View 5 RepliesMobile phone. I bought it year and a half ago, and have changed operating systems few times (custom roms). Now I have Pristine JB Slim custom ROM, i have installed it 1-2 months ago (cant remember exactly), and everything was okay for first half period, but then it started to crush after mobile data/wifi was turned on.
When I turn on MD/WIFi, its usually okay till 76% of battery, but then screen starts to blink for few seconds and turns off immediately after. When I turn it on again, it turns off again after 1-2 minutes, and sometimes even warns me that i have to charge it cause battery has only few % left (most of time just 1). And I have to charge it again to work normally (well, until it starts to go crazy again )
Before i start to install other roms again. So. Is it faulty battery, bad ROM or something else?
I bought an ATT S3, running android 4.1.2. I set up the APN as instructed by straight talk and everything works except data... just can't connect to the internet. On my old sprint S3, there is an option to turn data on and off in the top menu bar (when you swipe downwards from the top of the screen), but this option does not exist on this phone. There are buttons for wifi, bluetooth, gps, etc but NO DATA! At first I was thinking it was the APN settings, but now I am thinking there is something else wrong because I don't even see the data button to toggle it on or off. I can't see incorrect APN settings preventing the toggle data option from even showing on the phone.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHow can I set my Galaxy Nexus to prefer WiFi for data over the Mobile Network? I have to go to settings, turn off "enable data access over mobile network," then cycle WiFi on-off several times before the phone will connect to my home router. Router has two channels, both a WPA2 encrypted one, and a "home guest" (open) one. Both show up as disabled until I cycle the WiFi off and on several times. There must be a setting to tell the phone to prefer WiFi -- no?
View 12 Replies View RelatedAll incoming phone calls are being automatically answered. I went to Settings>Language and Input; however, I don't see the Voice CMD for Apps option. I also want to note that this is not voice activated answering - it is just auto answering. I am not using a headset and the option for auto answering with a headset is off.

This is easily done with one setting on my iPhone, but I am unsure how to get the same done easily with my Galaxy S.I really need to make sure that all data is off in order that I don't come home to a monster bill!
I have a Samsung Galaxy S 2 and I recently installed MIUI on my device. Didn't like it, so I flashed it back to the stock settings and now my Wifi isn't functioning. It will turn on and scan for networks for a few seconds, then turn off automatically.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis was working until today on wife's phone. Now it just says mobile data state disconnected. All shes done is installed a load of new apps.Is it possible that a bad app can screw the mobile data connection? Or could it be faulty phone? Tried the sim in another phone and data works fine so its not the network or sim.
View 4 Replies View Relatedwhat are the settings do you have to change in order to completely stop any data connection? I have an unlimited data plan so I don't care now that there is a lot of apps using my connection, but going overseas soon, the roaming charges are really expensive. I found some settings (like sync) that I can configure not to use data connection but I am not sure if these are all.

I've recently updated my Samsung Galaxy S4 to android 4.4.2 kitkat. Since then I've been unable to connect to the internet through mobile data. It can be activated/deactivated, but when activated I cannot connect to any websites.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIm looking for a way to leave my mobile data on, BUT only giving access to apps that i choose. For example, Mobile data should be on, but i want ONLY Whatsapp or BBM to connect to the mobile network. Is there an app that lets you do this? or settings somewhere.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy school has an open wifi network. When you first use a device on the network, it presents an authentication page so that you can get full access. I authenticated, and my Vibrant connects fine and is assigned an IP. I checked with the network admin, and my MAC address is registered correctly in their system.
But I can't get any data. Sometimes if I disconnect and reconnect I can load one or two pages, but then data stops.
Other Android users (Nexus One, Droid X) don't seem to have this problem. I'm trying to get the network pro to come and help me out with this, but it seems to be a problem with my phone. Yet my wifi connection at home works fine.
I use DU meter but its in the notification panel...i need one in the notification bar
and there was another app called network meter and lots of other... [URL] .....
but none of them have it on the notification bar....
this one fits my need... [URL] ....
but isnt refreshed in real time and slows the phone and battery life.
I'm on a limited data plan so it would be good if I could time my phone (hero) to turn 3g off when im in bed. I have locale but that only does wifi. Is there an app that will do the same for mobile data?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a sim free Hero on 3UK that I recently upgraded to 2.1. Since doing so, I have noticed that the data turns itself on every so often.I normally use the htc widget to turn on/off the mobile data as I don't use it while at work/at home. Occaisionally, I notice that it is switched on and when I try to switch it back off, it restarts itself. I've noticed this on quite a few days now over the last couple of weeks and once it starts doing it, I can't stop it.I can only think it is down to either some app that I have installed or the synch settings, but I have checked for running processes and killed anything that looks like one of my apps.I don't really know what else to do to stop it. Has anyone got any ideas?
View 10 Replies View RelatedFrom what I can tell, if you turn on WiFi the phone never sleeps even in standby mode. Is this a known issue or has anyone else noticed this. I noticed this using Spare Parts and turning off and on things until I saw it was wifi that keeps it awake.

