I have tried virtually every combination of wireless security protocol, b/g/n, hidden ssid enabler, manually adding WiFi network making sure to input password over the past two days. nothing works.

At my work they set the wireless with two channels. One is open to everybody with an email verification and allowed users to connect for 2 hours a day and the other is a hidden SSID that the workers can use all the time. In my iphone I have no issues. I add the network manually and it connects. But on my Sony xperia Z1 when I go to wifi and add the hidden SSID it just said not in range while the other network is in range. So far I tried the Hidden SSID enabler app with no luck. My device has kitkat 4.4.2 and is rooted.

This is something that has been addressed with other handsets, and other users, sometimes with success, and sometimes without. My friend has solved this problem with his HTC Hero. You're trying to connect to a WiFi network that is hidden. In other words, the name isn't broadcasted. In other words (again), your WiFi won't automatically find this network.
So you manually type it in Menu > Settings > Wireless Ctrl > WiFi Settings > Add WiFi network. You type in all of the details. No connection. As if it's not there. So you find that some others with their Android phones, have found success using HiddenSSIDEnabler from the Market. Removing the 'Remembered' network. Adding it freshly. Using HiddenSSID. Removing it again. Adding it again. In any order. No luck. onnecting to a non-broadcasting wireless network
Anyone have a problem connecting to a network with a hidden SSID? My wife can connect to our router fine with her Droid INc (wireless N router). But i can't unless i enable broadcasting the SSID. I found the hidden SSID enabler app, and going to try that. If that doesn't work does anyone else have any ideas? If i enable SSID broadcast i connect right away. If i disable it, i lose the connection and it is "out of range". Very annoying as i live in a condo unit with 10 other wifi networks in my range. Would like to keep my netwrok as private as possible.

Okay, to make everything clear...... from the home page I go to my Apps......click FILES, then there are the following items: ALL FILES, IMAGES, VIDEOS, MUSIC, DOCUMENTS.
When I click IMAGES....I get to my CAMERA, a generic PHOTO album, and some downloads from FACEBOOK. There are also two hidden files called .THUMBNAIL and .THUMBNAILS2 (I may have named one of them I'm not sure).
What are these files for? They contain literally thousands of previous and current pictures I had stored in my phone including deleted pics. They are lower resolution than normal too. I want to delete the ".thumbnail" folders but I don't know what will happen. They're annoying me and include a lot of deleted stuff.
There is an app called PPDigital, it stores DRM free PDF files in a folder

I don't see that folder using "ES File Explorer" or "file manager" or when plugging into my PC via USB. I tried rooting my tablet and still haven't had any luck.
On my Samsung Galaxy S4
I see the folder but only 2 of the dozen PDFs that are in it, sadly they are the 2 I care the least about, both via "my files" and a USB connection to my PC.
I am using Samsung galaxy S2 (jelly bean 4.1.2). My question is if I delete a contact from my phone that is also on what's app then while deleting that contact android shows this message:-"This contact contains information from multiple accounts. Information from read only accounts will be hidden in your contacts lists, not deleted". This means that contact is not being deleted but hidden somewhere in contacts lists. I want to know how can I recover those hidden contacts.

I enabled the usb debug mode and when I connect the phone to the computer, it says new hardware found but then it cannot find the driver. I point it to the Samsung directory but it says "Windows was unable to install your Unknown device"..............

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently got my Samsung Captivate and it works pretty well (even the GPS) however, when I try to update is (manually) it takes forever trying to connect to the server and in the end it never does (and thus I cannot connect for another twenty-four hours).So I said ok, i'll use Kies to update the phone, so I download Kies and try - however, the when I connect Kies says "The Device is not supported by Kies" and as such I cannot interact with my phone in this manner.

View 13 Replies View RelatedMy SGS (well its actually my wife's but I use it also) will not connect to WiFi networks, other than the one we have at home. If we are out, the phone will be able to see lots of WiFi networks, but it cannot connect to any of them as it says the signal is poor. Other people can be sat right next to other with other phones and have no problem connecting and they have strong signals. At home it will connect, but even then there is only one bar of signal, even though the router is in the same room. It appears that the phone just cannot get a strong enough signal to connect.

I've already tried to change the USB settings, so that it would pull Mass Storage, and it wouldn't do anything after the fact. The computer has no notification pop up when I plug it in. I'm going nuts here! And I only have two days to do this because I have a long trip ahead and I'm trying to sync music to it.

View 10 Replies View RelatedBefore I updated my Galaxy S4 I had the option to hide apps. I hided a lot of apps that I didn't used like for example: internet, story album, TripAdvisor, S Planner etc.
Now I want to see my apps. I couldn't find them. I did some research and they told me to do this: apps, menu, uninstall/disable apps. It worked for me for some apps but not for all of them. I couldn't get for example S Planner, Internet etc. back. How can I get ALL of my (hidden) apps back?
I am on Galaxo 1.6.3 , its an amazing o.s btw , currently I am facing a little problem , my phone does not auto connect to my home wifi , I have to manually go into settings >> wifi settings >> and then select my wifi from there , since it requires time and effort I end up using my 3G network which is burning an hole in my pocket.

The following message comes up on my phone regardless of which connection method I choose. "PC connection available only on idle screen. Close running applications". The only thing I have running that I know of is the "weather widget" which is part of beautiful widgets. Can I get a list of applications running on my phone somehow? Is there a way to turn the weather widget off? I am assumming that that is the problem. Anyone else out there have similar difficulties hooking up to Kiev or just your PC with the same kind of message?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to connect my Samsung Galaxy Express to my W7 PC with a usb cable. I was able to do it last week. I have changed nothing. Suddenly, it won't connect. But it does charge when connected to the PC. It also does not work in my W7 laptop, though it charges in that also. Further, my wife has an identical model phone, and it works in both computers. And just for fun, I tried two different usb cables, not that I even expected that to make a difference.
I have been through the abysmal tech support attempt - which basically told me to do everything I already tried from a google search. Settings changes, all that junk.
Would any know if its possible, and if so how, to move all my contacts from my old cell phone to my Galaxy? Could I connect them both with Bluetooth to transfer that way?
