, immediately downloaded a few apps to play/test the device in the store. I got handcent and barcode scanner. Went home, tried rooting phone, couldn't get into the recovery menu. Gave up on rooting for the moment and tried to download launcher pro, and immediately after it started the download it gave me a "download unsuccessful" error, regardless of whether I was connected via 3G or Wifi. I then tried downloading several other apps and got the same error. Afterwords, I tried clearing the market's cache, signing in/out of Google Talk, uninstalling the apps I had originally downloaded, rebooting the phone; nothing worked (and I was unable to reinstall the apps I had managed to install in the first place, due to the same error). I then attempted a factory reset and was unable to do that, given the error "No reset was performed because the System Clear service is unavailable." After going through tech support through everything I did, they asked me to do a hard reset of the phone, which I didn't realize used the same recovery menu as one must access to root the phone. Since I couldn't get into the recovery menu for whatever reason (I blamed my fingers at the time), I was told to go back to the store to swap my phone out for a new one. Did that, repeated the app downloading process but didn't connect it to anything other than a car charger, and the app store gave me the same error, and I'm again unable to perform a factory reset or a hard reset. I know it's not my fingers, though, because I was able to get into the recovery menu of a display phone at the store.I'm going back to the store tomorrow to swap my SIM out, since tech doesn't know what else to do with it, but I was wondering if you guys had any input.Short story: First symptom was all market downloads failed with error: Download unsuccessful. Second symptom was inability to perform a factory reset or a hard reset. Possible causes/solutions?EDIT: Problem seems to have been fixed by going to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > (menu) > Filter > All > Download Manager > Clear Data. Will update if anything fails afterwards.

my pantech sky vega a760s got soft bricked. here's what happened:
-the phone won't open unless connected to pc
-when connected, it will only go to charging mode
-when i try to enter recovery mode, this shows up:
"your phone will restart due to error occurred while running application ".i cannot access recovery mode, the only thing i can access is the s/w upgrade mode, which i don't know how to use since i'm not korean and i can't understand pantech's website.
also, when i enter in fastboot mode, all drivers are installed except for a driver named "Android" which is too general for me to manual search (inlcuded an image attachment of the failed driver). How can I unbrick my phone?

But I switch on the mobile network + WiFi at the same time, its work fine for everything included Browser. But after restart my HERO, I can switch on the WiFi without switch on the mobile network and no problem at all, but after using mobile network, problem is coming to me again.

When the phone is unplugged, it says USB connected, and all of the icons are missing from the top of the homepage (time, signal strength, 3g, etc). The pull down menu is also hard to pull down then is real jerky when it does pull down. When the phone is plugged in, it has the signal for the USB and all the icons return, It also shows a full battery, then tho it is not.
