Samsung Fascinate :: GPS Will Work On Phone Out Of Box - Froyo And Flash Will Come Pre-installed
Aug 26, 2010Now that we know this phone is getting an early/mid September release.
I have a few questions:
Do you think GPS will work on the phone out of the box?
Do you think Froyo and Flash will come pre-installed?
I hear the phone only has 2GB of onboard memory, but is there a microSD card that is pre-installed? If so, how much space is on it?

Dec 1, 2010My wife and I just got a pair of Fascinates. While mine is working fine, her's is acting up. When taking a picture using the flash, the flash turns blue just as the camera snaps the shot. Does anyone know what causes this?

Sep 10, 2010I just rooted my phone. I'm not new to rooting either. And when I was pulling up a file, I got this screen. Another interesting thing, is that we have a file called FlashSVGPlayer.apk embedded into the phone, and FlashPlugin.apk
Update:
FlashPlugin.apk is Pineone Flashlite Plugin.
but FlashSVGPlayer.apk is Adobe Flash Player.

Oct 5, 2010Samsung Fascinate USB cable issue and Adobe flash player.I've got Verizon Samsung Fascinate a few days ago. I really like to phone but there are some things I can't figure out and their tech service wasn't able to answer my questions.First of all I couldn't figure out how to download my pictures from phone to my PC by using USB cable connection. I totally don't understand how USB works with it at all.Second thing, I was trying to watch some of my TV shows but I wasn't able to do so because requests to have adobe flash player. But couldn't manage to download. Is there another program I can use?If anyone has answers for me that would be great.

All the buttons seem to work on the screen except the locked ones on the bottom (phone, contacts, messaging, applications). I can use ALL other buttons except these will not work.

Sep 27, 2010I returned my first Fascinate due to it kept complaining the memory card was not plugged in. Would have to pop off the back of the phone off and remove then reinsert it to get it online again to use camera. Had to pay for an advanced replacement tell they get the old one back. Ugh. Well the replacement I just got does not do this but the compass does not work on it. I downloaded a compass app and it keeps saying abnormal readings and I need to recalibrate but no avail. My previous Fascinate seemed to have a working compass. Did I get a second defective phone?

Nov 22, 2010I can't get GPS navi to work for the life of me. Before, it used to flash that GPS symbol on the top of the screen until it connected to GPS, and then it remained solid.
Last night, I tried using the navi and finally gave up after 30 mins of no connection. The GPS icon didn't even appear on the top bar. I tried all sorts of combinations between VZW / Google / Phone GPS, and GPS was of course "on". Any ideas on what is going wrong?

Oct 28, 2010Does Bing affect Google apps such as Google Voice and Voice Search? How do Google Maps work when it is not de-Binged? I don't know if I'll root, but I do really want to use those apps and for the moment, would just keep Bing at first. I've read posts on how to de-Bing and am wondering if it truly works or if it just hides Bing. If I get a SF, I want to be sure I can access all the Google apps easily with 3 or less clicks. This will be my first Android, so all this stuff is new to me. Bing is what really seems to be dragging the SF down in my book as I think Android should be all about Google. I'm still looking for the deal-breaker between the SF and Dinc. I've researched it to death.

This has been an issue over the last 10 days or so. Anyone else have this problem? I brought it to Verizon tech and they couldn't figure it out. Google voice search works fine. Sep 15, 2010i got a fascinate like 2 days ago and i set a patter lock to it, i know this very well, its very simple but i was procratinating from my homework earlier and kept entering different patters because i hate homework and i have add. Anyways i did this to the point where it required a google id login. So i sigh and attempt to login, does not work, i try 10 more times before i find out that this is an ongoing android problem. I do a hard reset, still doesnt work. Now 5 hours later im pissed beyond belief wondering why google put so much effort into a dumb pattern lock and why it still does not work after a full restore.

Oct 31, 2010Every now and then when I get a text and try to reply, none of the letter buttons will work. From what I've tried, the only way to fix it is to exit all the way out of the messaging application and go back in. The buttons will animate like they are being pushed, vibrate, and even show swype trails and word suggestions, but none of my words will show up on the screen.
I haven't figured out the specific instances when this happens. It seems a little random but I think it may only happen when I lock the screen without leaving the messaging application first, I get a text, and try to reply immediately from the app. But I'm really not sure - it might just be random.

Nov 27, 2010This also happened on my Droid, so I'm not sure what the deal is. When I'm in a call sometimes my phone will black in and out, if I tilt the phone it will kick on for a half second and then kick off. The phone is still working and I'm still in the call, but I'm unable to do anything on the phone. Alternatively, if the phone does stay on and I try to touch a keypad the screen goes black again. Also, sometimes I won't be able to touch the number pad. The only way to get the keypad to work is if I drag the top down, click the little phone icon, and then the keypad again and it will work. It's driving me CRAZY.
Lastly, I have my phone with the pattern unlock because I like to know only I can open it. However, I don't want the timeout delay to long and drain my battery, but if I need to touch anything my phone needs to be unlocked during calls. Is there an app that keeps your phone on JUST during phone calls?

Oct 12, 2010Today, I made a call and the party on the other end was not answering. So, I tapped the red "end call" and nothing happened. There was not feedback from the phone at all. Other end kept ringing. No response anywhere on the phone. Soft keys would not respond--Nothing. Had to press power key and power off, then reboot.

Oct 29, 2010I have had two samsung fascinate for about 2 months now. Yesterday my wife complained that after calling someone she wanted to hangup without leaving a VM and the phone was just frozen. This is not the black screen. This is she could see all the buttons etc and the hangup button was just not doing anything.She said she powered off and on to fix it.Well, this morning the same issue happened to my phone as well !! I wanted to hangup after a call and the phone was just frozen. I could not hangup. I kept hitting the red hangup button and nothing happened. Not to mention the other person got a long and blank VM.
