View 2 RepliesI have been trying to charge this thing for about 4-5 hours now and it still won't get a full charge. I'm using a wall charge because I know that is more powerful than charging through my computer, but even with the phone off it is not getting a full charge. In comparison my Evo, Hero, Palm Pre and iPhone charge full within 2-3 hours, closer to 2 with the phone off. I'm just wondering if this is an isolated issue or more widespread.
View 7 Replies View RelatedTo all those who have battery issues.... How long do you charge your battery for? Check this out:
Saturday night -> Sunday - charged phone for 7 hours
Sunday - about 18-19 hrs of battery life - moderate usage
Charged from 6pm sunday night to 4am monday - (10 hours on charger)
Monday -> Tuesday - 38 hours of battery life - moderate usage
Charged tuesday from 1030pm to 4am wednesday (6 hours on charger
Tuesday - 16 hours of battery life - moderate usage.
BOTTOM LINE: I think the phone says it is charged way before it actually is full. Let me know if anyone else is having the same issues....
Mine takes a LONG ass time! And its plugged into the wall, not sure why.
View 44 Replies View Relatedso i have been wanting to switch a android phone for a while and a bud hooked me up with a captivate, i used it for about a month or two and switched back to my iphone because the android just ran slow as molassas which it should do on the captivate which has some beefy specs as i understand. so i switched back recently the 2.2 release (froyo)popped up on the net and everyone harped about how its 8 million times faster, so i upgrade to the 2.2 release following some instructions on gizmodo or some site similiar, now the phone runs even slower perhaps if i was to strip the at&t 2.2 and put back on just stock standard android 2.2 it would improve? am i not flipping a switch? i am dying to try out a android phone that supposedly can beat my iphone, please any advice, suggestions, smacks upside the head.

View 11 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know why my GPS icon on the top toolbar of my phone would be running randomly? I have no apps running that would require it to come on and the only way to get it to turn off is to power the phone down and then turn it back on. It doesn't bother me.but I do believe it is running my battery down faster then normal.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy gmail app suddenly stopped working. i have background and auto sync on. contacts and calendar syncing without any issue. mail is the only problem. i uninstalled ADW launcher which i updated right before this problem and all related apps for that launcher from the phone. i rebooted the phone (several methods including holding down power and volume buttons down, power off and battery out) but the problem still persists. I am unable to see the gmail app in the android marketplace from my phone. Otherwise, i will uninstall the one in my phone and reinstall the same. Another crazy thing is..when i open manage applications under settings, i dont see gmail app there. i have to app on my tray but not found in the applications list.what is going on?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI got two text messages from AT&T last night stating that there is an update available. Specifically, it says:
AT&T Free Message: AT&T is providing a free update for your phone. When asked to install the update, please select OK.
Anyone else running Cognition getting these messages? I'm running 2.3 beta (something I forget). Is this just the reminder for the update they sent down a month or so ago?
Just curious what the bugs are that everyone talks about with 2.2
The only bug I notice is when I disable BT it mentions something about a SIM card.
How do you get running apps to show up in the notification drop down menu?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an app that has a service with it. This service is started the first time you open the app is is suppose to run continuously in the background every two minutes. It seems that at some point though the service stops running or alarmManager stops scheduling/doing what is requested of it. Here is a breakdown of my code flow.
User opens the app,. Service is started, Inside the service I cancel any alarms that might be for this app then create a new one set for two minutes out, Once the alarm is set I call a GPS location check to get lat/lon, I then call up a .net web service to do some stuff with the lat/lon, Once text is returned I check that text for certain Items, If a certain item is found I send a broadcast out to a receiver that then creates a wakelock, starts a new intent to open an activity of my app then sounds an alarm, Right after I broadcast I call stopSelf() as well as calling stopSelf() if the text did not contain certain Items, I call finish() on the new activity I started if we go that far once the Active screen of my app is closed.
The reason I think something is dieing out here is because after some point in time usually once I wake up in the morning and check the phone I no longer see my GPS icon on my droid checking every two minutes.
I am doing an application in android which requires to know for how long the application is running. Do anyone know how to retrieve such information??. Is there any way where android provides the information about the running applications ,from how much time they are running?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm planning to use the JavaScript interface to Java, to connect to Java methods that go to the network (or some other long-running function) and deliver the results via callback.
The flow is: 1. User clicks on a link in the WebView, which calls my Java code. 2. My Java code posts a worker Runnable to a Handler, and returns immediately. 3. The worker goes to the network, then makes a callback to the WebView.loadUrl("function('result')") to deliver the result.
I made an example that sleeps inside the Runnable. The entire WebView becomes unresponsive! What is the proper way (if any) of implementing a long-running JavaScript call?
Is it safe to call loadUrl() from multiple threads?
I have an AsyncTask that scans the file system and publishes progress through Notifications. To do this I need a reference to the current Activity in the AsyncTask.
I also don't want to kill the task when the activity is destroyed. How do I avoid leaking the activity and everything it references on each configuration change?
One possibility is to remove the reference in OnPause() to be sure it is gone when the Activity is destroyed, but that would mean notifications stops coming as soon as you leave the activity which is no good.
Isn't there a recommended way of dealing with AsyncTasks in this way?
How to programmatically stop a long-running query?
The long-running step is, for example, the first call to Cursor.moveToFirst(). This can sometimes take up to 30 seconds so I would like the user to be able to cancel.
However, how should this be done? I've tried closing the Cursor (in another thread) but all that happens is that the close() call takes as long as moveToFirst() and then terminates with the exception:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: attempt to acquire a reference on a close SQLiteClosable

I thought it was my router (netgear n600) but my iPad and cell phone.
I listen to podcasts and recorded shows that can go on for several hours. I'm looking for a media player with a "skip to" function, so if I get interrupted, I don't have to fiddle with my finger on a slider to find the right section. I just enter "1:33" or whatever and the player goes to that location. Neither the stock media player nor mixzing support that (that I can see). I don't need full RSS support, automatic downloading, I just want a media player that I can skip to a particular spot in a track by specifying the time.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIt wasn't long so I never paid attention before, but since the upgrade to 2.1 it takes my Moment around 2mins and 50secs to turn on (from black samsung logo to home screen) and about 50 secs before gps and everything is loaded up and ready to use. I timed it to find out if this was normal.
How long does it take your Moment to power on and load up?
Mine is already on 59 percent for the last 20 minutes, I feel charging is extremely slow on this. Or is it a defect?
