Jul 26, 2010I had to get a new EVO because my charging port failed on my first one. When I got the new EVO, I entered my gmail account & all my contacts came back down to the phone. I have re-installed all my programs and Facebook is working. I CAN NOT get my facebook to sync up with my contacts. I go into people, select the link icon, click Link to Facebook and it does nothing. I also went into Menu-Settings-Accounts & Sync and clicked Sync All (my facebook and gmail address are in there)--it runs the sync and I still get nothing. I pulled the battery, I updated my PRL & profile but it won't work. I even uninstalled Facebook, reinstalled it and it still won't work. Does anyone here have any ideas on how I get my FB contacts to sync up with my contacts?

May 28, 2012 in my account settings I have FB synced to include in my contacts. A few weeks ago though I looked in my contacts and just my original added contacts showed up, no FB contacts. I can't even sync my existing contacts to their FB account.
I think I read somewhere that there is some sort of dispute maybe with Google and FB but I could be completely wrong!

Does the standard alarm work (I used Alarmed & my regular alarm when I'm really tired and I stagger the alarms so that at least 1 will wake me up with stock alarm, i can't turn it off without shutting off the phone). Is Facebook contacts synced with contacts again, or is like the 1.5 Hero. Does it sync ALL your google contacts (2.1 Hero) or does it allow you to choose which group to sync (1.5 Hero). Those are my issues with the Hero since the upgrade, if these problems are not on the EVO, then to the EVO I go.

Sep 6, 2009I recently purchased an HTC Hero on Orange in the UK, and I'm loving it. Eagerly awaiting the firmware upgrade to smooth out the slight lag.
I was wondering if anyone had the following issue though. I've done a search and couldn't find anything quite the same.
I have a problem with selected contacts in People not syncing with facebook. The profile picture does not appear. Under Updates and events it either says "No updates or events" or "Updating". For the person's Albums tab it also says "No albums" under Facebook.
It is always the same contacts - I think just 4 out of about 30. It's been the same for a few days now. Obviously these are people I know have profile pictures and photo albums!
I have tried:
Turning the phone off and on.
Disconnecting and reconnecting to facebook in the settings.
De-linking and then re-linking the contact to their facebook profile.
Deleting and then re-adding the contact and then linking the new contact entry with the facebook profile.

Jan 29, 2010I've read the constant threads where people say, just find the friend on facebook, hold press their icon and it will do whatever. doesnt work at all, the only thing happens is if i quick press i get the chooser to email them, or view their facebook profile. what im trying to do is manually sync a contact on my phone with a facebook contact. on my friends droid eris he can open up a phone contact, hit edit and actually has a field for him to type my facebook name in and it will sync. there anyway to do this? im tired of only having like 10 peoples profiles actually syncing with my phone contacts and another 100 not synced..

May 2, 2010I can't stand the fact that the Facebook app automatically adds my Facebook friends to my contact list, but they don't show up when I open the People icon, only when I'm choosing the contacts to send or forward a text to.I want to be able to sync the contacts I have with their Facebook profile, but I don't want Facebook automatically adding contacts to my phone.And I can't just diasble auto-sync because there are programs that apparently need it running. The only other option I can think of is to completely remove Facebook from my phone and that's bullsh*t.I know it sounds confusing, but does anyone have any ideas on how to get around this? It woulddn't be such a problem, but now when I go to pick my contacts to forwards to, I have hundreds of contacts instead of the 95 or so I had before.

Sep 21, 2010This is one of the first problems I encountered when I used HTC Sense to Sync my contacts with facebook. This is what it was like before I synced with facebook.
E.g.
Georgia Bowman
Call mobile.

Send message.

