Samsung I7500 :: Cannot Mount USB With ADB Drivers
Aug 30, 2010
I am trying to update my Galaxy i7500 with the following tutorial:
Easy guide to updating to Galaxo!
I have installed the ADB drivers, and have gotten to the point where I need to start loading files onto the phone, however; I am now unable to mount the phone via USB. On the phone it says "USB connected", but the device does not appear in my computer. I should mention I am doing this from windows XP, so I was not able to follow the guide exactly, however the drivers did seem to install successfully. Currently in the device manager I see "ABD Interface > SAMSUNG GALAXY"

Okay, so if you are freaking out, or can't figure out why your new Epic isn't being recognized by your computer, calm down. Some of you are probably already searching for drivers. Ya I already went through that freak out when I got my Vibrant. Okay, to mount your phone, and have your computer recognize the internal/external memory, do this:Connect your phone to your computer via USB. Give it a few seconds.Next, PULL DOWN your notification bar. Next, tap your finger on "USB CONNECTED"You then get a message asking if you would like to mount. Tap "mount" confirming you would like to do so.Enjoy, your computer should now recognize the internal/external memory.BTW, reverse this process before pulling the usb cable out. Always remove a cable safely, otherwise the data can get corrupt. Don't just yank your cable out.Edit: some of you may also find the following useful. Hopefully the Epic is similar to the Vibrant in these setting

I got my galaxy few days ago and Yesterday I got home to my comp. I had an Israeli firmware version which is really annoying.
After reading in this forum and the Italian HD forum I successfully flashed the firmware(to H8 cause you people said the II5 is buggy) and rooted my phone. I want to install the USB drivers but I have a problem: I've already seen the guide that kam made but when i try to install the ADP driver I get this message(after it recognizes its a ADP driver but not recognize galaxy): I think this pictures will explain better than words. What happened when i install the driver: This is how my device manager looks AFTER i installed(unsuccessfully) the driver: this is how the driver looks: I use windows XP if somebody is confused. You can see in the "details" that my phone is VID_04E8&PID_6640&MI_04 So that is not the problem. UPDATE: I managed to solve my problem with this file.

After installing the galaxy drivers several times on windows 7 64 bit and after spending a lot of time searching the drivers for this OS, I decided to create a thread with the links to the drivers: for the fastboot (for flashing a new recovery img) and for the adb (for flashing firmware using odin when the phone is in download mode):
The link: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service. I suggest it will be a sticky, since last night I spent 1 hour in the stickies until I found these 2 drivers.

I lost my original microUSB cable that came with my Samsung Galaxy, and I went and bought a new one.
But, it seems like data doesn't sleep to work with this cable? Is that possible?
The phone is charging though, but I don't see a new drive popping up in my computer like usual, and I don't see the option of mounting the SD card on my phone..
Do I need a special kind of cable?

The Samsung i7500 Galaxy is, except the support from Samsung itself, a great Android smartphone with a very good (the best?) price for value. It's with 11,9mm the second slimmest Android phone after Nexus One with 11,5mm (right?) and has unlike the HTC phones a flash light and build in storage of 8GB. On most sites the Galaxy is (one of) the cheapest Android phones, I wonder if it's because Samsung is cheaper or HTC/Motorola more expensive by itself?
I personally would compare the i7500 with the HTC Hero, although in my opinion the i7500 still has a much better price for value.
Is it even possible to define if and which Android phone is a low, middle, or high-end smartphone?
Sure, it also depends for what purposes you bought and use your phone, but I still wonder were the i7500 would be if 1=low and 10=high end Android phone, and if there even is a number 10? I also think that the D-Pad is a big plus and not a minus in comparison to the scroll ball from HTC.

Does GAOSP Froyo support live wallpapers for i7500? If yes, can you recommend some that seem to run fine without (major) slowdown? I would suspect that the CPU is too slow to run most live wallpapers, but there might be some neat ones that are good to go?

Sorry if this thread seems inconsequential but I have been rendering myselves sleepless nights over the past couple of days ( and nights ) due to my inability to choose between the above two said android phones. I like the i5700 for its zippy 800 MHz processor and that its got the 2.1 update. I like the i7500 for its 5 MP camera and flash + a larger screen to play with I would have gone in for the i7500 but have been hearing about Samsung deciding against not updating it to version 2.1 which can off course be done taking the un-official channel. Moreover the 528 Mhz processor is certainly lagging.
But still I see people in here Going after the i7500 .... Adding to it there is more threads and discussions going around on the i7500 as compared to the i5700. Am I missing something in the i7500 or is it just that i am a stupid newbie ... I have gone through many many pages of information on this thread before posting this query.

Since I rooted to Radioactive Froyo 1.8.22 I've not been able to get my phone to connect to my PC. I tried uninstalling the programs I used to flash, [including deleting the registry files] and even re-downloaded the samsung update program, ran it to the point where it installs the drivers, and it then quit, and it still will not work.

