Has anyone been able to install the Gameloft games NOT on the marketplace on a Samsung Captivate?I know how to get around the sideload issue, but when you buy games on their site the purchase is device specific and AT&T is not in the list.

how to download games from the Gameloft site? I tried today but the site tells me there are no games for the Captivate, although there are for the Vibrant and Epic. Is this due to some AT&T bs?

But I found and application called "tattachapkinstaller" where it lets you install apps from gmail. But the problem is when I tried to use the app it would say "install blocked: for security, your phone is set to block installation of application not sourced in android market". I thought rooting the phone will allow me to?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a Captivate and upgraded to the leaked 2.2 update.Since I updated, gameloft apps(specifically Asphalt 5 HD) will no longer show up in the market.I have tried going to gameloft directly and even directly to the download page but it states that there is no such app.Again, I could find all gameloft apps before my update.I've also had other apps show up and when I click, the download page can't be found.is this because the apps are not compatible with 2.2?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI really want a free wifi tether, from what I have read barnacle is very good, and keeps AT&T from seeing that I'm tethering. Here is my journey thus far:
1. search barnacle on app market: no results
2. download double twist, search for barnacle, find it, scan the barcode. It recognizes it as barnacle. Sweet. I press the button to continue to app market, market opens, says "can't download that" or "error" or something.
3. Find the barnacle apk. online, download it to my computer, connect my captivate to my computer, throw the apk. file onto the captivate. Sweet! Now I have the apk. file on my phone at long last................
I've spent hours setting up my screens. I want to try out adw launcher but will it change anything on my screens?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI foolishly installed google voice on my Captivate before listening to all my AT&T voice mails.After I did this I realized that I had a bunch of voice mails on AT&T voice mail, and now I can't figure out how to get to the AT&T voice mails.Any suggestions? Do I need to de-activate google voice on my voice mail then get the AT&T messages, then re-activate the google voice on my voice mail?

For the specs of Captivate (1.0Ghz Processor, 512MB ram), Most of the games out there are just pitiful I don't know whether that's the result of lack game developers on Android or programmers today don't know how to optimize, I used to play way better games on a Pentium MX 166Mhz computer with 32MB ram (Quakes, Red Alert, C&C, Diablo just name a few so you know I am not bull shiting).
View 17 Replies View RelatedI've seen many threads on the crappy side asking how to side load apps (installing non market apps) well you can root (look for the sticky in our forum) or you just use the Side loading Wonder Machine with no need to root. I use it all the time (just got me an Oregon Trail apk anyway, just follow the instructions and you'll be happy. I would make two minor corrections though. I downloaded the samsung drivers from samsung them selfs. Also make sure you have the apk in the same folder as the wonder machine heres a video.

I preferred the captivate when I used it in the store in comparison but both are very good Smart Phones. Anyways Iphone games are better and i think its because they only have one phone to develop it for and its a fairly high end phone. My question to you is will there be any games coming out that are higher end that only work on like The Droid X, Galaxy S and higher end Android phones to really take advantage of the top end droid phones. My friend has some junk LG android that could no way run the quality of apps and games that our phones are capable of. Are these lower android phones holding us back?

I was using simple free phone earlier which doesn't require data plan but after two weeks I bought samsung captivate, AT&T added $25 data plan. I got my phone from AT&T store where my friend works so he took my data plan out of the plan for now but he said they will find out and add into your plan again. Also, He said that they recognize by your IMEI number. My question is: Is there anyway I can change my IMEI number? I was thinking to use my simple free Nokia phone's IMEI number and use it for Samsung Captivate so AT&T thinks that I am using Nokia phone.

It happens at the top of the screen just to the right below the battery. It's a quick yellow glow then it disappears until my phone is locked then unlocked again. Now I have an AT&T captivate and wonder whether GPS or other apps will work. Does GPS require a data plan to work? If so I'll have to figure out whetted I can add this to my T-D1 plan. This will also answer my question about whether using the Captivate for navigation in the US needs a data plan to work.

However neither Super Manager or ASTRO will allow me to uninstall the crap ware on my phone. Is there something I'm missing? I followed all the steps at XDA. So far I've tried to remove YPMobile, ATT Navigator, and ATT Maps. Any suggestions? I tried searching this on google and this forum but didn't come up with anything.
