Currently my phone rings twice and then go straight to voicemail. How do i change the settings so the phone rings more times before going to voicemail?

Does anyone know how to change the amount of times their phone rings before the caller is sent to voicemail? When I call my phone from another phone it only rings four to five times before it goes to voicemail. However, when I call my wife's eris it rings six to seven times before sending to voicemail.My phone is on v3 leak and my wifes is a stock 1.5.This is really frustrating because it already takes at least two rings from the other end before my phone even acknowledges someone is calling...and yes i've changed my slot cycle down to zero...so by the time it starts ringing the ringtone only lasts about five to ten secs.not enough time at all to even try to answer.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo its been about a month and a half that I've had my captivate. I've had a few problems with the phone and have searched them, I have found most have the same problems but no one gives any answers to what you can do to fix it.
Problems:
.phone restarts at random times until the battery is taken out and put back in
.text messages delete at random times
.phone does not sync with Facebook
.it does not retrieve e-mails
.gets a bit laggy at times for a 1gHz processor
.seems like the side buttons seems a smashed in and do not "click" properly
Does anyone have any answers to these problems?
Also I wanted to do a factory restore so how can I save my files/ contacts/ etc before I do this to see if it fixes any of the problems.
How to backup my phone would be great..
The one thing i miss most about my iPhone is the caller ID/ visual voicemail capability that came standard. is there anything offered in the market that is comparable? I miss being able to look at the call log and see where calls originated.

Each time I do a factory reset, it still has the tether app installed and other things as well.How do I take it back to the original, or at least somewhat updated original firmware?Please provide a specific link. I went to the samsung firmwares website and had no idea how to navigate that stupid thing.

For example, I don't want my phone beeping at me when I get an e-mail at 3 a.m. On my BB I could set those alerts to be active say from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. So far, I haven't been able to find out how to do that on the Fascinate.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have AT&T with the Samsung Captivate.I came from an original iPhone The iPhone was having lots of issues such as getting a new voice mail notification but no missed call, or I would get a missed call and they said they left a voice mail, but I would get no voice mail notification.Texts were hit or miss and my wifi didn't work...and I guess that isn't really relevant to this conversation.Anyway, since AT&T finally put a decent android phone on the market, I got the captivate on Monday. Right out of the box it said I had 1 new voice mail. I check my voice mail and it says I have no voice mails. 2 days later it still says I have a voice mail, but when I check i don't. This is very frustrating. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can fix this problem? One thing I was thinking is that on the iPhone system I have a voice mail that I never checked and the captivate is reporting on that, but I'm not sure if that's really how it works.

One thing that bugs me though are the soft keys. The way it is set up mainly. Why is the home key between the back and the menu button? and why do i need a search button. I understand the droid is google based, but really? why does it need a button dedicated to it. rooted phone can you change the function of the softkeys so i could have the search key do something different when pressed.

Now when I try and check emails from my captivate it says invalid user name or password. When I try to go to setting it doesn't giver me the option to change password for the phone. I read a few places that you can't use voice command/control when the phone is on bluetooth. Has there been any change to this since it was first released?
My car stereo is equipped to use a phone via bluetooth, with a microphone mounted by the rear view mirror. I live for this at times, but voice dialing would be 10x more helpful than scrolling through contacts on the stereo screen.
Also, I'd love to know if you can legitimately get visual voicemail without paying a monthly fee? At least for now, I want to keep the phone legit and not mess with warranty, etc.
I'm obviously asking for a brand new phone - as of right now, not "well, when it was released x, y, z" as I think sometimes things change quickly with phones.
Can anyone with a Vibrant change their voicemail number in settings->call settings->voicemail->voicemail? I'd like to change it so when I speed dial 1 it goes to google voice. I called TM and they said I should be able to change that setting. I installed a new SIM, and I removed TM's visual voice mail. Out of ideas here. I'd at least like to know if it's like this on all Vibrants or just some Vibrants.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOkay so i created a folder on my sd card called ringers, worked great for allowing me to use my mp3 files that i croped for my ringtones, however when the phone rings it doesnt ring at the desired volume from the begining, it vibrates only for 1 pulse then the volume slowly comes in from min to the desired level it is as if it is set to escalating. I have searched through all the settings but if there is a way to turn this off i have missed it. I know the mp3 file doesnt escalate because i use the same file on my moment and it rings at full volume from the beginning.

I was using simple free phone earlier which doesn't require data plan but after two weeks I bought samsung captivate, AT&T added $25 data plan. I got my phone from AT&T store where my friend works so he took my data plan out of the plan for now but he said they will find out and add into your plan again. Also, He said that they recognize by your IMEI number. My question is: Is there anyway I can change my IMEI number? I was thinking to use my simple free Nokia phone's IMEI number and use it for Samsung Captivate so AT&T thinks that I am using Nokia phone.
