View 3 Replies View RelatedJust got my new Captivate (replacing iPhone) and am trying to figure out how to copy / paste text from an email I have received. I have searched the forum and tried everything I can think of.
View 12 Replies View RelatedIn the browser, if you are replying to a thread or if someone posts a picture and it's bigger then the window...on a computer you will get a separate scroll bar for that window...you guys know what I'm talking about?
On the iPhone you can use two fingers and it will scroll that separate window separately from the main window. How do you do this on the Captivate?
I have the free version, but in the full version: Can you open a Word doc, copy some text, and then paste it in an email message?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm doing a bit of online copy-writing on the side at the moment, and it would be great if I could use this thing to write a few paragraphs here and there when I'm on the move. How would the HTC Desire handle multi-tasking between a browser and a basic text editor? I won't be looking for any crazy formatting options; don't need to change margins, add pagination or anything. Just a few sites open for researching facts and an application that can handle badly worded sentences with lame jokes thrown in
My contract is due to run out soon and I'm not sure whether I should negotiate one with a free Desire, or get a cheap handset and then buy a netbook. I'm broke at the moment so its a case of either/or!
how do you paste copied text (ie a URL) from a web page into a new window to open that page?
Also can you restrict internet connection to 3g or 2 g only?
I've just come from n900 so trying to figure out the differences!
I can't work out how to select text or copy and paste in any of the applications/browser/messaging. Can anybody help?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat are options for using the web browser with white text on black? I really want this option because it is so much easier on the eyes and better for battery as well. I've tried this option in the e-reader for reading and it makes a world of difference although its something to get used to a bit.

View 22 Replies View RelatedWell I paid no attention to my phone turning off, because before it would only do it maybe once or twice a week so it was no biggy. But this last week, every day when I woke up and checked my phone, it would be off, and throughout the day it would shut off 4-6 times a day. Then I looked up the problem and saw that I had purchased a bugged phone. The thing is, I noticed this OUTSIDE of my 30 day window.
Now I'm about to call AT&T, buy I am scared that I'm going to get my exchange rejected, or they're going to try to give me a new battery when clearly that's not going to help. What can I say in order to persuade them to make the exchange? I'm really bad at making a good point and I need to write down points and have them in front of me so I don't forget to bring them up, and me end up sounding like I don't know what I'm talking about.
Does it just depend who I talk to and hang up on whoever isn't giving me what I want to hear and try again?
First I'm very new to smart phones: I use the application called Handcent SMS, if I hold down the Message bubble when texting I have an option menu appear > Message Options > Copy Message Text.
1) Question: Where does it save the copied text to and how can I paste it to lets say another app like the already built in Phone Book.
2) What is a good place to see a list of function apps for the Droid, and why is the latest build still 1.6 when other phones already have 2.2? (sorry if that question has been asked before.
I tried searching everywhere for this but all that would come up was lockscreen "wallpapers". I was wondering if theres anyway to change the Slide to unlock to something similar to a droids or nexus ones slide to unlock. If it matters any, I am rooted.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI thought this would be easy to find:
A text editor that can create/edit text files from the SD card.
i.e. Windows Notepad on the Desire?
Had my captivate for a month now(not rooted). I am really enjoying it as my first smart phone and the customization (Zeam launcher, Handcent SMS, etc) is really great. One thing that bugs me though are the soft keys. The way it is set up mainly. Why is the home key between the back and the menu button? and why do i need a search button. I understand the droid is google based, but really? why does it need a button dedicated to it. rooted phone can you change the function of the softkeys so i could have the search key do something different when pressed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Captivate's browser will crash / shut down, upon attempting to launch a web page.
This occurs with random pages, it happens about once out 20 times I go to load any web page.
It does not happen on the all pages, just certain pages. (I've failed to note which pages so far) When it does happen, if I try to open that same web page again again, it crashes. If I immediately try another web page it's fine.
My Captivate is original, w/ver 2.1 Eclair, not rooted (yet) and otherwise operates very well. So far it's the only bug I've had.
Coming from the DInc, I loved the copy and paste feature. It seems to be missing on the X. Or am I missing something.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWas out today and called up some numbers for restaurants in the browser. I tried to copy the number from the browser so I could paste it into the dialer. I managed to get the number to the clip-board, but then I couldn't paste it into the dialer! I'm using a DSTL1 which only has soft keyboard and I can't get combinations of shift and menu to make it work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAnyone have any work around for this? Also if you are in the sense browser you cannot click on a phone number that has. instead of - and have it dial. you can on the basic Android browser.
It is these two things that kill sense for me. If anyone has any workarounds they would be much appreciated.
How do I copy and paste a link into the browser. I have an option to copy text, but no option to paste? Am I missing something.

View 13 Replies View RelatedMy Android Desire is a superb device and will do almost anything I want. Even cleans up around the house and makes coffee and feeds the cat. However, there is one simple thing I cannot get it to do: provide me with a simple text editor like Wordpad so that I can write little texts on the go. I've searched everywhere for this function. I cannot imagine that it is missing from the phone, it's so basic. When I search for "text" I get all sorts of stuff on writing "text" messages, i.e. SMS messages (the term "text" seems to have lost its original meaning and is now used almost exclusively to refer to SMS messages). Where is the Desire equivalent of Wordpad or Notepad or, better, Notepad++?
View 33 Replies View RelatedI've been wondering if there's a way of getting -preferably from within the Gmail app- access to the editor box, shown in this picture:
So far I haven't discovered a way to do it. My Droid III's Email app does have that option, but not Google's own mail app?
Are there any free text editing programs? I'm an author, and a broke one at that, I like to write in my spare time. I found a decent one for my blackberry that worked pretty well, but since I've changed over to Android, I'm at a complete loss. At the moment I am running XtrROM4.2 on my Droid HTC Eris.

The best txt viewer/editor for Microsoft Windows is Notepad ++. It's such a shame we don't have something like that on Android. Anyways, I need a Text Editor with the following features:
1-Full-screen mode: A mode the fills the whole screen. I mean no menu, no toolbar, no nothing! What I need for the app is to fill the whole screen when I put the phone in horizontal position. I don't need to see a menu bar on battery percentage when I'm reading a book.
2-Last Position: Remembers the place of your last visit. For instance, if I open a text file and read till page 6, the next time I open the app it starts from page 6 and not from the beginning.
3-Font choices and Background color: Gives you the option to change the color of the background. Also, the more fonts and styles it has the better.
The stock browser is pretty subpar...what is the best one out there for download?
