I have set up accounts for exchange and gmail. I am wondering if there is any way to tell the phone just synchronize folders I tell it to synchronize (e.g. just contacts and calendar and emails moved to certain filters). I don't want to hog the bandwidth with junk emails but at the same time don't want to miss emails from certain people which is moved to specific folders based on rules.

Is there any simple way to Sync it with my Outlook contacts and calendar? Also, can I connect it to my PC and tranfers photos and music directly or do I need to use special programs? If I want to transfer PDF's or Office Documents can I do that as a drag and drop?

I am still rocking my Blackberry 8310, and have really enjoyed how seamlessly I have been able to sync my contacts and calendar with my Macbook programs (ical and address book). I am curious if I will enjoy the same simplicity the Captivate, or rather the Android software its running, as I do with my Blackberry.

I now get my gmail in both apps, is there a way to stop the gmail from retrieving my email without affecting sync with contacts and calendar?
Can I stop the gmail app from running all the time if so how? everytime i check task killer i have both email apps running.
I am new to Android, Google calendar and the Captivate phone. Have successfully imported my old calendar to Google Calendar which initially synced with the calendar on my captivate. However, when I add a new event to my phone calendar, it does not automatically show up on the Google calendar. the Samsung rep told me I have to edit each new even to mark it as a "Google Calendar". Is there any way to make this the default option on the Captivate phone? I am hoping to have automatic syncronization b/t the phone and the Google calendar without having to force it to do so each time.

Context: I was given a brand new SIM card for it I switched from a Blackberry Bold.The AT&T rep. tried using the machine that connects both phones and synchs contacts from one to the other, but it did not work. My question is: How do you synch contacts from a Blackberry to the Captivate? Before you answer, let me say that I do have a Gmail account and I know the Contacts app can synch with the account, but I do not store my friend's phone numbers on there - and I do not want to individually input each one. Also, I own a Mac and when I had my blackberry I did not back up my contacts on my Mac, and did not have Outlook to back them up onto even if I had tried backing them up - so I cannot simply export my contacts to .csv and load them up to Gmail. There is more I can say (for instance, it seems as if my contacts have been put onto my Captivate, but they're not in the Contacts App that came preloaded with the Captivate...they are, instead, in the folders section under Contacts...how the heck did they get there?!) but I will stop here and see if anyone can guide me through this very frustrating process.

It is checked to sync and shows the sync (circle with arrows) symbol but it never syncs. In contrast, my GMAIL is having no problems syncing...only the calendar. My wife and I share our gmail account to keep calendar's in sync and it happens on her phone too.

Currently it is using the "On Time" tone, but when I change the notification ringtone, nothing changes. I can change the notification volume, which makes "On Time" louder, but I would like a different sound.

When I was discussing this in the Android Lounge, some people made it seem like they do that all the time. Does anyone here know if this can be set up some how on the Captivate. Or do you need to use a different calendar or something? By dialing direct I mean you are on the item in your calendar, and you can just click a number in the notes and the dialer comes up without having to copy and pasted the number over to the dialer.

Very frustrating. I had tried out the EVO for 3 weeks before getting the Captivate, and the stock android calendar would let me pull it up via maps or use navigator which was awesome! Any ideas on what I can do to get the same feature? Maybe I need a different calendar app. Any recommendations?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the capitvate At&t and have rooted and sideloaded from this site and have downloaded apps. I use Launcher Pro and have no problems with it. Recently I had tried to open Google Calendar and the Daily Briefing app, (I don't know if there is more) and it comes up with "Sorry the process com.android.calendar has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. blah blah blah. Use #9900# to copy out log. Neither one ever opens now. I have not done a hard reset, but have turned off pulled the battery. Any ideas short of starting all over. I mean its not crucial as I use DejaOffice, but I finally got my outlook to sync to the phone and all and don't really want to have to go through all the headach. In addition I have some paid apps and am afraid it will be a pain to get them back. I probably did too much tweaking to the phone I assume. Any help or advice other than "Sucks to be you" would be great.

It's only doing a one-way sync - events from my Google calendar are syncing to my phone but events created on my phone are not syncing to my calendar.

How do you change the notification sound for calendar? The one that goes off on calendar is different than the notification sound in settings.
