Samsung Fascinate :: Export Installed Apps List
Sep 22, 2010I am getting a warranty replacement for my Fascinate today. Anyway, my contacts and images are easily backed up and synced with gmail. Is there an easy way to export a list of all the free Apps I have installed so I can print them out? Too lazy to write them all down but will if I have too. ;<) Also, not quite as important to me but is there an easy to export all the text messages and import them into the replacement phone?

Jul 21, 2010I attempted to import my contacts from my old HTC Touch Pro phone by using an application to export them to a .csv file, then importing them into a gmail account. That part all worked fine. However, when I linked the gmail account and synced up the contact information, there are a couple of problems. First and most important, its not bringing over all of the information. It brought over the contact name, but when you tap on the name, it only shows a gmail link and none of the other information. Second, gmail is using only the first name for the full contact. example: the contact it titled 'George' instead of the person's full name like "Butler, George'. How can I fix these two issues?

Nov 16, 2010New to the Captivate, and on my second phone (1st one would turn off, so I had it replaced). I downloaded a few apps on my first phone and everything showed up with an icon just like magic. Now I am trying to download a few free games for my kids to play and they will not download. Do I need to change a setting on my phone?

I didn't back them up either (I know I'm an idiot) well now I need somethings back, like voice recorder. But I can't seem to figure out how to do that. I can format the phone clear all the stuff but nothing brings it back. How do I restore this thing to factory defaults with everything installed????? Jul 29, 2010I am using a samsung capitvate on ATT. Android 2.1 I installed google voice and created a google voice account. I am able to send and rec sms through google voice and my new GV # but I can only send sms from my att number. I cannot receive any sms from my att number and people who are sending them do not get any kind of message they just get lost in the network somewhere. People in general and my boss are getting mad because they think I am just ignoring them.

Jul 21, 2010When I select a picture from the "My Pictures" menu, I then hit the right soft key to get into the "Options" menu and I scroll down to and select the fourth option, "Zoom/Rotate". When I am finally done zooming/ rotating the picture, it seems as though I'm left with no option to save it. I've pressed every button that I could think of and nothing seems to work. I can't imagine that this option is not available.

Jul 25, 2010So, back in the day, when the first iPod Video came out, I thought it was about high time for me to join the whole "iRevolution" bandwagon. I mean, how cool would it be that I could FINALLY have a slick little device that I could put in my pocket and take with me everywhere which played ALL of my media? When it all first came out, such an idea was incredible, and I wanted to be a part of that. This was to be my first (and last) Apple device, and as such, I had never futzed around with iTunes ever before, because my media library was already well developed and existed even before the iPod's inception.
I have always been an avid Winamp user. It is, and always has been, a powerful, open-ended, lightweight and, for me, a familiar and simple-to-use program. As such, my entire media library consists of many many .m3u playlists and file formats ranging from everything from your typical mp3's, to wma's, too .ogg's and .flac's, all of which the mighty Android has no problems playing back whatsoever (which, in the case of the .flac and .ogg's was quite a pleasant surprise for me!). So, when I plugged in my iPod for the first time, I thought it would be just as easy as taking my root media folder and simply dragging and dropping the whole thing onto the device. Why shouldn't it be that simple? After all, this is Apple, the monarch of simplicity! So, I anxiously wait several hours while all my stuff copies over to the iPod, and finally when it finishes, I check it out, only to discover that NONE of my media is accessible on my iPod. Angry, and frustrated, I do some research which led me to discover that there was in fact nothing wrong with my iPod at all. The problem was that I absolutely needed to use iTunes to put all my media onto the device, AND I had to convert EVERYTHING over to the iTunes format. Really? Seriously!? When I discovered that iTunes estimated it would have taken at LEAST two weeks to perform a complete conversion of everything, assuming it went flawlessly, and without any interruptions or any other unforeseen issues, I decided F### THAT $###!!! I want my $300 back! And from that day forward, as if to avoid the plague, I have steered clear of owning ANYTHING with a lower case "i" in the front of it. Anyway, enough of a rant...
Long story short:
Is there some way to get .m3u playlists to work on the Captivate? I used to have a Nokia E71, and on that phone .m3u playlist importation/creation/recognition was breeze; just copy your files to your sdcard, load them up in Winamp, save a playlist file on the sdcard. 1, 2, 3, done! Now however, I find myself futzing around with tag editors, which although they work (sorta kinda), they're awkward and complicated compared to just creating a play list in Winamp, and clicking "Save Playlist."
There has to be some easier way....I'm using Winamp.

I am wondering if there is a way to export my settings (like saving with Clockwork) but having all of my personal information wiped from the build. Is this possible? How do people create the images we typically download? Would love to be able to load up all the free apps I use and have them be pre-installed if I flash a friends phone.

I was using simple free phone earlier which doesn't require data plan but after two weeks I bought samsung captivate, AT&T added $25 data plan. I got my phone from AT&T store where my friend works so he took my data plan out of the plan for now but he said they will find out and add into your plan again. Also, He said that they recognize by your IMEI number. My question is: Is there anyway I can change my IMEI number? I was thinking to use my simple free Nokia phone's IMEI number and use it for Samsung Captivate so AT&T thinks that I am using Nokia phone.
