For some reason, my WIFI is no longer auto-connecting to networks. I have to go into WIFI settings and manually connect to a network. This happens if, for example, I'm on WIFI at work and then come home, it does not auto-connect to my wireless network without manually connecting it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAt my college we have this annoying web based login and my android phone doesn't like it. It connects easily but when I go to either browser or opera mobile it doesn't load the login page the browser still thinks it has no connection. Is there anyway to approach this in a better way or bypass the login or at least save it to automatically do it each time.I need a wifi connection! every building has it. annoying this is once you move to a different building the settings are changed(probably because of the routers) and I have to redo it. of course it never works
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my wifi no longer connects to my home network automatically. I need to go in to the wireless settings then in to the wifi settings menu itself, where I'll see my network "Not in range-remembered" for a second and then it'll connect itself. It wasn't like this a few days ago, and I don't think this happens at the 2 other wireless networks I frequent, I'll try and remember to check tomorrow when I drop off my son at the in-laws.
I deleted the network and added it back in, still no auto connect. I rebooted the phone and it connected once, then after I turned off wifi and turned it back on, it went back to needing a manual connect, which it really isn't even that. It just doesnt want to connect unless I go in to the wifi settings.
When I turn on wifi it won't connect to my remembered network unless I go into wifi setting. Anyone else having this problem? Also when I get a call the bluetooth button on the bottom left won't turn bluetooth on. I guess it just tells you if its connected but it really should turn it on and connect.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to stop the Desire/android from automatically connecting to specific wifi networks. I have a wifi network at home which I want the phone to always connect to when in range. I also have a wifi network at work, that I only want to connect to from time to time to update the calendar and download emails. Currently I have to turn off wifi when at work until I need it, but I've had this working before. I'm on my second Desire as the Orange 2.2 update fubar'd the first , my first phone would always ask me if I wanted to connect to the works wifi, the new one just connects straight away, and it will only be a matter of time before my twitter app gets me into trouble.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my X it allowed me to manually choose to connect to wifi but lately it just auto connects and I cant turn it off if im in a wifi area. This puts a huge drain on my battery. I'd prefer to have the OPTION to connect to wifi if/when i want to and to use the 3G network otherwise. Any idea how I can address this issue? (I did recently install Launcher Pro. Not sure if that has anything to do w/ it but figured id mention it)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed the drivers listed in the topic at the top, I clicked mass storage as my option when i connected the phone, i mounted it by bringing down the drop down menu at the top of the phone (and hitting mount).... but when i connect it to my computer, I get nothing. I used to get an error message saying "There has been a malfunction with your USB device" in the lower right hand corner. I'm running Windows 7 32bit. I also tried on a Windows XP 32bit computer.

But now after this kies update I just sits there and says "Connecting the device... Please wait" This is rather annoying. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting, persists to do the same thing. I tried clicking some buttons. It says something about you can't do blah blahh when there is a firmware update. I didn't hit the firmware update button so it shouldn't be downloading and update.

I have "USB debugging connected" and "USB connected" on the phone but I cannot get the desktop computer to recognize the sdcard via Windows Explorer or get the devices recognized with "adb devices".

Using a Linksys wireless router with a WEP encryption at home. Every time I try to connect my phone says "Obtaining IP Address" and then after a short time it fails.
-Yes, my phone recognizes the router.
-Yes, I have the correct key.
-Yes, I have reset my router and modem, no change.
-Yes, I have restarted my phone.
-Yes, my phone connects just fine to unsecured wireless routers.
-No, I cannot find another thread that has solved this issue.
I just got my epic last week and had it rooted within hours. I have to say, I do love this phone. But I have noticed a slight inconvenience. I have installed the wireless tether app, and it works like a charm. No problem connecting other gadgets to it. But once I'm done tethering, and switch back to using wifi, the phone doesn't seem to want to connect to my home's wifi. I've tried reseting the phone, manually killing the tether app, and force closing the app under the applications tab in settings. But still no connection. Eventually, after 30mins or so, th phone will be able to connect once again. Has anyone else had this issue? It just seems somewhat of an unexpected problem, and a minor inconvenience. Any information on this or a possible fix would be greatly appreciated.

I rooted my captivate thinking that i could install apps that are blocked on my phone, like Sirius XM, WiFI tethering.....even after rooting the programs are still being blocked and i cant install them. am i missing something? im new to android and had an iphone that i jail broke. im confused on what rooting actually.

I uninstalled 3 recently installed apps, but no dice.
Running ADW.Launcher, and it used to rotate fine until last night.
Uninstalled those 3 apps one at a time, with a reboot after each, and nothing.
Sure would hate to have to reinstall the phone from factory wipe...
I did go into ADW.Launcher and disable+enable auto-orientation. Also tried LauncherPro, same results: no rotation. Any apps out there to TEST the built-in sensors, like the orientation sensor?
My battery is not very good and have to use task advance to turn them off all the time. I notice everytime I turn on the phone a bunch of app also start such as messenger, paypal, voice, fring etc.. so the first thing I do after turn the phone on was using task advance to kill all those apps. Is there a way to prevent them from auto start?

Now, the extra thing I would need is that it turn GPS off and Wifi on again when disconnected from the bluetooth device.
I have used A2dp volume, which turned GPS on, but not off...
phones worked good other then gps issue. recently after iv had the phone for 30 days it just stopped scanning for wifi access and wont turn on wifi at all.