One thing I am not seeing that I really want to do is:When I open the browser (turn wifi on).(I know how to do this)If wifi is not available ask if I want to turn on mobile data (This is what I can't figure out)If anyone has some suggestions I would love to hear them. Or if someone knows whether or not this is even possible please let me know.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI run into rather strange problem. My phone, china Android 2.3.4, is working quite weel instead of this:
If I use WIFI, then turn it off and try to use mobile data connection, it is not possible.
Icon showing that mobile connection should be active is on, but no data comming through.
I tried switchiing to airplane mode, changing access point names and so on, but nothing worked. Only solution was to restart the phone, after that all works normally - until connecting to wifi.
After rooting my phone I tried to figure out more with Teminal emulator. It seems that after releasing wifi connection and turning interface down, mobile interface comes up with same IP as before - it should ask network for new one. But, more important, route table is empty (or containing one entery and no default gateway at all) I tried bringing mobile interface up and down several times, tried forcing it to use dhcp (timeout), without success.
Is there a way to "reset" whole networking system from shell? Something like partial restart, which would be probably quicker than full restart.
The facebook messenger app for my Samsung Galaxy Fame only receives notifications of messages when connected to a mobile data network, not when connected to wifi. If I swap to solely using mobile data after a conversation, I receive a string of notifications of all the messages I've just been sent in the conversation which is very frustrating.
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen both wifi and mobile data are available, android (from version 4 and onwards) is smart enough to always* use the wifi, right?
*: by always i mean with some exceptions like sending an mms.
Problem: When pressing the power button to turn phone on, there is no samsung boot logo. the only thing that shows up is a black screen, [the backlight] it will stay that way until the battery dies.
i know it's not a problem with the display because i can get to the recovery screen by pressing the three buttons. i tried numerous wipes and factory resets, even tried to reboot from there. but it still wont boot up, it only ends up with that black screen. Also the green battery shows which further indicates that it's not a display problem.

That's basically all i know about this phone, i know it's a clone because on the hardware differences under the hood compared to the real S4. [it's probably a legend or a superking since it's from korea i think] im not sure which operating system it runs, from the looks of it i dont think it has one.
Some things i've tried: i downloaded android SDK, MTK droid tools, SP FLash tools, for some reason, i keep getting error 8200 in sp flash tools and mtk droid tools doesn't detect my phone. I tried flash updating firmware with adb sideload, it always ends up with an error ''aborted''. i can't enable usb debugging since the phone wont turn on.
I recently purchased a USED S4 Active, and I am having an unusual problem with it.
I will leave my house in the morning. ALl during my drive to work, my data does't work. It's on, it just doesn't have "4g" at the top, and I can't use the internet, etc. Toggling the data does not work, neither does resetting the phone. About the time I get to work (after about a 15 minute drive), my data pops back on.
Today, at work, my phone connected to a stray wifi connection (One that I have used before, so my phone remembered it) just for a minute or two. Once it disconnected from the wi-fi, my mobile data was gone. Just like when I leave my house: It was gone for about 15 minutes, just like before, and then just popped back on like everything was OK.
I don't THINK this is an issue with my particular phone, but if it is I need to know so I can return it. I've searched high and low, but no one else seems to have had this problem. So I figured I would turn to the best!
Model: Samsung Galaxy S4 Active
Android version: 4.2.2
AT&T phone, but unlocked and working under the T-Mobile network.
Current version of Android (4.2.2).
Want to: run apps that demand to have WiFi on+connected, even when I'm on 3G/4G. (Specifically, I'd be happy if I could get Xfinity TV Player to run on my rooted stock Nexus 4 over HSPA, but again, hoping this thread will attract info about tricking apps in the general case.)
Tried:
A) qaWifiOnlyMode.txt,
B) running WiFi Tether For Root Users and quickly turning wifi on after launching. Neither worked.
I am using ICS Evervolv a5 on my N1. The mobile data connection works only if I don't connect to a WiFi network. If I do, the only way I have found to make it work again is to reboot the phone.
This means that while I am at home, everything works through WiFi, however, if I leave home, I have to reboot my phone once I am sure the phone is far enough from my WiFi access point to be able to connect. Then, it starts working with the cellular data plan
The only thing I can relate to this is that I have the "application protection" app installed, protecting the settings menu do with a code so my kids don't mess up with that. However, is still hard to believe that's the culprit.
i just picked up a unlocked a moto cliq.. my concern is that i have never had a data plan on my account (at&t). this phone seems to have alot of different apps and widgets updating themselfs continuosly.. i have no problem with while im at home beacuse of my wifi that i can connect to.. but when im not on a wifi connection it seems to still be updating.. which i dont want until i upgrade my plan to unlimited data.. How do i turn off these features or turn off data/ internet acess all together when im not on a wifi connection?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI do know that downloading on Wi-Fi is faster than using data (or so I've read). My question is if I start a download using data connection then turn Wi-Fi on will the download see the Wi-Fi and jump on that to speed up our do I have to start on Wi-Fi for it to use Wi-Fi?
