General :: Samsung Galaxy S2 - Reformatted Internal Storage - SDCard Not Detected

Aug 26, 2012

so my galaxy s2 has been running on RR 3.0.5 with the latest siyah kernel. A problem I've been having is frequent media corruptions, and to solve that, I thought reformatting the internal storage would work. After doing so, it doesn't recognize my sdcard. What can I do to fix this?

The phone has only about 300mb internal storage and can barely handle its own updates(because of the limited storage). so i would like to know if its possible to make the phone "think" that some of the sd card is part of its internal memory? I found an adb driver for it(dont ask me where or which one because i had no idea and started messing with one until it worked) i have not tried rooting but can if i need to.

General :: SGH-T589 Samsung Gravity Smart - Internal Storage Full?

Oct 16, 2013

why my Android's internal storage is full. I don't think I have anything on there except for the 18 stock apps I have (including apps like titanium backup, and Link2SD that came with my ROM). I've gotten rid of all the bloatware on the phone, deleted most of my cache, and moved all of my downloaded apps to the SD card. I've even gone as far as to replace the web browser with Opera mini (and put it on the SD card), and prevented the device from installing a 10 MB update for the google play store. Even though the phone only has 14 MB (138/152 MB), I would think that would be more than enough to receive text messages. The phone doesn't even want me to do that.

I do have a few thoughts as to what could be causing this problem. First off, even after I've deleted an app via titanium backup, the app still appears in titanium backup with a line through it. This leads me to believe that the app still has data left on the phone. Second, I'm thinking Link2SD isn't actually moving all of the app to the SD card. In that case, I guess I don't have any choice but to remove all of my extra apps.

I actually have one solution that may or may not work. If I could somehow make the device treat my extra (32 GB) SD card into thinking it's the phone's external storage, then I wouldn't have to worry about overloading it at all. Would this work flawlessly?

Here's some extra information that may or may not be useful.

Device Model: SGH-T589 - Samsung Gravity Smart
Android Version: 2.2.2
ROM: <ROM> Samsung Gravity Smart T589 <10/26/11> - xda-developers

General :: 2 Small Internal Storage - How To Swap SD To Be Main Phone Storage?

Aug 23, 2013

I've bought this chinese clone of the SIII, it's a MT6575. It's great except for the internal storage, which supposedly is 500MB but there seems to be an invisible SD storage which is 2GB. It's really confusing... When I go to Settings -> Storage there are 3 memories: "Internal Storage" (claims to be 4GB but it's fake, it's actually 500MB), "Phone Storage" (claims to be 16.5GB but it's probably 2GB), and finally my SD, "SD Card" (32GB).

The thing is, I'm having problems downloading big apps because apps go to "Internal Storage" which is 500MB only, and which files are stored in the "Phone Storage" (maybe internal & phone are actually the same?). However when I go to Settings -> Apps, on the "Downloaded" tab, the apps are in "Internal Storage" (500MB), and on the "On SD Card" tab, it shows that apps are in "Phone Storage" (the ones I moved to SD). This means my 32GB SD isn't being used by the system when I send apps to SD probably.

Also, my 32GB SD card is found in /mnt/sdcard2, and the /mnt/sdcard... I don't know which storage is that.

So basically all this is happening because I tried to Link2SD with my 32GB SD doing all the 2 partitions stuff and so, but Link2SD never detects the "secondary SD" which is the 32GB SD, as this fake SD card, "Phone Storage", is probably what the programs thinks to be the SD card.

General :: Mounting Second Partition Of SDCARD As Internal Memory?

Aug 17, 2012

my internal SDCARD is corrupted and the /data partition is unusable.

My device is i9003 and it's running on MIUI at the moment. By default MIUI didn't detect my external SD or my internal SD but after editing "vold.fstab" I was able to mount the first partition of my external SDCARD as external memory and everything was good, I could finally use the camera and pretty much do everything else.

But I was still unable to mount the second partition of my external SDCARD as my internal memory which meant none of my messages could be saved and the phone would pretty much go back to factory settings after a reboot, this apparently is because the /data partition (present on the internal memory) stores all the user data such as the time, the theme I'm using, etc and not having a /data partition meant none of these settings were really saved.

Having no internal memory also means I cannot install any apps such as Link2SD.

Moving on, after many hours of googling I found out that it might not be possible to mount the internal memory using "vold.fstab" and the only way to do it could be by mounting the memory manually during init.

