HTC EVO 4G :: Water Indicator Is Red But Never Touch Water
Jun 15, 2010
I'm really pissed off right now after seeing this. Why the hell did they put the water indicator at so damn low? Will Sprint take my phone back and swap it for another one? This phone hasn't even fell in water and works fine.

So I just received my sprint Evo last night and the 4g radio wasn't working. I did the master reset etc., all troubleshooting possible I used to work for data support for a wireless carrier so I was familiar with what needed to be done. I called and after talking to a few people they agreed to send me a replacement, charged my card for the replacement said I would be refunded when they got the other phone back.
So today at work the evo froze. I opened it up and realized that the water indicators for the battery and the phone were showing red. I hadn't even had the phone for a day and it was nowhere near water. I called support and the tech guy I spoke with said that they would just replace the phone and probably wouldn't ask any questions and refund my money. I am just curious if I should be concerned with having to hassle with sprint when they get the phone back. I don't know if this happened in transit or on the manufacturers end. I am also not sure if that technicians word means anything.

Today was the first time I ever took the phone out of its case and removed the back cover, its been in a case 24/7 since I got it. I noticed the water damage indicator is white with a pink "checkerboard-type" pattern throughout it. Does this mean when the BB employee put the Zagg cover on with the water that he turned this pink therefore indicating water damage? If so I am going to be upset and what do I do about it? It's not like I can go back to BB now and claim they damaged it, but how can I prove I didnt expose it to water myself (I didnt, I am exceptionally careful with my phones). My phone works completely fine so no problems now but you never know in the future. Any advice?

I can attest to the fact that this works. It even brings the little red x's back. Looks like new. I just tried it on my wife's LG Env3. She washed it a few months back and both stickers (on the battery and the phone) were completely red. Did the rice/oven trick and all was well, no problems whatsoever. Well lately she's been having some battery problems ,her phone has been shutting off randomly at times as if the battery is loosing connection with the phone. No corrosion issues from the wash, I honestly think this issue is unrelated. Well, it turns out that there was a problem with the Env3's battery/connection design and the Verizon rep. was happy to send her out a replacement phone right away. He said a lot of folks had this problem with the Env3. So, then I start thinking, what about those stickers and found this online:Turn Your Cell Phone's "I Got Wet" Indicator from Red back to White

I have been having problems with my G2x's this is the 4th G2x I've had. My first one had a short, second one would randomly flash when I didnt even have the camera on and the screen would flicker like crazy, third one gave me the black screen of death were it was just all black and the phone would not work at all. The fourth one I have now is constantly shutting off on me all the time. I called T-mobile and told them that IDK what the problem is... I don't DL anything crazy and I really love the G2x when it works could it possibly be the battery because that is the only thing that is the same with the phones. So they are sending me out a new battery. Fast forward four days battery still isn't here and I am having the same problems and occasionally have to take out the battery and put it back in so the phone will power on. This morning I noticed my phone did not charge at all. So I pull off the back and what do I see under the battery and small amount of moisture and the white water damage indicator is now RED!
My phone has never been in water or near water or in the rain hasnt even rained for weeks and weeks now. The thing is if it truly got wet wouldn't the white water damage indicator on the battery be red too? Because that one is still white. I called T-mobile and asked them and they said I would have to do an insurance exchange. I told them I am not trying to exchange the phone, but when my new battery comes in and if it doesnt solve the turning off problem I don't want to have to pay for a new phone when I never got my phone wet. The lady said well maybe when it gets humid but IDK. You will have to do an insurance exchange which is 130 for a phone I did not get wet. Experience this and never got there phone wet. Are there anymore indicators on the phone that would show maybe it didnt get wet like can I ask them to open the phone so they know I am not lying. I am getting sick of dealing with T-mobile now. I always have to fight with them about my rebates, getting phone replaced, bogus charges, ect... Now water damage for non-water damage phone.

