I have done hours of research! I have rebooted phone. Debugged rebuggged usb, mounted unmounted sd card, formated sd card, I can't get it to work, I can get the instint and hero to connect instantly and I also tried another moment and that also did not work... I also dowbload the moment usb software.

This is whats going on: i plug my Moment into the the usb port and i get no notification - windows 7 isnt recognizing it
What i have tried: debugged, and rebugged restarted, removed the battery. ive tried windows 7 x64 and x86, win XP - not recognized by any
When i plug my phone in, it gives me a notification that its charging... what is wrong here?
Actually I have a few things I need help with, and I've checked the other threads & google and havent found much either, so here goes:
1) Have anybody tried to connect their moment to their router? I just received my moment maybe 2 days ago, and I have a DLINK WBR-2310 router. its b/g mode (turbo) wpa password/tkip. I havent tried switching between wep, aes, wpa2, no password (open connection), but it appears others who have the HERO has tried all of that, and there have been a very few hits and a ton of misses, so i was hoping that someone here has done this already or may have a solution before i start to wreck my brain trouble shooting.
Changed the WIRELESS SECURITY MODE settings then changed the encryption and authentication to AES and WPA2.
Only problem now is, market doesnt seem to allow me to download anything, but I can still browse the web. Im also getting EXCELLENT CONNECTION.
OK, SCRATCH ^^^^^. Now, everything is working. I just disconnected and reconnected to my WIFI and Im getting an INSANELY 13,320 kbps DL & 1024 kbps UL. I think im going to need some 1040 motor oil to loosen my hands from the M0M3NT now, lol
I really wish there was a way to copy the results & post them here!
2) How do you save things to your SD CARD? I've looked at darn near everything and cannot figure this out! In fact, I dont even see how to even access your SD CARD to start with. I see that you can load wall papers from SD, but no direct way to go to SD card itself.
3) Are you guys (who gets over 12 hrs of batt life) putting your phone in sleep mode quite a bit? Im actually trying to figure out what will work for me.
If setting my display to 10%, leaving it on the entire while, leaving all other things off such as gps, wifi, (no blue tooth dev yet) and then doing a .5a (comp) charge vs a .7a (wall) charge after a full drain, and seeing which one actually holds a longer charge, and then setting everything to MAX & ON and repeating the charging, just to see what I will be comfortable with. I will post results here as well!
4) Has anyone figured out how to put the phone to sleep while on call so that you dont accidently hit other button with your face?
5) Where do I find the tools to back up my entire phone in its factory state, incase I do start to tinker around with rooting? Also, does rooting void your warranty?

Charging time w/ wall charger (while screen on)......... about an AWFULLY SLOW 2.5 hours!
I started charging today at 2:30p EXACTLY. At 4:30 it was 80%. At 4:55 its at 90%, and Im guessing it will be completely charged by 5:20pm. So every 15 mins or so is an additional 10% charge. Since it takes this long, I think it should easily give you at least 66% or 7.5 hrs talk time.
Which raises another question, if they advertise to get about 5 hrs of talk time, and im assuming that includes the phone screen being off since its pressed to your face (saving battery), OR, worst case scenario, you are using BLUE TOOTH which put extra drain on the battery, this is RIDICULOUS in comparison of charging:talk time ratio! Still a GREAT PHONE tho, just wanted to CONFIRM that!
My next test will be the following:
1) How fast it charges being turned off?
2) Which charge actually last longer? .5a (comp) vs .7a (wall)
3) Stand by time with screen both on & off!
4) All settings on MAX, then again with all settings on MIN
5) Cant remember the other things I planned to test, will edit when I remember, __________________________________________________ ______________________________
Something that I Noticed, when you first power up your phone, you have about 55 mb of Ram. When u turn off NFL bloatware, it actually reduces your ram instead of increasing it, down to 48. I wonder why that is?
At least once a day, when someone calls me or I call someone else, I can't hear anything, even the dialing. When I call back, sometimes it sounds like I got some completely different person. The third time, it usually connects properly. This started before I installed the last 2 updates. Anyone have this problem or know how to fix it?

I used to have the "1X" icon on my notifications bar. According to the manual, it meant that I was connected to the "3G" network and was transmitting data (fyi with Sprint). That icon has since disappeared?

