View 3 RepliesI was in the pool when I dropped my phone in it. It was only submerged for about 2 seconds. I was at a friends and they didn't have white rice so i had to put it in brown rice-- all day. Then today I put the battery in it and it acting the same, everything works but when I touch the screen it doesn't do anything. It has now been in a air tight sealed bag full of white rice for about 3 hours... It still doesn't work.. I have college tomorrow and I need my phone...
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I went to the beach with friends this weekend and had my phone in a ziploc bag along with other items. Well, it seems that one of my friends went into the bag to get something and had their hands completely wet. About one hour later I went to check the time on the phone and there was about two inches of water in it. I immediately removed the battery, SIM card and sd card and left it out to dry.
Got home some time later and did the rice trick and left it there for the entire weekend (just switched its position every 8 hours). Tried to turn it on this morning and it powers up, makes sounds and vibrates but the screen doesn't come on. If I touch the screen in some spots I still get vibration feedback and sounds but nothing else.
I have read this one. http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-behold-2/54424-creating-custom-roms-backups-odin.html
But here is my idea:
1. will use original 1.6 ROM from T-Mobile
2. will NOT root
3. will extract the ROM files instead of dumping
4. will remove some useless applications (especially cube) but I will add vanilla Android keyboard or Swype, I will also change the Samsung music player (very slow) with vanilla Android player
5. will add Trad Chinese, Simp Chinese, Japanese interface
6. will keep current samsung notification bar, but I will change the color from black to grey or blue in order to make Weather bug works
In short, I'll like to have a 1.6 version of BH-MAN-ODIN one, which is my favorite.
I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this happening. Whenever you zoom in to a picture, the image is never cleaned up. Its like doing a digital zoom when you are already maxed out. The image simply shows up blury as apposed to when you view the image on a computer. There you can zoom in and get details just fine. I've noticed this also when trying to set a different wallpaper that is not from the Samsung collection. The images come out with worse quality then they should. I should also note that as I was cropping the images, the Photos app would force close at times as if it couldn't handle an image that big. I think this is a bug in the photo viewer, where instead of actually zooming in, its just doing crop and re-size of the image when its resolution is that of the screen.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have samsung galaxy s3 mini.and like today my phone fell in water... first everything was ok, but then when i locked it, it will automaticly turn on... i tried everything, like buy a new battery, factory reseted it, deleted all the apps but it didnt work.... so the problem is: i always have screen timeout on 15 seconds... and when i LOCK my phone, it actually turns it back on on the lock screen. like before it would do that if i pressed any button on phone, but now it does it automatic. and its very annoying because i cant even sleep without my phone blinking all the time(i have my phone near the bed because of the alarm clock)..
View 1 Replies View Relatedso i got an HTC One X and first thing i bout for it was an invisible shield screen protector, so applied the screen protector and after letting it dry i turned my phone on and it seemed to go well but when i go on a white page i can see black streaks and on the bottom there is a big blue strip which i believe is water. The phone however works perfectly fine and i cant see the spots unless im on a white page but it is pretty bad so i was wondering what should i do to get rid of the streaks?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm really pissed off right now after seeing this. Why the hell did they put the water indicator at so damn low? Will Sprint take my phone back and swap it for another one? This phone hasn't even fell in water and works fine.
View 16 Replies View RelatedSo this morning, I put my phone on a little pile of clothes on my bathroom sink. I take my shower, get out and it's still sitting there. I tool around for ten minutes, and of course, after sitting there perfectly for almost 25 minutes, I go to brush my teeth with the water running and doesn't it pick that 1 minute window to slide off into the water. It was in the water for maybe half second. It was not submerged or have water run on it. It was back down in the water. I grabbed it, immediately rubbed the water off and removed the back cover and battery. Everything was dry. I thought I dodged a bullet. I out the battery back in and restarted. I came back a minute later and it was off. I tried to restart, nothing. I plugged it in, and the charge indicator did not come back on. I pulled the battery again, and blew into where the battery connects and noticed water coming out! Not a lot, but it was there. It either got in through the HDMI or USB, or, more likely though the back of the kickstand.
Stupid me thought I got it all out, put the battery back in and tried again. This time it made it to the Sprint 4G screen then died. I put the phone in a bag of uncooked rice. When I got to work, I pulled it out and after shaking the rice out of it (let me tell you how much rice got into to phone!!), I used compressed air in it. I didn't see any more water. I put it back with the rice and am now just scared to death. Not sure how long I should wait to put the battery back in and try it. So, this is the second evo I had as I exchanged the first one for screen separation issues. I noticed that the first phone I had water damage indicators on the outside under the cover. Now, I don't see them. If they were still where they used to be, I'd be in the clear since it never got wet back there. The battery indicator is fine. Just can't find the other ones now and I'm scared to death that when I tried to restart I may have permanently ruined my phone and I have no insurance.
I dropped my phone in a drink and I took out the battery and I let the phone parts dry overnight in a bowl of dried rice. After putting the battery in the phone, the phone works.. It's just the touch screen part doesn't fully work. Everything on the touch screen is fine except for the home button, the clr button, the menu button, and the search button don't work. Usually when you press them they kind of vibrate but they don't know and they just don't press basically. Is there anyway to replace the screen?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I did a water test on my Moto G the other day because it's supposed to be "water resistant." It survived the first day of the water test, but the next day, the touch screen isn't working.
View 5 Replies View RelatedBoth of the stickers - the one on my phone, and the one on the battery still have red X's. I have read that this is good. I dropped my phone in a toilet (recently flushed thank god) in the Staten Island Ferry Terminal (see, nothing good comes of traveling to SI!) and grabbed it out as soon as I saw it. I had a plastic case on the back of it. Took it apart as soon as I got my wits about me. And no, I wasn't using it - It flew out of my backpack when I turned around.
