View 1 RepliesI am running Ubuntu Linux (Jaunty) JDK 6.0 and am getting a strange error for my first app. i created the project and set the SDK home. And also the JAVA_HOME is set. But I can't run the app.
Your Project Contains error(s) please fix them before running your application.
The only thing I see on the console logs are the following:
CODE:.................

When I click Run as Android Application, I get the following error.
Just wanted to know is it possible to install Fastboot on Ubuntu Linux. If so, any guide or link? I hate starting my Windows just to flash another kernel.
But also I would need drivers for my SE Arc S , is it even possible?
I have been trying all morning and half g today trying to get the bloody thing to instill. I have followed the instructions in the txt file inside but when I go into terminal and CD into the folder and type Android like the instructions day it cannot find three file or if I try it as ./tools/android permission denied and I sudoed in before hands so I have root access.

Recently I got her to jump ship to the DI and so far she is loving it. My request now is, what is the EASIEST program to sync music with? (Obviously, it needs to be Linux compatible) I've never been a music/mp3 listener so I'm not real fluent on the best methods for storing/playing music. Do you keep all your music in one folder on your phone or SD card? Do you organize it via folders? Do you use the stock music player app? If you all don't mind, give me ideas on the best music management and I'll get her setup and running smoothly so she'll never look back to iPods/Windows again!!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI picked up a Samsung Moment through Sprint back around June. I wanted the new Sprint 4G phone but figured I would make due with the Moment until the craze died down. Anyhow, I own a small firearm forum,Semi-auto Rifles. This is my main reason for going with a driod phone. It allows me to monitor my site away from home without popping out my laptop. Well for the last 2-3 months the Moment did it's job flawlessly. I was able to use it to maintain my site...even when my cable modem blew up one time and some cable guy disconnected our cable by mistake. My problem started this past weekend when all of a sudden my Samsung Moment started having issues locating my website. I keep getting the same "Web Page Not Available" message. Now sometimes it will allow me to access the home page and then freak out on the forum index page. This is the only site I have trouble with, I can access any other site and surf until I'm blue in the face. I took my phone down to the local Sprint store and they said my phone was out dated. So after 15mins and deleting all my Apps, they had my phone working again. Then come about 2-3hrs later, I started getting the same Web Page Not Available" message. During the whole time my site has been up and running with zero issues.
Anyhow, does anyone have a clue? I'm lost and this phone is worthless if I can't even access my own website. While I was at the Sprint store, I started tooling around on the new HTC 4G phone. It pulled up my web site and worked for about 10-15 minutes before it started giving me the same dang "Web Page Not Working" message. So I'm not sure if it's a phone thing or a Sprint thing? Then for the interest of Science, I started surfing other related forums to see if maybe Sprint was blocking firearm forums. I was able to tool around on other gun forums for about 10 minutes with zero issues.
I'm running a custom ROM (4.2.2) on an HTC Vivid. When I connect to my PC via usb, Windows only sees the internal storage, not the external sd card, and there's no way to navigate to the System partition to access.
When I was running the stock HTC ICS, Windows would mount the external card as a separate drive. I know the file system hierarchy is different with JB. Is this why it only sees the internal storage now?
I am trying to access the sdcard on ADP2 from command prompt using adb tool and from window explorer, it says "Access is denied". I have followed the below procedure:
1) Installed the USB driver from Android site. 2) Connected the phone 3) Opened the "USB Connected" option from the notification bar of the phone, clicked "Mount". Also USB Debugging is enabled. 4) I am able to get the device name using "adb devices" command, also I am able to install APK file
But, when I tried to push APK or any text file to the sdcard, it is failing. This is the command I tried: "adb push Hello.apk /sdcard", it gives an error "Permission denied".
Also I tried accessing the sdcard from window explorer, it gives an error "Access is denied".
Also tried formating the sdcard, this sdcard works in the laptop and other non-Android phones, also did phone reset.