So, I've been having random problems with my phone for a few months now. Nothing debilitating, but enough to cause a hassle. I took it into sprint to see if I could get a refurb or something, and when the tech opened it up, she noticed the water damage indicator was red. Now, not only do I know for sure the phone has never faced water damage, but the sticker on the battery is still in tact. I am one of many who suffer from dust under the cover, so I know that if dust can leak in, moisture would seep in even easier. I looked on ebay to find stickers that I could just replace, but couldn't find anything with the same design/size. Regardless, the Sprint store said there was nothing they could do. Is it worth calling their CS? In all actuality, I'd love it if Sprint would just allow me to upgrade to the Evo with their discount, but i'm sure that's not likely.

After installing my invisible shield this morning, I turned the device over to replace the batter and low and behold the darn thing is a slightly deeper pink in the corner. The indicator itself isn't totally shot, but just the corner.Anything I can/should do, or am I just SOL?

So I did a water test on my Moto G the other day because it's supposed to be "water resistant." It survived the first day of the water test, but the next day, the touch screen isn't working.

I have an HTC Hero200 that my tenant threw into the pool. I recovered the phone after about an hour or so and figured it was trash. Several hours later it lit up with HTC on the phone. I figured WTH and pulled the battery and left it to dry out. I put it in a bag of rice and left it for several days. I took it apart and wiped the screen, window, and all connectors with alcohol and let it sit open for several hours. When I power it up, it says HTC and every once in a while it briefly shows a butterfly on the display for a few seconds and then reboots.
I am not an android user, but in searching the web figured out how to get it to boot using the power button and volume key. When it comes up is says touch panel fail. When I go th HBoot Mode, it says "no image or wrong image" for all the files it scrolls through. Is it possible for me to recover this phone and use it for a media player and camera?

I was in the pool when I dropped my phone in it. It was only submerged for about 2 seconds. I was at a friends and they didn't have white rice so i had to put it in brown rice-- all day. Then today I put the battery in it and it acting the same, everything works but when I touch the screen it doesn't do anything. It has now been in a air tight sealed bag full of white rice for about 3 hours... It still doesn't work.. I have college tomorrow and I need my phone...

So I got my my Touch 3G 1.2. The phone looks mostly clean and everything works fine. However, on the battery there's a tab with red/pink lines criss-cross patterns on it. Does that mean it's been exposed to water?

so i got an HTC One X and first thing i bout for it was an invisible shield screen protector, so applied the screen protector and after letting it dry i turned my phone on and it seemed to go well but when i go on a white page i can see black streaks and on the bottom there is a big blue strip which i believe is water. The phone however works perfectly fine and i cant see the spots unless im on a white page but it is pretty bad so i was wondering what should i do to get rid of the streaks?

The other day I dropped my phone in water and sat there for a while before I noticed. I dried everything out, there was a ot of water under the screen, then turned it back on. Everything seems to work fine but a couple things. It wont connect to the internet, 3G and bluetooth will not turn on. I did the trouble shooting with the verizon tech with no help. So I have a new phone on the way through my insurance but since they are on back order still it may take a while. I need to find a way to get my contacts off the incredible to an old LG dare that I now activated and am using. The incredible will connect via WifF. I went to the verizon store but they couldn't get it to transfer.

So I got caught in the rain and the phone died. I tried to turn it on the day after and the touchscreen was completely weird, it acted like I pushed all over the place. I turned it off and put it in rice for 4-5 days. When I turned it on the bottom half of the screen worked for a day, then it stopped working again. I put it in rice for about 10 days, then I used a hairdryer for about 5 hours on low heat.
Now, still only half the touchscreen works. Sometimes it wants to go helicopter view when I'm only using one finger, sometimes the notification bar is activated if I'm playing around in the lower regions and sometimes the screen stops being responsive at all. Thinking I'm the handyman I just ordered a new digitizer, but I have no real idea if that's the problem or not. Can something have corroded inside and caused this, or will a new digitizer most likely fix this?
New digitizer: 40 usd. Insurance: 160 usd. Obviously I want it to be the digitizer

