Samsung Captivate :: Installing Gameloft 3D Games On Captivate
Jul 23, 2010Has anyone been able to install the Gameloft games NOT on the marketplace on a Samsung Captivate?I know how to get around the sideload issue, but when you buy games on their site the purchase is device specific and AT&T is not in the list.

Oct 19, 2010Does anyone know if it's safe to uninstall AT&T apps using titanium backup? Under the backup/restore tab if you tap an application it gives you the option to delete the app. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything before I went and started deleting stuff.

Sep 18, 2010I really want a free wifi tether, from what I have read barnacle is very good, and keeps AT&T from seeing that I'm tethering. Here is my journey thus far:
1. search barnacle on app market: no results
2. download double twist, search for barnacle, find it, scan the barcode. It recognizes it as barnacle. Sweet. I press the button to continue to app market, market opens, says "can't download that" or "error" or something.
3. Find the barnacle apk. online, download it to my computer, connect my captivate to my computer, throw the apk. file onto the captivate. Sweet! Now I have the apk. file on my phone at long last................

Jul 20, 2010I have rooted my captivate, but don't know how to use it yet! I am still a newb to this! But I found and application called "tattachapkinstaller" where it lets you install apps from gmail. But the problem is when I tried to use the app it would say "install blocked: for security, your phone is set to block installation of application not sourced in android market". I thought rooting the phone will allow me to?

Nov 30, 2010I foolishly installed google voice on my Captivate before listening to all my AT&T voice mails.After I did this I realized that I had a bunch of voice mails on AT&T voice mail, and now I can't figure out how to get to the AT&T voice mails.Any suggestions? Do I need to de-activate google voice on my voice mail then get the AT&T messages, then re-activate the google voice on my voice mail?

Aug 6, 2010I've seen many threads on the crappy side asking how to side load apps (installing non market apps) well you can root (look for the sticky in our forum) or you just use the Side loading Wonder Machine with no need to root. I use it all the time (just got me an Oregon Trail apk anyway, just follow the instructions and you'll be happy. I would make two minor corrections though. I downloaded the samsung drivers from samsung them selfs. Also make sure you have the apk in the same folder as the wonder machine heres a video.

Nov 9, 2010Anyone ever had this happen? Downloaded an update after the 2.1 upgrade and I sync'd my contacts with FB. It then deleted all of my contacts.So I deleted Facebook, re-stored all my contacts and reloaded Facebook. However, now it gets as far as installing and it never stops. It just stays on Installing.However, the FB app works fine on the phone itself.Is this a Market glitch? Is there anyway I can purge it from out of my downloads section?

i want to say that the leaked version of 2.1 was around 100 megabytes and Earlier today i received the offical OTA 2.1 from Verizon and it was only clocked in at 77 megabytes.
Talking to my stepdad, he was very interested in how one version can be different in size but "be the same".
I know theres another forums around here stating the two are the same (checksums and file details) but whats taking up that extra 30 megabytes on the leaked version?

May 19, 2010I have seen rumors that the offical 2.1 update will disable the ability to root. I have a rooted Hero running Fresh 2.0d (about to update to 2.1.1 or Toast) however my wife has a stock Hero. She is not a major geek so I have not roooted her phone yet, however I plan on doing it soon. I was going to wait til the offical 2.1 came out to see if she liked it and if she didn't I would root her phone.
Will the offical 2.1 make it so I can not root her phone? If so, I need to root her phone before Sprint pushes this out OTA.

I was using simple free phone earlier which doesn't require data plan but after two weeks I bought samsung captivate, AT&T added $25 data plan. I got my phone from AT&T store where my friend works so he took my data plan out of the plan for now but he said they will find out and add into your plan again. Also, He said that they recognize by your IMEI number. My question is: Is there anyway I can change my IMEI number? I was thinking to use my simple free Nokia phone's IMEI number and use it for Samsung Captivate so AT&T thinks that I am using Nokia phone.

Now I have an AT&T captivate and wonder whether GPS or other apps will work. Does GPS require a data plan to work? If so I'll have to figure out whetted I can add this to my T-D1 plan. This will also answer my question about whether using the Captivate for navigation in the US needs a data plan to work.

However neither Super Manager or ASTRO will allow me to uninstall the crap ware on my phone. Is there something I'm missing? I followed all the steps at XDA.
