Once a day my phone freezes to the point that the bottom buttons are non-responsive. The only fix is to reboot.Any ideas? There's no pattern - it can happen as I'm actively using the phone or as I start to use it after it's been idle for an hour.

My galaxy s2's screen has occasionally stopped responding, the os was still running and everything so it wasnt frozen, my touch screen just simply stopped working. Only way to fix it was to hit the back of the phone and do a battery reset. This issue started poping up more and more, and now it won't respond.
Model: GT-I9100M
No custom roms/kernels have ever been installed, has always run off the stock. Never been dropped or had water on it (I took very good care of it).
The nav bar at the bottom (back/search/options/menue) and hardware buttons all work. Everything above the screen no longer works.
What iv done: I've reset the phone, did a bettery pull for the night, fully charged it, looked at the board and checked all the connections (all good). Would flashing a custom rom/kernel be something to try next? Why would the bottom nav bar work but no the rest of the screen? Could it be locked somehow? If it is.. how would I unlock it?
Anyone know any way to make the touch buttons on the bottom less sensitive? Gees, I can't touch the phone without opening the Quick Search. It's not just the button, it's the entire right bottom corner of the phone which activates this. Any utility, tape, hack or anything else to disable this button?

Everything else seems to be working okay. Tried powering off/up, also tried battery pull, still the same.
I'm close to opting for "restore factory settings", but I've spent some time customizing, and that's really a last resort.
recently the bottom buttons (ie. menu, back, etc) arent working as well as the side ones.I can only use the screen.Upon turning on the phone the buttons will work for a maximum 2 minutes and then I have to rely on the screen.I tried repairing and reinstalling everything but it didnt work.Ive also read that it could be from holding the camera button down but that is not the case.

View 2 Replies View RelatedComing from the iphone, those bottom buttons on the Vibrant are so difficult.First, it often takes some hunting to get them to respond, especially the far left one, which take several attempts quite often.Because they're not tactical in the dark, it's highly problematic that they LEDs time-out after a measly 3 seconds! What's the point of the LEDs if they're going to shine for that short of time?I'd have to say this is the most frustrating part of this phone. Hopefully, these woes can be cured with a software update?

They dont stay lit and it drives me nuts trying to guess which one I am hitting! By the way, this is my ONLY complaint about this device. I am madly in love with it.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi saw a video back when i was debating between evo and epic, and it showed me how to change those bottom 4 buttons (PHONE CONTACTS MESSAGING APPLICATIONS). i figure phone and contacts kinda go hand in hand so its a waste, and i use HANDCENT. now that i have the phone i cant figure out how to do it to save my life. anyone have any ideas?
The same feature also allowed you to swap around the applications view, and delete unused home pages. i dont need 7 pages id be fine with 4 or 5 (multicon FTW)
I am not able to find out the perfect layout(viewgroup) to place four buttons as shown in the attached image. Basically, i want to place four buttons near the top/left/bottom/right edge of the screen. AbsoluteLayout helped, but it is deprecated (It is also better to avoid AbsoluteLayout as it is not very flexible for orientation changes)

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a samsung galaxy proclaim. All i want is an app that can make the 4 soft touch buttons on the bottom of the phone be light up whenever the screen is lit up. The phone is for my dad, who cant see the best, and he can never see the buttons when they are not lit. I am very tech inclined and have rooted my thunderbolt and modded the hell out of it and flashed roms all the time last year. I really can not find anything out there app wise, and there is not other option other than holding your finger over the light sensor on the front of the phone.
The phone is not rooted, but i could root it if that is necessary. would rather not as i see it presenting new possibilities for problems for a VERY beginner user just learning what texting means.
I saw on one review you could change the universal icons on. Thaw bottom of each page.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRandomly, when actively doing stuff on the phone, I go to white lines running from the top of the phone to the bottom when the screen was in portrait position. There were two of them on the right side, each line being a couple pixels in width, separated by a few pixels of normal screen. It lasted for a few seconds, and then the screen reset itself. It's only happened once or twice, but it should happen at all with such an expensive phone and nice screen.

All the buttons seem to work on the screen except the locked ones on the bottom (phone, contacts, messaging, applications). I can use ALL other buttons except these will not work.

The keyboard backlight only turns on when the slider is open. View 4 Replies View RelatedI like many of you have been waiting for months to get my hands on the epic. However when I bought one, the battery life was insanely unusable even after 4-5 days. So I finally returned it for a new on. Well find out over the next few days how the battery performs. But the new one has capacitive buttons that barely respond to touch. Particularly the home key and menu key. I've read of a bunch of people having similar problems. Are we just a few unlucky people who happen to be on the forums, or is Samsung having serious Quality control issues here?

When I try to hit the power button I usually hit the volume button as well because of the positioning so my ringer goes from vibrate to on or changes volume. The power button really should have been up top.

View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery now and then when I get a text and try to reply, none of the letter buttons will work. From what I've tried, the only way to fix it is to exit all the way out of the messaging application and go back in. The buttons will animate like they are being pushed, vibrate, and even show swype trails and word suggestions, but none of my words will show up on the screen.
I haven't figured out the specific instances when this happens. It seems a little random but I think it may only happen when I lock the screen without leaving the messaging application first, I get a text, and try to reply immediately from the app. But I'm really not sure - it might just be random.

I've had my phone for a while now but a few days ago some of the physical buttons stopped working. I'm not sure why but the home, call pick up, and camera buttons now no longer function. I'd have assumed this was a physical fault immediately, however when the screen is darkened (power save?) if I press any of the "failed" buttons then it will light up again! I'd be interested in knowing whether there are any diagnostic tools available for this also. Failing anything else I'll be phoning O2 to get phone replaced! I've updated to II4 via the NPS update and they are still broken.

It's both a relief and pain to have figured this out. For the longest time, I thought the battery was horrid because when I would push the unlock button, the phone would not recognize it so the screen remains black making me think it off, out of battery. But then I noticed recently that the phone comes on when I hit the home button.
This is such a let down, you are never happy when your purchase breaks. Fortunitely I have the replacement insurance if it need be used. I was wondering if this is a known problem and can be fixed by me or if the phone need to be sent in for a replacement.

I have the touchscreen lock so can't unlock it, otherwise maybe I could use the keyboard or the optical joystick to use the phone. Is there any way to fix this? I might attempt a hard reset, but saw on another forum, that it's unfixable. I bought it at Best Buy and they aren't even open tomorrow, would another Best Buy or Sprint store exchange it if I can't fix it?
