View 1 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else experiencing problems downloading and running apps from the market due to low memory issues? Why did they only put 512MB of internal memory for app storage on this Epic when the AT&T galaxy version got 8GB of internal memory in addition to the 16GB micro Sd card???
My memory is full now, and without android 2.2 I can't move apps to the SD card. They should have provided all of their galaxy class phones with the 8GB internal memory.
what will be stored on the internal phone storage vs phone memory vs sd card? I see that phone memory is much less than phone storage.
View 1 Replies View RelatedPrior to installing the external card - the folders app showed /sd. Which I assumed was the internal one. Then I insert the external one, reboot the phone, and tehre is no additional directory in the folder view. Why is this? Secondly, its a 16GB card. Its reported as 14.58GB. The format option is greyed out. Is it automatically mounted at power on? Ideally I want to know where I install things to know that they are on the external card.

BUT it's not working.
I have a galaxy y pro. It's still functional and I want to add useful apps in it. Unfortunately for a smartphone it only has 160mb internal memory.
It's already rooted.
How do I turn my sd card into the internal memory?
That way if I download apps like zombie run it goes directly to the sd card.
Oh snap! I don't have a witty tapatalk signature!
Im with samsung galaxy mini 2 s6500d how i can change internal memory with sd card ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I look at the settings and "SD card and phone storage" option I see the different types of storage. Based on what I see, please verify the following assumptions are correct. The external SD card is obviously the one I added. I assume it can be used to store media files (via USB, direct write on a PC, etc.). I read until Froyo we won't be able to install apps on this card.
The internal SD card is what is built into the phone for apps and other things those apps write to the phone.
Looks like Google Listen writes to this area (can't make it write to the external SD and not sure why). It appears that the only things writing to there are my camera and of course any music, pics, or videos I load on there directly. Nothing else seems to make use of it. The internal phone storage is for things like the OS and is pretty much off limits. When I go into the "My Files" app on the phone it dumps me into the home directory which happens to be /sdcard. I assume this is the internal SD card? Under that directory it also has "/sd" which appears to be my external SD card. Why would they make it look like "/sd" is a subdirectory of "/sdcard" when it's not?
Background: I have a ZTE Awe with Jelly Bean 4.1.2.
I just recently mounted a 32GB SD card in the efforts to expand my storage capabilities and realized (after a little research) that this is mostly beneficial for storing media. After learning that, I figured I would start moving any permissible apps and pictures to the SD card to avoid all the 'insufficient storage' and 'low memory' warnings.
In addition, I changed my 'Save Location' (under Storage Settings) from 'Phone' to 'SD Card.'
ISSUE: The issue that I have noticed is that after moving all my pictures to my SD card, the Internal Storage 'Pictures, videos' segment says that it contained about 34MB. I thought this was odd as I moved all my pictures to the SD card and deleted the albums stored on the phone. So, as a test, I took another picture. Sure enough, now it contains about 35MB and remains the same even after I deleted that new photo.
So the question is, why does the internal storage being consumed by pictures that were transferred or deleted? Based on my experiment, it will continue to consume space even though I am deleting the images.
Additional Question: I have read on some other forums that the camera app has a setting to determine the default storage location of where new pictures are stored. However, when I go to 'Storage Location' under the camera options, it just takes me to the 'Storage Settings' menu from the main 'Settings' menu and I can't do anything different other than see that my 'Save Location' is already 'SD Card' as opposed to 'Phone'.
How can I ensure that all future pictures, videos and media are by default saved to the SD card?
so my galaxy s2 has been running on RR 3.0.5 with the latest siyah kernel. A problem I've been having is frequent media corruptions, and to solve that, I thought reformatting the internal storage would work. After doing so, it doesn't recognize my sdcard. What can I do to fix this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIm on Galaxo 1.6.3.3 and have been facing this strange problem since a couple of days. Whenever I mount my internal 8 GB memory and try to copy files into it, the internal memory card automatically un-mounts by itself after a couple of seconds interrupting the file transfer.
This happens almost all the time.
I don't have any such issues with the external SD card.
Should reformatting the internal memory help?
Also, If I reformat the internal memory...I dont think the OS should be affected. I suppose the internal memory is just like a movable drive...with no OS files on it.
I have this strange memory problem on my Samsung Galaxy SII Last week I flashed CheckRom RevoHD on my cellphone and everything went well (Titanium Backup etc...)
This morning I downloaded and installed Omega Files (Omega Series ROM kitchen) on my cellphone after a few hours it switched off. And then it took like 10 minutes to switch back on as the screen was stuck on the splash screen.
I had like 500-600Mo of free memory out of 2Go for apps and now I only have 20Mo...
Is there any file manager (that sorts folders by size) out there so I can do so cleaning ?

View 2 Replies View Relatedim new to android, I have a HTC Hero, few weeks ago i started installing different applications after a while it i got the error message about low internal memory, I played with the phone a little and deleted somethings, but now many of the application donot work but their icon are still showing up. but when i try to open them.
some software like google sky, notepad have disappeared. how can i get my phone back to the way it was before. i did a factory default data reset. but no help. please help me to get all my previews applications back.
I've started seeing some apps that offer to read/write data to the internal phone memory (like Super KO Boxing 2, which offers to save a whopping 52MB to the phone memory). I suppose this is because newer Android devices have a lot of internal storage, as opposed to my devices, which have very little. I would like to support internal storage in my app as well.
But it's a bit difficult to implement a solution to something that I don't really know how it works. For example, do these newer devices allow users to upload files to the internal memory, like it's possible to do with the SD card? Can someone explain internal storage from an user perspective and recommend strategies for supporting read/write operations both for internal and external memory (ie: letting the user choose which memory to use at startup, like the Super KO Boxing 2 app)?
when I look in settings>sd card and phone storage it says:
Internal SD Card
Total space 5.78 GB
Available space 879MB
How come I only have that much free I have looked and cannot see what has filled it all up?
I have a Samsung Note 3 updated to 4.4.2
I deleted some videos by accident and I need to get them back. I don't have any added memory, everything is written to the internal storage. ALL of the recovery software I have tried is asking for USB mass storage or doesn't work.
DiskDigger App also doesn't work. I read that mass storage is no longer available on 4.4.2. Supposedly everything connects with some new system called MTP.
How can I get my files back from the internal memory? There MUST be some way to do this. There must be some way to read the entire internal storage disk!
just bought the ally for my wife (i have a droid) well the internal memory widget from the market says she has 152mb of storage space. this was less than the eris she had before how could this be?

Now my problem, I was recently running out of internal memory (which was 8 GB) so I formatted my internal memory from my computer. After that my internal memory has disappeared. Now I keep receiving a "damaged storage" message. When I touch it, a format option comes up but when I format it a message appears "checking for errors" but nothing happens. I tried reseting my device but no luck there. I can still access the external memory sd card.
P.S. My device is not rooted
Do the apps get stored on the internal SD card on the phone? Or on the section where it says Internal phone storage?

First the phone kept on flashing i.e. screen off and on. and then i had to reboot the phone and same problem. I tried to flash it again with odin but this time I got an error message:
Update Media please wait
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such file or directory) E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount SDCARD:"

copy default media content failed.
When I boot it moves past the Galaxy I9000m screen shows me the galaxy screen with animation and sound, the screen then goes of leaving me with a black screen and the buttons lit.
Now, no matter what I do I kept on getting this message. I have a feeling that somehow it messed up the internal sd card of my device.
Is there a way I could repartition my card (if that would solve it) and then reinstall a froyo 2.2 update.
Can anyone please check and post the output of parted from their galaxy. Code:
