Samsung Vibrant :: Market Problems - Can't Download Anything
Jul 25, 2010I just got my vibrant today and everything works perfectly but, I can't download anything from the market. It says starting download and just gets stuck there. the phone is rooted and idk if that's the problem.

Sep 1, 2010Long story: Went in, got my Vibrant, immediately downloaded a few apps to play/test the device in the store. I got handcent and barcode scanner. Went home, tried rooting phone, couldn't get into the recovery menu. Gave up on rooting for the moment and tried to download launcher pro, and immediately after it started the download it gave me a "download unsuccessful" error, regardless of whether I was connected via 3G or Wifi. I then tried downloading several other apps and got the same error. Afterwords, I tried clearing the market's cache, signing in/out of Google Talk, uninstalling the apps I had originally downloaded, rebooting the phone; nothing worked (and I was unable to reinstall the apps I had managed to install in the first place, due to the same error). I then attempted a factory reset and was unable to do that, given the error "No reset was performed because the System Clear service is unavailable." After going through tech support through everything I did, they asked me to do a hard reset of the phone, which I didn't realize used the same recovery menu as one must access to root the phone. Since I couldn't get into the recovery menu for whatever reason (I blamed my fingers at the time), I was told to go back to the store to swap my phone out for a new one. Did that, repeated the app downloading process but didn't connect it to anything other than a car charger, and the app store gave me the same error, and I'm again unable to perform a factory reset or a hard reset. I know it's not my fingers, though, because I was able to get into the recovery menu of a display phone at the store.I'm going back to the store tomorrow to swap my SIM out, since tech doesn't know what else to do with it, but I was wondering if you guys had any input.Short story: First symptom was all market downloads failed with error: Download unsuccessful. Second symptom was inability to perform a factory reset or a hard reset. Possible causes/solutions?EDIT: Problem seems to have been fixed by going to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > (menu) > Filter > All > Download Manager > Clear Data. Will update if anything fails afterwards.

Nov 1, 2010Had my galaxy S for just over a month and it's a great phone until last night and today when it has started to lock up on me. I have had to remove the battery to kill the phone and then restart it. When it has locked up it displays the following message. Activity Phone (in process com.Andriod.Phone) is not responding
Any one had this happen and what is the cause of this, what do I do to resolve it ? or is it a repair job. Any help would be great as I have had to restart it 6 times today.
Samsung Captivate :: Phone Locks While In A Call?
Sep 21, 2010Okay this is incredibly annoying. My Captivate locks while I am in a call. If I pull the phone away from my ear, the screen will stay blacked out until I press the power button. For a split second, the screen shows locked then automatically transitions to the phone UI. Even if I use speaker phone, the phone eventually locks and I must depress the power button to end the call or dial other numbers. Is this normal for this device? I previously owned the iPhone 3g and the screen would black out, but would come right back on when you moved the phone away from your face or if you just shook the phone a bit.

Can someone recommend a charger that works with the phone from a seller on ebay. I have the wall charger that comes with the phone I just wanted another one for the office and I don't want to pay the huge markup that sprint puts on them.

May 15, 2010I'm trying to see if anyone else is having this probem. After updating to 2.1, now my phone's screen automatically locks after every single phone call. Jan 6, 2010After playing pandora, slacker or using other data intensive apps the radio locks up. The up arrow just sticks and the only recourse is to restart the phone. Anyone else experiencing this? I did find if I turn off bluetooth and wifi(even though im not using it) it doesn't seem to happen nearly as often. Maybe its a heat issue?

Aug 3, 2010I have downloaded a picture attachment from my Gmail that is an 'unwanted picture' which I opened when I went to Gallery/Download folder.It is currently the default preview picture now for the Download folder. I've already deleted this picture from the Download folder, but anytime I download a new picture attachment, it still uses the 'unwanted' pic as the folder preview.I've even tried manually deleting the Download folder using AstroFile Manager.Everything I've tried doesn't seem to work.I desperately need help because currently I'm not able to download any picture from my Gmail account without that stupid picture showing up as the preview for the Download folder.

Apr 21, 2010I recently upgraded to a rooted 2.1 system and all worked well for about a week, including use of the Market. But now I can't download anything from the Market at this point. I've tried every solution I've seen on this and other forums, but nothing has solved the issue. I've tried rebooting through recovery, pulling out the battery, starting Google Talk (apparently that helps with other phones), checked the 'okay to download third-party apps/unknown sources' mark in settings, and cleared the cache out of every application. I've uninstalled every application I've downloaded in the last 3-4 days.
However, I can't find the Market app to clear the cache - would seem like if I cleared the cache from the Market app, that might do the trick. I remember seeing it as an manageable app in 1.5, but it's not showing in 2.1.
Is the Market app in 2.1 hidden somehow? I've used Root Explorer, ASTRO and the stock apps manager but none show the Market program as an application.
Also, are there other suggestions I haven't tried?
The reason it's an issue right now is because I removed the mms.apk program (moved it to the SD card, but it won't re-install -- tried ASTRO and Root Explorer) and was using Handsent SMS exclusively for texting. But Handsent had some problems so I uninstalled it and was about to re-install it but now I can't successfully download anything from the Market. So, I have no texting ability right now.

Nov 10, 2010I'm rooted and just flashed Super Clean rom from Rom Manager. When I go to update current apps or download new ones, it says "Starting download..." and never stops! After looking this problem up and reading other people's posts who have had similar problems, I've tried clearing all cache and data related to any Google-based app. I've done multiple nandroid backups over the past few weeks and have tried restoring back to them. I've tried factory data reset both from Settings-->Privacy and also from recovery mode in CWM. I'm out of ideas.

I do like to use it for music, but as of right now my PSP sounds better, but i'd like to leave that at home when I head off to school.
