Apr 14, 2010Does anyone know how to remove the stock apps using root explorer? I search for the app and delete the .apk but the app stays in my app drawer after reboot. What am i doing wrong?

Apr 14, 2010I am new to this (less than a week) and I removed everything with root explorer (and it was so simple). You can get it from the market. I would recommend it if you are not used to linux commands. It was well worth the two dollars for me. The main thing to know is r/w (read/write) vs. r/o (read only). It is just as it says - r/o will only let you read files, while r/w will let you read AND write files (which includes move and delete).

Jun 22, 2010I tried flashing stock back on my phone on two different cpu's and two different roms. I was running joey's rom and now I'm running ultimate dream's rom I think it's called. Whenever I try to flash it with the updater it just hangs and in the progress bar it just says ready. Any suggestions?

Sep 24, 2010Anyone in the Central FL area that would be willing to help me root this phone? I just got my moment 2 weeks ago. I tried rooting it today by following what seemed to be fairly simple instructions but when I went to do the recovery part, I got this message..."Samsung PST MFC Application has stopped working". I tried going thru the whole process again while phone was still plugged in but I kept getting same msg. When I unplugged it and tried turning it on, all I would get was a pic of a phone, a question mark, and a computer. I had to hard boot it. Once I did that, it was on the 1.5 version. I had to take it to the fix it shop to get the upgrade and my contacts back. I'm very scared to even try this again myself but I want it rooted so bad! I want to be able to use it as a modem for my laptop.

Aug 12, 2010I bought an used Samsung Moment via Craiglist about 3 weeks ago. Initially, I had to wiggle my cable to get it charged. After few days, it was not charging nor communicating with my laptop via USB cable. Of course, the Craiglist seller was not willing help me.
After contacting Samsung, I had sent it in to be fixed since it was still under warranty. It just came back today with a note saying:
Your phone is damaged beyond economical repair in the form of a warped board, or missing or damaged components. The factory warranty has been voided.
I know that I can charge my battery via some kind of external batter charger that is around, but can I update my phone and/or root my phone without using USB cable? Can I use a bluetooth connection? If not any idea or suggestion?

Jun 30, 2010This isn't the first time someone has posted a stock app removal guide and probably wont be the last but lately I've seen a lot of threads on the topic so decided to put together a guide of apps that i have removed that has greatly helped out my battery life. For all intensive purposes this is the 'easiest' free way to get rid of the bloat, it does however require root access. You can always just buy root explorer from the market and delete them with it. I tried to make this guide as nob friendly as possible.

Dec 14, 2009Sometimes I'll reply to a text message and my reply will appear above the one I just received. Somehow it gets out of order. Is there a way to fix this? Installed handcent and the order of the messages are fine it just occurs on the stock app but I much prefer the stock app.

Sep 12, 2010I have the contacts set up in my starred groups already but can't figure out how to text the contacts in a specific group (e.g. Family, CoWorkers, Friends) from my stock messenger. I can do it using the handcent app and although I have the notification setting off on the stock messenger the message still makes its way to the stock messenger and handcent which I believe would take up twice as much memory on my phone causing it to lagg. if I am wrong in assuming this and what I can do to fix this whether it be the correct way in sending a message to a group or deleting the stock messaging app, etc...

Jul 28, 2010I was using Swype before the public beta was released. Registered, downloaded and installed Swype, public beta version.
It is not stable on my phone. As recommended by developers, I have deleted the app, the installer, and re-did the whole thing but it still does not work. Every time after I use the phone -- get a call or make a call -- Swype stops working. At the end of swyping a word, it just gives a visual and audio notification, like it used to when the license expired on the pre-beta version.
Any one having similar experience or successfully using Swype beta on Samsung Moment with stock Android 2.1?
Samsung Moment :: Stock Messaging App Won't Stop Notifications
Aug 27, 2010This may not be the best place for this, but I'm hoping someone else here has seen this. The stock messaging app won't stop notifications even if they're turned off...even if the app is deleted? If mms.apk is installed, it keeps notifying me even though it's notifications is turned off. If I remove mms.apk it keeps notifying me that I have 0 new messages. I've tried rebooting, reinstalling and removing. I'm running a sdx kitchen rom with meatkernel 2.0.9/no jit and I have ChompSMS installed. I don't understand how the app can keep notifying me if it's uninstalled? Other than this, the rom has been rock solid with good bat life, so I don't want to flash to stock and start all over for the 5th time this week.

Mar 18, 2010I recently converted to BH_MAN stock BH2 image + root. I'm having the following situation:After the install and performing the Master reset everything is working fine, I proceeded to download some applications and everything was operational. I rebooted my phone (for some reason I do not recall right now, happened 2 days ago) and when it came up, I had several applications corrupted: There was an icon in the same place that the original was with the same name but different icon, and if I clicked it would advise that the application was not installed. I would go to my downloads and the application management sections and see the application and it wouldn't work till I uninstalled it, then reinstalled it.Now, last night I also uninstalled the T-Mobile "My Account" software and let my battery drain out completely to have it sync correctly (that was another problem I was having, batt would say I was at 20% and I had 4 bars in the screen, fixed now) and once I let it charge completely I powered it on and some applications were uninstalled again, but the T-Mobile Account software was there again! Can anyone explain if this is a permanent problem or is there something to be done?

Jul 22, 2010Anyone know of any navigation apps besides the google ones and the stock carrier one?(i have sprint). I dont know maybe its just my phone but i made a simple drive earlier in clear coverage areas and Sprint Navigation just kept re-routing over and over again and when it wasnt it would jsut sit there and not do nothing until i tapped the screen then it would spring back to life with directions that were hit and miss. Is the GPS really that terrible on thsi phone? Sprint Navigation worked perfect on my blackberrys and even the Palm Pre.

Jan 16, 2010I am currently running CL14 stock with Open Home and I wanted to let you security conscious folks know about a security issue I discovered. I hit the end button and pulled up my phones lock screen. Decided to test the new emergency dialer and when I pulled that up Open Home had force closed. When I hit end it returned me to the main screen w/o me entering my combination. I assume this could happen with any force closed app so although it's a rare issue that something FCs in the background it is possible and is a security issue. Just a heads up.