I have the seido active case, and I took it off yesterday to check for dust/dirt under it.
When I opened the back cover both the little water check sticker on my phone and battery had red lines criss crossed on them. When I first got the phone I thought they were plain white. I know I haven't got the phone wet.

my s4 was accidentally rained on for only a short period of time and was working other then it telling me i had head phones plugged in but that was no big deal. then the screen started to flash green and now won't show any picture. the phone is still working i have the little blue light flashing because i have unread msgs and the main button works just not the picture and im guessing the touch part of the screen. i have photos of my new born son on there that i wish to retrieve. when i plug it into the computer it recognises the phone but in the photos folder it only has screen shot pics not my camera pic's. would these photos be saved to anywhere else on the phone or on the sim. is there any other way to retrieve these photos.

I have recovered several water damaged phones and thought maybe this could help someone else. If its a toilet or some kind of non-chlorinated water, your phone most likely can recover. First shake it out as best as you can. If it is not off turn it off. Put it in a bowl of rice for about 12 hours. (just with the back off and the battery removed) then disassemble your phone as far as you can.
Take all pieces and set in the sun (preferably outside, unless you live in a humid climate) Seriously do not try to reassemble for 2 days! If you turn it on and any part is wet, you take the risk to short something out. Reassemble it. At least it works for me!

Well my Ipod fell in water and got short circuited i guess. I want a new change from Apple and I am really looking forward to the android market. I live in Canada, and I am waiting for the Motorola Milestone to come out from Telus. I am a really big gaming fan, and the Android Market dosent have alot of games to choose from ( as I have heard). I like Rock Band for Ipod Touch, and it cant be ported to Motorola Milestone so Im pretty upset. I only have 500mbs per month with Telus . What do you guys think I should do? Get an Iphone to get App store? Or get Motorola Droid for all the specs and Android Market AND a new change (REALLY looking forward too)?

I've been hearing a lot of complaints about the EVO battery. I've played around a lot with a friends Incredible, and while it's doesn't have what I'd call "excellent battery life," it's "decent" in my opinion. With the tweaks one can do on an EVO, will the EVO last as long as an Incredible? Or does the Incredible just blow it out of the water in terms of battery life?

2 days ago, a drop or 2 of water got into my USB connector of my nexus 5, and i didnt notice and unfortunately plugged it in to charge it. Suddenly, i heard crackling sound and started smelling smoke/burning silicon/rubber.
I quickly unplugged it, but it was too late and it could no longer charge. however, later at night, i tried cleaning the formed rust off the connector with a thin piece of metal, and now its charging properly, but it is a bit sensitive (aka moving the usb cable will stop it from charging)
however, i started noticing that my battery is dying really quickly, i mean approximately 1% every 2 or 3 minutes when im just browsing the net or even just arranging my homescreen icons.
The top back of the phone (near the camera area) is also getting hotter than usual when only doing the above mentioned things, and the temp decreses at the bottom part/battery of the phone. so im guessing its the cpu thats heating up (top)
however, i was talking to a google rep about a replacement before i got the phone to charge, and she made me factory reset it before i send it to them (but ended up not sending it because theyll charge me because theyll find out its water damage), and i dont know whether the problem is because of the burnt connector (thats functional now...) or because of the reset. I reset it a second time, but the batter/cpu temp is the same.
in battery stats, Android system is in 2nd place the whole time. Screen is about 40% and andoroid system is about 15% (with a CPU total and Keep Awake of 12min)
So does the damage of the connector have to do with the battery/cpu heating up? like could it have affected them? because my battery was normal before the factory reset/usb damage.

So as the title states my Droid has some major water damage, but after about 30 min of low heat in my oven and a few more hours of drying it now powers on. Problem it is stuck on the bootloader. So my question is do you guys think I screwed up whatever part of the phone that stores the ROM, does it need more dry time (this only happened about 4 hours ago), or should I just try reinstalling my ROMS off my SD card without waiting any longer? I'm planning on giving it another cycle of heat/dry time then reflashing everything but don't really want to go through all the hassle.