I want to use the second partition of my external SDCARD as internal memory, this is likely to solve all my problems and make my phone usable again.

One thing is its not cracked, because i am able to access it from recovery when i mount the usb storage using clockworkmod, it displays the contents in computer.

Also I was thinking if can i use external SD card to save my camera pictures ? It does not have camera menu options as storage location.

Samsung Fascinate :: Internal Storage At 0 And I Can't Seem To Wipe It / How To Do This

Nov 11, 2010

Here is the situation, I rooted my phone a few weeks ago but didn't do anything beyond that. Installed a few apps like titanium backup and ROM manager.

I finally decided to try out a new ROM. Unfortunately I choose a voodoo rom without really understanding what I was doing. I ended up with some issues of everything force shutting down as soon as the phone started. So I downloaded all of the factory default files and used ODIN to flash everything back to stock. (System, recovery, and kernel tar files.)

While that seems to have worked, my internal phone storage claims to be zero. I have tried cleaning the cache through the settings->applications but while it seems to work, it still says zero.

I added the voodoo disable folder to the voodoo directory on the SD card but that didn't seem to change anything. I then read somewhere that I should be able to delete the entire voodoo directory after I flashed back to stock, so I did. Same issue.

I've tried the privacy->reset all data, but that fails. It's hard to read, but I think it says something about not being able to mount something and "data wipe failed".

I've put over CWMrecovery.rar in Odin and tried to use the wipe data option in it, but anything I choose after the initial update.zip file results in a blank screen. (Pressing the home key backs it out to the menu.)

adb still works, but I've lost root, so there isn't much I can do. I've tried re-rooting, but as soon as the phone reboots, the files I pushed over disappear. Almost as if it is stuck in a factory restore loop or something. I even have to go through the startup wizard everytime the phone reboots and I loose the gmail account that I have setup each time.

General :: Write Only Access To Internal / External SDCard On Kitkat

I am using a mt6582m device with kitkat 4.4.2 with supersu. I can use root to write to system, data and cache using es file explorer, can also read and write to any sd card, but apps like titanium backup, online android backup, ram expander can't read/write to sd card.

Eg.1: ti backup read backups, can do all operation except backup and restore.
I had read a lot, changing backup path didn't worked nor any odex file is there. Using v6.1.5.6.
Eg. 2: ram expander can create swap file on sd but can read it saying 'not found'. Swap can be used with cache partition.
Eg. 3: online nandroid backup says pat not vaild.

I had tried, sd fix app, manually editing platform.xml, xposed module to 'handel external storage', change permissions using es file explorer, editing ramdisk.

There is storage/sdcard0 and 1
Also mnt/sdcard and mnt/sdcard2 (symlinked)
Also mnt/media_rw/sdcard0 and 1 (not readable even in es file explorer)

Samsung Captivate :: SD Card And Phone Internal Storage

Jul 28, 2010

When I look at the settings and "SD card and phone storage" option I see the different types of storage. Based on what I see, please verify the following assumptions are correct. The external SD card is obviously the one I added. I assume it can be used to store media files (via USB, direct write on a PC, etc.). I read until Froyo we won't be able to install apps on this card.
The internal SD card is what is built into the phone for apps and other things those apps write to the phone.

Looks like Google Listen writes to this area (can't make it write to the external SD and not sure why). It appears that the only things writing to there are my camera and of course any music, pics, or videos I load on there directly. Nothing else seems to make use of it. The internal phone storage is for things like the OS and is pretty much off limits. When I go into the "My Files" app on the phone it dumps me into the home directory which happens to be /sdcard. I assume this is the internal SD card? Under that directory it also has "/sd" which appears to be my external SD card. Why would they make it look like "/sd" is a subdirectory of "/sdcard" when it's not?

Samsung Captivate :: Format Internal Storage And Reinstall ROM?

Sep 18, 2010

I finally decided to apply a lag-fix to me phone. I used the RyanZA fix available in the market. I'm not exactly sure on the stock partition configuration on the Captivate but if I understand the lag-fix, an ext2 partition is created and the system files are moved to that partition. Thinking ahead for when Froyo arrives, I'm wondering if I can format all of my internal storage and reinstall a ROM. If I format the internal storage, do the necessary partitions need to be created manually or does installing a ROM create the needed partitions? I'm fairly new to Android so excuse me if my terminology is off.