Is it possible to access the filesystem of an sdcard image through something like Windows Explorer?
i.e. mount the sdcard as a drive or web folder or something. I have some xml files stored on my sdcard image which I frequently want to edit.
Ideally I would like to be able to edit these files directly using my fave xml editor (either through the filesystem or webdav). But is this possible?
If not, is the only alternative to pull the xml file from the sdcard to the dev machine filesystem, edit and the push it back?
i successfully got into adb in recovery mode fairly easily on my ubuntu 10.4 laptop using the following method- this should also work for a linux live boot from a usb flash drive
in one terminal tail and follow log messages
~$ tail -f /var/log/messages
In another terminal run the loop
Then
1. plugin usb and keep it plugged in
2. remove battery, eject sd card.
3. put battery in
4. press vol- and power
5. after around 6 seconds, your terminal with the log will show something like "new high speed USB..."
6. press vol- to select recovery
7. press the power button
8. IMPORTANT- as soon as you see a new log entry (something like "USB disconnect"), pop in the sd card
check your loop terminal for adb. if it doesn't work, repeat at step 2
My apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere, but if it has I have not found it. Is there any good way to allow either Ubuntu 9.04 or Mac OS X 10.5 recognize the i7500 for file transfer, such as removing photos/movies to the desktop or adding music to the phone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis version of Karmic (9.10) Ubuntu was made for desktops. It is not a mobile OS and has no phone/text apps. It runs as a completely separate OS that displays on your phone. While this OS does run "natively", you can only see the lxde gui through a VNC viewer. The filesystem file stays on your sd card. Installing with the install script does not fully install the OS to your phone, but rather allows you to boot and run with commands from /system/bin instead of the ones placed in /sdcard/ubuntu Any changes made can be reversed by typing rm -rf /sdcard/ubuntu in a shell/terminal or deleting that folder from root explorer/astro. While this can do no harm to your phone whatsoever, it can freeze it and hog the cpu completely. I can guarantee that no one will keep this on his/her phone for more than a week. It is simply proof of concept. You can view the OS on your computer, but you must use WiFi. Other similar ports *cough* Vibrant *cough* lack features such as many graphical apps, but this strives to be as fully featured as possible. All apps should run, but don't try to multitask. It's a phone. Not a computer. This is a thinktank because it's not polished enough for me to flat out call it a release. There are many errors and crappy ways of doing things. If you want to help (I don't expect you to; it's futile and useless) run things from terminal and look at the bugs in the README on the desktop.
All directions and credits are hardcoded in. If you read the outputs of the commands, you will have no problem. However, a starter's guide is below.
Download ubuntu.zip and unzip it
Mount your sd card to your computer
Copy the ubuntu folder to your sd card *!THIS TAKES UP 2 GIGABYTES!* and it will take a while to copy.
Unmount your sd card, but keep your phone connected to your computer
Open an adb shell (adb shell if you have the binaries installed, ./adb shell in the tools folder of the sdk if you don't have them installed)
cd /sdcard/ubuntu
su (also grant superuser rights on the phone when it pops up)
sh ./ubuntu.sh (errors are common, but you will receive the directions to type 'bootlinux' if everything succeeded)
bootlinux
Follow the directions on screen! To use a command line, root@localhost# means that you have access. To use a gui:
cat gui (and then follow the directions)
Read every readme that you can find
How to set up a localhost VNC server with no network lag.
I replaced my original sdcard with a sandisk 16gb card. Everything went well until I started getting these blasted read on errors. Earlymon suggested a fix from another board but I don't have a stand alone card reader so I couldn't do it that way.
I was wondering if I just backed up all my stuff from my sdcard to my iMac and then just reformatted my sdcard via the phone, would that solve my problems?
I've got some code that downloads mp3s remotely over a streaming url connection... This all works fine but my problem is once the file is complete and I pull up the music app it's not there. A reboot of the phone and it now shows up... anyone know how to force this refresh to occur from without my code?