Using a Linksys wireless router with a WEP encryption at home. Every time I try to connect my phone says "Obtaining IP Address" and then after a short time it fails.
-Yes, my phone recognizes the router.
-Yes, I have the correct key.
-Yes, I have reset my router and modem, no change.
-Yes, I have restarted my phone.
-Yes, my phone connects just fine to unsecured wireless routers.
-No, I cannot find another thread that has solved this issue.
I am trying to install 2.1 on my wifes Moment and I ran into a problem. I got through the install to the point where you press "start upgrade". I got to 9 seconds elapsed, and it froze. I also had problems with connecting the phone after pressing the volumedown/camera/power button combo.
After having to restart the install I can't even get past the first time you plug the usb cable in. It just does not seem to see the phone plugged in.
I had these same exact problems when upgrading my phone a couple days ago, and must have got lucky. After a bout 2 hours of trying it over and over again, it finally went through and the update worked.
Any ideas?

Is there a program or something that will back up contacts like dashwire does for windows mobile? Basically on dashwire you would install it, it would sync and upload your contacts....then if you ever had to reset the phone, reinstall the program and all your contacts are downloaded to your phone.

The call comes in, I hear the ringtone but no matter what buttons I press, the phone won't respond. I have to wait until voicemail kicks in or the call has ended.
I called Sprint technical support and they're going to send a new (I hope it's new) phone. I hate to set up the phone for the third time. Is there a fix or should I just bite the bullet and get the new? phone? Has anyone had this problem?

I currently have a voice plan, with sprint, for my dying LG Musik and my father's Palm Centro and am seeking to replace my Musik with a Samsung Moment. I have an upgrade available on my account, however I don't want to get locked into a data plan, since I rarely spend any time away from Wifi.
Does anyone know if there is a way for me to use my upgrade to aquire the Moment without commiting to the data plan?
set up the wifes new moment her gmail still says 109 unread I went intp gmail on the pc and marked all as read then refreshed on the phone, no luck, tried going to manage apps and clearing all gmail and refreshing, still no luck short of one by one deleting all 109 any way to fix the count?

A lot of the apps are on the I phone and I touch which is pretty cool. But can anyone tell me if it is possible to maybe change the phone kinda like jail breaking? The biggest concern I have is how fast will the Moment be rooted. Its sounding like they are close with the Hero, and once that is done will that make it easier for someone to figure out how to root the moment? Or is it like starting from scratch from phone to phone? Im also a bit concerned that no one at XDA will be helping with the process since the moment is not an HTC phone. I had a Treo800 when it first cameout, and it seemed like it took FOREVER for roms to make it way to that device. Any thoughts?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI am a Sprint customer looking for an Android phone for basic functions. I am trying to choose between the Hero and the Moment. I have 1 of each right now from Sprint, on the 30 day trial. Here are the challenges I find with each. Does anyone know of any fixes for these?
Hero
1) Phone hangs up during calls because of lack of proximity sensor
2) Speaker phone wont turn off once activated, unless I end the call
3) Vibration mode is very weak and basically useless. Cant feel it in my pocket
4) Sprint Navigation does not work
Moment
1) Battery runs out before end of day
2) Bluetooth is spotty and wont always connect
3) Web navigation not as smooth as Hero.
Here I am with 2 HTC Hero phones, with only one on an active account. I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. There are no scratches or rub marks on it, never been dropped and I have reset it to Factory Specs via the SECURITY MENU and the ESN is clear and ready to be activated on your SPRINT account.Please email me at sy@rayzel.com if you are interested. I upgraded to the samsung moment at the end of December and absolutely love the phone. I have been reading all the posts concerning battery issues and have the same problems myself. I have tried numerous tips and tricks that i have read on this forum to hopefully increase my battery life. My post today is about how to forward a text message using the moment. I upgraded from an Samsung Instict and had no problem forwarding messages using the phone; however, I do not get the option to forward when i hit the menu key when looking at a text.

The real issue is it will play as mpeg 2 or 4 fine, but its the fact that it only shows up as a small rectangle and does not use the full potential of the screen. When I put sd where I saved the movie into my hero, the movie fills up the whole screen even though the dvd is wide screen..I am using DVD Fab to convert my dvds, it works fine with my hero and my ipod touch.
