View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to support Android 1.5 (Cupcake) for my application but I don't have any 1.5 device. I currently have a Motorola Droid with 2.0.1 and the T-Mobile G1 (HTC Dream) with 1.6 (Donut).
What I want to do is to downgrade my G1 to the previous official OTA release of Cupcake. I have no experience in rooting an Android device, so I would appreciate if someone could give me a step by step guide on how to accomplish this?
OK, here is a step by step on how I rooted and flashed my Sprint HTC Hero. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE! Basically to make it easier I'm just going to post the links to the sites where I got the procedures or downloaded the files, it's that simple. Here is the step by step guide I used to root my hero's. Worked flawlessly on both, just follow each step EXACTLY. The copy and paste idea on step 7 is a great idea so you don't get any commands wrong. [GUIDE] How To Root The Sprint CDMA Hero (Windows) - xda-developers After the root process is complete, anytime you want to get back intrecovery mode menu just turn your phone off and press and HOLD the home key as you power it back on.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm doing some initial research on smart phone development, and I noticed that Android and Windows Mobile both support c++ for application development. I was curious if anyone had any experience trying to manage shared files between both Android and Windows Mobile, and to what extent that code can be shared? e.g. no user interface can be shared, but web service and business logic classes can be shared, etc.

I'd like an app that lets you access a windows file share, and lets you stream music from that location. Is there a way to do this on Android?
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anybody know if and when Samsung will be releasing drivers for their PC software that are compatible with a 64 bit OS (Vista or Win7)? I currently own a Samsung Tocco which I have been unable to connect to my PC since I bought a new computer in December, and the phone has become a virtual white elephant other than for making calls and sending texts etc. I have looked at the Galaxy S which looks like a great phone. However I did a search on Google and discovered that Samsung's Kies software still has no support for any 64 bit OS, and this is now 12 months since Win7 was first released to developers. As far as I'm concerned this is Samsung's loss and HTC's gain, as I will go for the Desire unless Samsung can get their act together.

View 11 Replies View RelatedGot a lot of funky, annoying little things going on, I think it may be time to wipe my DX and start over again. No contact data to worry about, I use MS Exchange Server. Got some purchased apps including Touchdown so I definitely want to preserve those with minimal issues in reloading them without having to purchase them again. I use ADW as my launcher, it would nice to save those settings. Is there a step by step guide or instructions for doing this? I've done this 4 or 5 times over the years with PC's, can't imagine this should be that difficult with the DX.

I want to use a old android device to plug into speakers in another room and access the shared files, search/filter and queue, play songs on the phone.
I know I could run a shoutcast server and just queue up songs on the pc but I would love to be able to use some sort of app that can scan all the shares and create a database that can be easily filtered/searched on the phone.
After successfully sorting out all the troubles of connecting SGS to KIES, and been using it happily for almost a month, now I'm facing another trouble which is quite big this time. Windows Vista (32-bit) and Windows 7 (64-bit) can't recognize the phone when connected through the USB. Got a message says the USB Device/Hardware Is Not Recognized. I'm using the SGS original cable. The cable was working perfectly and now suddenly it doesn't work in data mode but still able to recharge the phone battery. Am I having a cable problem? Or worst, the USB connector (on the phone) problem? I tried to clean the USB connector on the phone but still can't connect the phone to my computers.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my Samsung Galaxy S 8GB I downloaded the Kies software and everything seemed to work O.K, I was even able to sync some of my music from my pc. I stored them on the phones internal memory and they worked fine, I haven't yet got around to buying a micro sd-card,besides why do I need to buy a card to increase the memory when the phones memory is practically empty. Now, a few days later when I connected to my pc, the Kies software launched but doesn't recognise the phone like it did before. It is not recognised in the Windows device manager list, I have uninstalled and re-installed Kies 3 times, all to no result. I noticed at the bottom of the download site it said it only supported Windows 7 32 bit, could that be the reason why it does not work properly?, if it is, why did it work O.K in the beginning?. Also when I try to use the music player it just tells me I do not have a sd-card installed, when it worked perfectly well last week.