View 9 Replies View RelatedHere I am with 2 HTC Hero phones, with only one on an active account. I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. There are no scratches or rub marks on it, never been dropped and I have reset it to Factory Specs via the SECURITY MENU and the ESN is clear and ready to be activated on your SPRINT account. Please email me at sy@rayzel.com if you are interested. Maybe we can work out a swap. Now for the additional 1 to 2 feet of snow that is forecast for this afternoon and tomorrow, on top of the 2.5 feet still on the ground.

There is an unresolved issue (issue 4635) on code.google.com, which states that adb won't connect to non-HTC devices under Linux (?). From my experience, that is certainly true for Galaxy. Please tell me that I'm wrong. Debugging is on, and lsusb outputs.

I am new to Android and have the following problem: When I get a sms I get a notification in the upper bar. I scroll down the bar and access the sms by clicking on it. Now I can read the incoming sms in the bubble but the notification does not go away. I have to click on the bubble to get the complete sms (even if its only a short text) so the notification goes away.
I think this is really stupid that I have to actually click on the bubble (even if I already can read the whole text) so the notification goes away.
In other words: I want it to act the same way as the iPhone. Is there any way?

Recently on Sprint's Moment forum a member by the name Mkeng5 has been posting pretty vocal complaints about the Samsung Moment. Not only does he claim the Moment is defective, but he goes a step further and even cites Samsung's own Warranty Policy.
View 38 Replies View RelatedI currently own a Palm Pre and I'm ready to ditch it for an Android device. Don't get me wrong, webOS is clean and has a lot of potential, but for now...lacking would be a good (albeit understated) word to describe it. I want to jump the Pre ship for the Samsung Moment, but one thing I keep reading about the Moment is bothering me - everyone says it doesn't have multi-touch. However, I recently read that multi-touch is something Android doesn't yet support. This knowledge was previously unbeknownst to me since I haven't used an Android device since the G1 first launched. Since the Moment uses a standard Android build, the OS wouldn't allow multi-touch even if the phone were capable of it. So my question is: Does anyone know whether or not the Moment is capable of multi-touch? If it's simple a shortcoming of Android, I can deal with it since I know Android 2.0 should finally support it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedBought the Galaxy S yesterday. I connected the phone to my Windows 7 (64-bit) laptop directly (no USB hub). It detects the two internal memories, but the moment I access them; it says please insert the disk in the drive. What might be problem here? The memory shows as mounted in the phone. Also, Kies application does not appear to be working on Windows 7 64-bit. It does get installed properly, but does not detect the Galaxy S.
View 7 Replies View RelatedLast week I was in the US and had gotten the AT&T pay-as-you-go sim. It charges 1c/kb and I thought that's not too bad since I *only* get outlook and yahoo email. Well, *before* I knew it, it sucked up $14.40 for internet access....Frantically called AT&T customer service and after a long wait, they told me that my device had access the service and downloaded 1.5Mb! I asked them if there was a way to turn off the GPRS(since I was mostly interested in their $2/day unlimited calling service) and they said they don't have a way to turn it off Tried a bunch of things like turning off auto-sync (in settings) etc...but STILL I ended up paying $40 by the end of the day!!
Is their a way to turn off GPRS completely and also monitor what applications are accessing the service? All I have to go by is what AT&T says at the website!
I am trying to open a secure website (https) and the Moment stock browser balks. Will another browser work or is this a limitation on the phone?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've already done the update but both pre and post update, my Moment intermittently won't respond when getting a call. The call comes in, I hear the ringtone but no matter what buttons I press, the phone won't respond. I have to wait until voicemail kicks in or the call has ended.
I called Sprint technical support and they're going to send a new (I hope it's new) phone. I hate to set up the phone for the third time. Is there a fix or should I just bite the bullet and get the new? phone? Has anyone had this problem?
What experiences have you had with replacement phones from Sprint?
Should I be worried about getting a lemon phone?
Does setcpu speed up the Moment at all or is its only real use for downclocking to save battery?