I just finished dealing with Samsung Technical Support. First, a lengthy session w/ online Chat, ending with
"Diana: I am sorry, but we have reached the limit of our technical knowledge on this product. I am sorry,we at the chat support provide the basic troubleshooting information for our products, our agents in the voice support provide the next level of support for further assistance.
Diana: I suggest you to contact Samsung Technical Support at 1-888-987-4357 ...."
So, I went to online phone support, and was eventually told that Samsung has no Kies, mini-Kies, or any other support software for the Samsung Vibrant in with 64-bit computers (i.e. computers running Windows 7 in 64-bit mode). I assume this means that the 32-bit software works fine, as most 32-bit software does, but the hangup (no phone pun intended) is in the drivers. That's why it choked when I connected my phone and it tried to install the drivers. Can't use the software without the driver, and can't use the 32-bit driver in 64-bit windows.
Before online phone support told me it was impossible, she did send me to this page, to do a download of mini-Kies: http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa/jsp/faqs/faqs_view_us.jsp?SITE_ID=22&PG_ID=2&PROD_SUB_ID=55 7&PRO...
I don't know why she thought the one Samsung makes available when someone clicks through their support links was not good enough, but she was very definite she wanted me to use the other one instead. Here's the general Vibrant support links for downloads:
Samsung
from:
Samsung
Incidentally, while I was getting Online Chat support, I was told:
"Yes,it is compatible with the 64 bit windows also."
She also said that the full Kies (not just the mini-Kies) would be made available for the Vibrant, but since she was wrong about the 64-bit, ....
The phone support person did tell me that Samsung is working on making it available for 64-bit, but had no idea when that would be. She said, loyally, "soon."
I wanted to use Samsung's Kies software to connect (tether, with the USB cable) my phone to my laptop to use as an Internet connection. Now I can't do that until either (a) I find a 3rd party app that does this, or Samsung gets around to developing 64-bit drivers.
Anybody have any experience with using any 3rd party apps to tether to a 64-bit Win7 computer, for Internet service?
As I think about it, I think there's no excuse for Samsung having wasted so much of my time before telling me it was impossible. The pages their website lead me to said nothing about it working only for 32-bit. The software did not check to see if I had 64-bit and warn me it was fruitless. Online tech support said it would work with 64-bit. The page the phone tech support person took me to did specify 32-bit. Only then did I find out that I'd wasted all of this time. My time wasting was increased since I worried that maybe there was some problem with my laptop, so went through the whole process again with my desktop before trying to deal w/ Tech Support.

My computer with vista x64 has about a 50% success rate at recognizing when I hook up my Moment via USB. I've installed the Samsung USB driver for mobile phones v1.3.150.0, as well as the Samsung New PC Studio software. I have debugging checked, tried different USB ports, etc, and the only thing that seems to work is power cycling the phone. android 2.1. I suspect this has something to do with the "Abnormal Disconnect" error I keep getting from pdanet.

When the (HTC Desire) phone is powered up it is unable to mount the SD card, and I am unable to have it mounted from the "Settings > SD card & Storage" menu. Having said that, the micro SD card can be accessed from a computer (when plugged in directly to the computer, i.e. no issue with the card), and moreover, when I am in the recovery mode, I can have it mounted and browse it. By the way, the card could be accessed from the phone until I downgraded the O/S, and managed to have it rooted.
When the phone is running normally, and connected to the USB port of a laptop, the laptop does recognize a device connected (can even do ADB), but I believe because the SD card is not mounted, the phone does not offer the option to make the card appear as a disk drive for computer access.
I am running the original (RUU, Telstra) Android 2.2 (2.26.841.2) on a HTC desire, after I had it "S-OFF'ed". After reloading the original 2.2, I had it rooted.
The micro SD card is a 2GB one, with approx 1.5GB formatted as FAT16 (contains typical file and photos), and 0.5 GB as EXT3 (contains nothing at the moment).
HBoot: 6.93.1002
S-Off ( Revolutionary)
Recovery mode: ClockworkMod v5.0.2.0 (I manually loaded it)
I have searched online for solutions, and have not been able to have it fixed. Others seem to have different issues to that of mine. Usually, they cannot mount the SD-card at all (not even from recovery), or their SD card just needed to be reformatted. I think I have indicated that these do not appear to be relevant to my issue at all. I have also tried "Fastboot oem enableqxdm 0", and it made no difference.

So I rooted my moment and everything is fine and dandy. But when I went to flash back to the sprint stock firmware my PC won't pick up the USB. I have the drivers. My PC sees the phone as Android not Samsung mobile device. I can't seem to find a way for it to get the drivers. I wanted to try a different ROM then the one I'm running now.