It will turn on but has this odd boot up screen. I don't believe rice will get the water out of the inside, and I don't have a screw driver tiny enough. If I bring it to the Verizon store will they know it had water damage from the screen alone? It looks normal almost like the DOS blue screen of death sort. Also, the little tiny green sticker in the lower right hand corner that says VOID - is that a water damage indicator too? I don't recall ever caring what it was.
long story short I dropped my hero into a glass of water while half asleep. I immediately pulled the battery out and threw the whole thing into a bag of rice for 2 days. Pulled it out today and it works. But theres noticeable water streaks on the screen when you look at it from an angle. Will these streaks ever go away? I have insurance, so I can get a new one for 100$ but not sure If I should throw the money at it since it still works perfect, minus these ugly streaks.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the screen timeout set to 1 min which works fine until I use the phone. When using the phone the screen times out (and locks) in about 5 seconds. This is a real pain when using voicemail etc and you need to interact with the keypad.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've only had it for a week, so how do I exchange it?, or what do I do?
In case you wonder how I know, the screen goes to blackness after the galaxy S screen
i have tried to install kitkat version for galaxy y duos s6102,for that i installed clockwork mod n cynogenmod n kitkat file..but after installing the screen goes blank, nothing appears except Samsung logo screen,
View 2 Replies View RelatedAt certain angles under strong lighting (basically when light is shining onto, but not reflected back off the screen) I can see a line that looks like it might be the edge of a circuit board behind my screen (when the display is off). Initially I thought it was a scratch, but on closer inspection, it's too thick a line, and much too precise and engineered looking to be one.
It's sorta this shape and runs across behind the screen, about 2/3 of the way up:
Has anyone else noticed this? Tis rather odd.
i dropped my moment in the toilet (yea gross), grabbed the phone a second after and took it apart, etc etc did the rice trick, it shows a screen that says its charging when i plug it in but it still doesnt turn on what color is the battery water indicator supposed to be? i've read that red means it got wet, mine is white, but my friend showed me his battery indicator and it was white with red spots. he said that's what it's supposed to look like on a working battery (his isn't an android phone though) ps. dont worry i had already flushed when i dropped it

My battery is low (about 13%), I'm connecting SGS through WiFi to the Interent. Any time the device is downloading something: web page, image from Picasa, etc. on the screen appears flickering tiny lines, like magnitic distortion. Once page fully loaded screen become nice and clear. If I plug power, USB, the screen and download happens normally. I tried different setting (brightness of screen, vibration on/off, stay away from electronic devices)
is anyone here running JPK froyo firmware? i accedentially took a screen shot of my contacts list and i dont know how i did it, i have no special screen shot software installed. i have tryed different button combinations but havnt been able to do it again. any ideas?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIm after some screen protection for my beautiful screen. I'm in the UK found this website with plenty of Screen Protectors. any recommendations suggestions or experience.
View 24 Replies View RelatedIs it safe to use isopropyl alcohol to clean the LCD , coz i intented to reapply my screen protector and i dont want any oil from my skin staying on the screen before i apply a new screen shield
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter updating to Froyo the email SW requires screen lock with PIN or password.I've rooted the phone, but that didn't give me more options.Does anybody know a work around?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe tried to root it and apply the lag fix via "OneClickLagFix" app (from the Market), and the phone was very fast for about a week, then slowed down SIGNIFICANTLY. Tonight, it just froze and will not boot past the Galaxy S screen. The screen will then go black and the four buttons at the bottom stay lit. We have gone into recovery and wiped the cache but no luck. Have not yet tried to wipe user data.
Transfer all data from internal storage to a separate drive, then wipe phone? If so, will I have to "flash" a stock/custom ROM to get the phone back up?
I am thinking of buying the Galaxy S as a second handset, but would like to know if any of the retailers that are selling this phone still come with the SUPER AMOLED screen?? I know there is a shortage of this type of screen so that is why I am asking.Would be put off if it doesn't come with SUPER AMOLED.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got my Galaxy S 2 days ago, loving it so far but does anyone know any app that works with adjusting the brightness for the phone beyond what default brightness setting . Even on the lowest setting it is still so bright, and on the battery use page it say that the display uses 65% of the battery.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy S (GT-I9000M) which doesn't boot past the start-up splash screen and sound effect. Eventually it will just switch to a black/blank screen and do nothing more. The back and menu buttons still light up if tapped.
The history how I got it this way, was I was using the app web-sharing lite to transfer some files through wifi without the need of a usb cable. I was transferring a large movie file when the phone locked up. I reset the phone, and upon boot every app and service was crashing. Tried this a few times, then pulled the battery etc, still the same. Then I booted into recovery mode(vol up+home+pwr), and applied wipe data/factory reset, then rebooted. This is when it started to only boot into the black screen.
This is a Canadian phone, service/bought through bell, the phone had the one click root applied to it so TI Backup could run on the device. So I think I'm out of luck with any warranty service.
I can get into the phones recovery mode and download mode, so I think there is still hope for this phone to be recovered. What I don't know is what firmware version Bell ships with these devices, and where I can download it?
Every time the screen blanks after timeout it locks the phone - this is inconvenient because every time I pick the phone up to use I have to unlock it. is there any way to stop this - I would prefer it to never lock unless I use the power/lock button.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSwiping the screen to unlock and to answer calls makes this phone a two hander- which is annoying. Sure in the car with handsfree no problem but even walking having to use both hands is irritating. Is there an alternative?