After Syncing, there DP is up, aswell as email address etc. It also changed the number to
44xxxxxxxxxx
I've found a solution. Go to a contact with the 44xxxxxxxxxx number. Ensure the contact is still linked to facebook
Menu > Edit
This brings up the Edit screen
Scroll down, Then add.
On the Drop down, select Phone > Work
Now, providing you only had one number for that person, you should have two fields. One called Mobile with their number this format 07xxxxxxxxx. (If its in the +44xxxxxxxxx format, then change it to the 07xxxxxxxxx format)
Press on the top field (the original one), then copy all.
Select the field called work, then press on the field, hold, and paste.
Now press Menu > Save.
Now press and HOLD the field called Call work, and set this as your primary number.
Once primary number is on the field called call work, you can now go to Menu > Edit.
Now delete the Field labeled Mobile
Go to the field called work, then change the label to Mobile.
Menu > Save.
This will now stay as your contacts primary number.
E.g.
Georgia Bowman
Call mobile.
07xxxxxxxxx
Send message.
07xxxxxxxxx
Instead of having 44xxxxxxxxx

Sep 3, 2010Is there a way to selectively sync Facebook contacts to my phone? I have roughly 1000 Facebook "friends" but only 300 are really friends and family and the rest are mainly gaming friends for games like Mafia Wars, etc. and I don't want to sync those. I want the Facebook contacts who I personally know to show up when I use the contacts icon on the home screen. I would like to sync them but I'm afraid it will import the list and I would have to manually delete them.

I removed some bloatware using TB and removed the apk responsible for updating my facebook contacts profile pics. I notice this yesterday as my wife had changed her profile pic and status they have not updated in my contacts. This has been going on since the night I 2.2 it and rooted and removed the bloatware. Does any body know the apk (system app) that needs to be re-installed. I have downloaded the system apps.rar file and have all of them, I just don't know which one it is.

May 22, 2010Has anyone figured out the difference between syncing Facebook for HTC Sense in the account syncing section vs. plain Facebook? I am trying to figure out if the one I'm using (Facebok for HTC Sense) is using up too much memory.
My phone memory is around 33% whereas my husband's memory is 64%! He has very few contacts and I'm wondering if the syncing with Facebook is taking up all my phone memory (vs SD Card memory which is fine).

Jan 16, 2010I seem to be having a sync issue with my Droid.When I add a contact to my phone, it doesn't sync into "My contacts" in Gmail; it'll sync into "All contacts". So, a couple of questions:
1) How can I get the phone to add new contacts created on my Droid into "My contacts" in Gmail?
2) I'm trying to understand the point of "All contacts". Why does Gmail want to keep a list of anyone that I've ever sent an email to? Otherwise, it'll be simple enough to just merge the two groups and call it a day.(Note: When I bought my Droid I did NOT have the VZW sales person transfer my contacts or any data from my old Blackberry to my Droid. I used Google Sync on my BB and synced my contacts from my BB to Gmail, then when I got the Droid, it automatically pulled my contacts from Gmail.)(FWIW, yes, I did a search and found two great threads: http://androidforums.com/support-troubleshooting/15042-how-do-i-push-droid-contacts-back-gmails-my-contacts.html and http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/15069-contacts-dont-really-synchronize.html but I have a different situation than most of those guys and I'd actually prefer to sift through and merge a couple of contacts from "All contacts" to "My contacts" every once in a while than deal with a backup and factory reset.)

I looked up her Google Contacts [URL] and there is no "Starred in Android" group, as it should be. I think it should be automatically created when she fovorites a contac in her phone. But instead, it deletes the starring of the contacts in the phone each time it syncs.

Oct 27, 2009I've had my HTC Hero for a couple of months and finally think I've got to grips with the majority of its features. One of the things I really liked when I originally set it up was the fact that my contacts in People would sync up with anyone it recognised as having a facebook account and therefore provided their profile picture and birthday info etc. However, a couple of weeks ago all these pictures suddenly disappeared and I've no idea why - I can still get onto facebook fine and my contacts all seem as they were except they're all pictureless and it's really starting to annoy me. Has anyone else experienced this or is there any setting I'm missing or something I've done wrong??
On a completely unrelated note (although I may well post this seperately), I've recenly downloaded Handcent SMS from the market as I'd read that this was a good alternative to the original messaging application, but I don't know how to set this as my default SMS app and to get rid of the original off my home screen.

Apr 2, 2010Ok so I just flashed JRummy's remix last night and since then I haven't been able to get my Facebook account to sync... I do the Settings>Accounts and sync>Add Account>Facebook and all it does is go back to the add account page... I had this problem before I used JRummy's so I don't think it is the ROM... (that time I just kept hitting facebook and it eventually worked).
