Android : Possible To Use Native C/C++ Libraries?

Is it possible to use a native C/C++ library? If so, are there any restrictions for those libraries to be used?

Android :: Access In Native Libraries?

Apr 12, 2010

I am completely new to the NDK.

I have done a couple of the tutorials including the hello from jni one and another one that calculates the sum of two numbers.

They involved using cygwin and the ndk to create the library so file and I have a bit of a grasp on how to insert my own libraries into the libraries layer of Android.

I have now been asked to access the native libraries on Android and see what I can use them for.

My question is can I do this?

The STABLE-APIS.txt document is a bit vague and mentions the following as Stable C++ API's in Android 1.5

cstddef

new

utility

stl_pair.h

Does that mean I can access them?

If so then how do I go about it?

Android :: How To Record Audio From Mic In Raw Pcm Format Into A Buffer Using Native Libraries Directly

Oct 9, 2009

My application cannot handle the JNIE overhead, as I need to make 2 JNIE calls to the native C/C++ code for every 20msec. So I am trying to use the native media libraries and the realted C/C++ files provided by Android in the folder "//external/srec/audio/test" of the donut build. Ex. AudioHardwareRecord, AudioInRecord etc.. I am implementing all the calls in the native layer.

I am using the sampling rate as 8000 and want to read 160 samples (320 bytes) at a time.

I used the following values to create the AudioRecord..

CODE:..........

It says "success" after creating this interface but I am getting the error "Bad Value" if I am doing the InitCheck.

And it is crashing once I start reading the samples or if I try to retrieve the configured sampling rate.

Has anybody tried to access this native code?

Samsung Epic 4G :: Installing MP3's From PC

Oct 11, 2010

Well anyway I don't know why this is so hard but it might just be my pc computer...

1. First I couldn't get my EPIC to show Mass Storage after hooking it up to my PC using some aftermarket USB cable. After viewing online for answers, I saw that some people corrected this by using the the USB cord it came with and i was like "WHAT CABLE?" Yeah I didn't know the electrical cord that connects to the wall is a secret USB cable. Okay problem solved....

2. Well I connected using the Samsung cable and all of a sudden I get a message saying "USB Device Not recognized, One of the USB Devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it." Again after reading online for answers, I learned to just detach the cable and re do it. Well after getting annoyed I detached like 50 straight times and finally it took it. Crazy huh? I was trying to redo this again and the same problem occurred. Took me lots of reconnects and a few times I took it but my computer didn't detect it. Is there a problem with my cord or another simple solution?

3. So I got another snag which might be a PC problem is I finally see the SD card in My Computer but I didn't see anything in it. Didn't think nothing of it and was looking forward to dragging and dropping my songs into my EPIC and than I got a message saying "Cannot copy xxx: Cannot find specific file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name" Is this my PC or is my EPIC just all bad?

So many problems just to transfer a few songs to my EPIC.

Android :: Loading Native Libraries - System Load - Dlopen - Nexus One After FRG83 System Update

Nov 17, 2010

I am an Android app developer, and I have purchased a Nexus One device which I use to continuously test my developed Android applications.

Background: ----------------- One of the applications I developed uses a native shared library (e.g. myNativeLib.so). Only my application loads & uses this native library. I had developed this app before Android NDK came out. I pack my native library into my apk's 'assets' folder, and during my application start- up, I extract this native library from my package's assets folder to my app private directory (i.e. <assets> -> /data/data/<myappprocess>/ myNativeLib.so). Then I use System.load() API in my application to dynamically load this native library.

Problem: ------------ This application was developed during Android 1.5 (i.e. cupcake) days {I didn't have the Nexus One then}. The above procedure has been working without any problems right from Android 1.5 to Android 2.2 (i.e. Froyo). I have also tested the same on my Nexus One for Android 2.1 (i.e. Eclair) and Android 2.2.

The problem began the moment I recently upgraded my Nexus One to Android 2.2.1 via the FRG83 system update. Now, whenever I try to load my native library, I get the following error:

D/dalvikvm( 3653): Trying to load lib /data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so <some address> I/dalvikvm( 3653): Unable to dlopen(/data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so): Cannot load library: link_image[1995]: failed to link <mynativelib>.so

What I have Tried: -------------------------- 1. I tried my application using Android 2.2 SDK (emulator)...it works, no issues. 2. I checked out the latest froyo & android2.2.1 source code from Android open-source, built & tested my application + native lib using the latest froyo source...it built & ran, no issues. This should've taken care of any changes in the native code dependencies between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 3. I even checked Android 2.2.1 source code for dalvik (java System & Runtime classes) + bionic (linker & dlopen sources) between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 (using source checked out from Android open-source), but couldn't find anything consequential 4. I am unable to return my Nexus One to Android 2.2.

Samsung Epic 4G :: Soundfiles Quit After Installing Mixzing Update / Troubleshooting Without Reverting Last Backup

Oct 27, 2010

Uneasily, I allowed the latest Mixzing update to install. I just had a feeling I shouldn't but was responding to a text when I received the prompt. Immediately afterward, I found that sound files (mp3s, etc.) would suddenly quit after playing for thirty or forty seconds. I hastily uninstalled Mixzing, only to find that every music player I try now produces the same result. Has anyone else experienced this? How would you go about troubleshooting without reverting to your last backup, if possible?

Android :: Windows 2K - Running Emulator Or Installing Native Driver

Jan 18, 2010

I know that Google elected Windows XP (eXtra Problems) to be the minimum operating system, but was anyone here able to run it on win2k? Being able to run the emulator OR install the native driver (to debug in the device) would be enough. I really would not like to have to buy a new computer just because of android. Since I already work with many other platforms without problems.

Samsung EPIC 4G :: Multiple Features Removed On Epic 4G?

Aug 19, 2010

UPDATE: My goal is to get as many future Epic 4G buyers to respond to this thread as possible to show Samsung how excited we are for the Epic but also how upset we are about the lack of key features that are found in the family of Galaxy S devices but not on the Epic 4G.The only way Samsung will consider adding these into a future update (Hopefully the upcoming 2.2 update) is if they see how many people really do want them.So please help the cause and lets try to show Samsung how much these missing features really mean to the Epic 4G buyers! I'm sure they are reading these forums as much as we are According to multiple sources the Epic 4G appears to be missing multiple features that are found on both the Samsung Vibrant and Samsung Captivate So far here are the features that I have been hearing are entirely missing from the Epic 4g.Please watch this MobileBurn.com unboxing and video review which discusses all of the missing features that I am discussing here. There are 2 parts and it goes very in-depth so get comfy!