Samsung Vibrant :: Can Not Access From PC The SD Or Internal Flash Storage

Jul 20, 2010

Initially all worked OK. But then after some installs from the Market i am not able to access any internal flash storages. Phone was not rooted.

Here are some facts:

- i see the drive letters assigned for both of them on PC but when you click Explore the message is "Please insert a disk into drive M: (or N or whatever)".
- They are shown as mounted on the phone . Dismount and mount again changes nothing
- the phone is recording photos/videos OK on internal memory means flash is working fine.
- SD card is perfectly working too. if you extract it and put into computer you can read/write it. On the cell you can play music from it etc no problems
- I restored everything with Factory Data Reset but things did not change
- Same story from another PC
- Samsung Kies shows the files in PC Windows Media Player which are on Vibrant's SD card but can not read/download them

Is this some driver problem ? Or flash memory is locked by Vibrant OS?

I suspect EasyTether or PDANet third party driver for Samsung phones is responsible.
Tethering works though

General :: Samsung Galaxy S5 Unknown Storage Usage

Apr 25, 2014

I've been out of the Android game for awhile now. My first smart phone was an HTC Inspire and after that I jumped to the iPhone 4S. Well now I decided to go back to Android and I picked up a Galaxy S5 since I was impressed with my wife's S3. Love the phone, but I have one question that I can't quite figure out.

The AT&T Galaxy S5 has 16GB of memory. The available memory is a little over 10GB due to all of the bloatware and OS files, of course. Well I went out and purchased a 64GB MicroSD card and expanded that bad boy greatly. I moved any apps that I can over to the SD card and all of my music is over there as well. Well, here is the problem.

Out of the 10+ gigs available on the device (not SD), I only have 4GB free and 7.5GB used. I should not have that much space being used AT ALL. If I look at the My Files app, the graph shows that I only have 2GB of app data and no documents, 4mb audio (the rest on SD), video, ect. I only have 33mb of photos. I should have no more than 2.4GB used total. What could possibly be taking up so much space?

General :: Recover Lost Files From Internal SDCard Of Android Phones

Mar 12, 2014

Today android phones are coming with an internal storage which is called the internal sdcard. Because of this the need for external sdcards is vanishing day by day. But when your phone is factory reset you lost all the data stored in it while in case of external sdcard you have an option to save your data. If you accidently lost all the data stored in your phone then don't worry I have a solution to get it back. This trick will work on phones having mass storage mode support, if you are running android 4.1 jellybean and above then root your phone to get mass storage( the tutorial is different for different phones),

If you have accidently lost all your files, photos and videos from your phone then after this do not copy new files to the phone. This also include clicking photos and capturing videos. If you copy new files to the phone then you are actually reducing your chances to get back your deleted photos and videos and other files. In short just don't download anything to your phone, do not use the internet on your phone till the time when you get back your lost files back.

This trick will only work on android phones having mass storage mode and MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) options. If your device is rooted then you can enable mass storage mode on your android phone. After enabling mass storage mode you can get back deleted photos, videos and all files from the internal storage of any android phone.

Requirements
1. Recuva for Windows 7, Windows 8
2. A USB data cable.

Now Follow The Steps Below
-Download and install recuva. While installation do not uncheck any option.
-Now connect your android phone in mass storage mode. Connect it to pc a notification will appear in the phone, tap it to enable mass storage.
-Now open My computer and you will see Removable disk.
-Open recuva and click Next, on the next step All Files will auto selected. Again click Next. Then choose In a specified location and click Browse.Choose the removable disk or MTP disk here and click Next.
-In next step put a check mark in Enable Deep Scan and click Start.
-After scan is finished you will see the list of all deleted files. Green circles is means that file can be recovered while red circle means unrecoverable file.
-Now check the box next to Filename to select all files. Click Recover on the bottom right and choose Desktop .Your deleted files will be recovered.

So, I have downloaded odin and put the phone on download mode, but when i connect the phone to the pc, there is no response whatsoever from the PC. But the phone is charging when connected. The phone can be booted into recovery mode, download mode and emergency download mode. I tried many USB cables, all the usb ports and 2 different PCs. Still no luck. I feel something is wrong with the usb port of the phone. It does look a little distorted as well. So basically, i cannot use odin and was wondering if there is anyway to fix the phone without using odin...
