Samsung Captivate :: Bluetooth - Will Not Reconnect Without Manually Reconnecting
Aug 8, 2010My Captivate will not reconnect without me manually reconnecting it.

My Captivate will not reconnect without me manually reconnecting it.
I'm running the firmware 1.6 JC6 on my I7500L. (same old IK6 baseband)But I have a problem with Bluetooth. My galaxy is paired with my car bluetooth system. When I boot the galaxy it connects and is ok. But if I leave the car, for sure is disconnects. But is unable to reconnect automatically when I return in my car.If I go in bluetooth settings, I see paired but not connected. If I try to connect it manually, it freezes trying to do so.The only way for me to get my Samsung Galaxy reconnected to my car bluetooth is to reboot it each time I want to use it!
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe only problem is when it reroutes. It takes about 30 seconds to get to the point where it will talk, then it will reroute itself and just mess up. I know this is pretty dumb, but is there anyways to prevent rerouting manually?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have read that to install apps manually I need to go to menu-applications and check unknown sources. I don't see that as an option in JH7 so am I missing something? Also, just to review. I can get any APK that will work on my phone, copy it over, double click on it and thats it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm coming from windows mobile here so I'm not sure if this is an Android thing or the Incredible specifically, but the bluetooth implementation absolutely sucks. I'm using the phone with the Plantronics 975, which is an absolutely fantastic earpiece. The problem is that it NEVER automatically reconnects to the headset after moving out of range and then back in. I've also verified this with an old motorola headset, so the phone is the problem. With my Touch Pro 2, I could walk outside to my car to get something with the earpiece still in my ear, and the phone would disconnect and then automatically reconnect when I get back inside. Not only does the Incredible not do this, but when I come back in, even after pressing the button on the bluetooth headset (which I didn't have to do on WinMo) it just says "paired but not connected" in bluetooth settings. In order to get the phone to reconnect with the headset, I have to turn bluetooth off, back on, go into wifi settings and click "connect" EVERY SINGLE TIME I go out of range and back in range. Coupled with the infamous lack of touchless voice dialing, I am seriously dissapointed in Android's implementation of bluetooth, and don't understand how Google can put out a phone that sucks so bad as a phone - especially when in many states such as mine, a bluetooth headset is the ONLY legal way to use your phone when you drive. Any ideas how to fix this annoying problem or am I just stuck with it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy auto timeout is set to 15 seconds yet the past day it just stays on until I manually turn it off....anyone had this problem?
I have tried switching the auto timeout amount multiple times...still just sits here until I manually turn it off.
I have had my Samsung Galaxy for over 2 weeks now, and I keep having the problem where my phone would lose reception and it would take forever to reconnect or in some cases not reconnect at all.I have to turn the phone off and on again to get it to pick up the network again. Is there a way to solve this problem?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI poked around the site (here and XDA) and didn't find anything that said there was an issue with syncing a bluetooth headset(s). I'm not running any lagfixes (at least nothing enabled via rom-manager for now) and I have a jawbone headset. Has anyone else had this problem, and could I have borked bluetooth with an app/user-data restore (Titanium)?

View 8 Replies View RelatedGot my captivate today, loving it so far, first experience with Android. I was on the phone with my GF today, talking on my bluetooth headset and I was trying to browse the web while we were talking. My connection (WiFi) was being very flaky, extremely slow, or just plain unable to load anything. Turned wifi off and when I tried to turn it back on, it refused to connect to my network.
When I got off the phone with her, I tried to connect to WiFi again and it worked perfectly fine, full speed. Made a phone call to test it out, same result, WiFi extremely slow or not working at all. At that point I thought there was something wrong with the phone being unable to make a phone call and use WiFi at the same time. Then I decided to try disconnecting my BT headset and it worked perfectly. Right now I'm streaming a video off youtube with a phone call connected, but the second I turn my BT headset on the connection dies.
When my car bluetooth downloads the phonebook from my captivate, it downloads some contacts, but doesn't download the ones from my exchange server. They show up fine in the contacts app, but the car doesn't receive them. I thought it might be an issue with the way they were put into the contacts, so I undid the built in android exchange account, deleted the contacts, then installed touchdown and populated it that way. Still no joy. I thought that originally it was downloading them correctly (using the built in exchange sync) but either stopped working correctly, or never was and I just now noticed it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I have navigation going and am wearing my bluetooth, or using the bluetooth speaker from my visor, the first one to two words do not make it through the bluetooth. For example, if it says "Turn right on main street", I'll here "right on main street". Some times I'll here "main street". I am certain that it is missing those words, because I can listen w/o bluetooth and hear it all. I am presuming that maybe it 'disconnects' the voice until it needs to use it, and it results in an lag.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOne thing that I really like about the phone is the ability to play music from my phone to my car stereo via Bluetooth because it has the A2DP. No wires and I can control the music ON the deck itself instead of the phone. I've updated the phone with the leaked froyo about 2 days after it was leaked. I noticed that I couldn't play music from my phone to my car stereo anymore via bluetooth. I am able to take calls fine via bluetooth while I am driving, it just won't play any music.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am joining the Captivate crowd. Currently browsing deals (frustratingly, most won't allow me to choose the small plan I require).
I read a few places that you can't use voice command/control when the phone is on bluetooth. Has there been any change to this since it was first released?
My car stereo is equipped to use a phone via bluetooth, with a microphone mounted by the rear view mirror. I live for this at times, but voice dialing would be 10x more helpful than scrolling through contacts on the stereo screen.
Also, I'd love to know if you can legitimately get visual voicemail without paying a monthly fee? At least for now, I want to keep the phone legit and not mess with warranty, etc.
I'm obviously asking for a brand new phone - as of right now, not "well, when it was released x, y, z" as I think sometimes things change quickly with phones.
Does anyone know if we can automatically link to a Bluetooth device once you enable Bluetooth? It's lame to turn Bluetooth "on" with the power widget but have to go to the bluetooth settings to actually link to a device.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have implemented a RemoteService which will increment a countere ( just for testing purposes ). Therefore I have a Task class which implements Runnable and the method run() where a infinite while loop increments the variable.
From the client side, I start the RemoteService with startService and then i bind to the service. When I close the activity, the service is still running. Now i want to rebind to the service.
How do I know if the service has already been started (therefore i would only need to bind to the service again) or not (then I would need to call startService() first and then bind to the service)?
What would happen, if I call startService() if the service is already running? Does the OS start a second service, or will it affect the service which is already running?

After 8 hours of flawless operation , the usb starting disconnecting and then reconnecting. The check box in the settings screen for USB tethering would uncheck. If you rechecked it it would connect then disconnect and uncheck the box. We moved from a front USB port on the Gateway to a rear USB port and that fixed that problem but after overnight, no WiFi access. Rebooting the computer fixed that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a problem with my T10. Whenever I'm doing something that uses WiFi, I keep getting D/C'd. Its not my router, because I have other tabs in the house which are fine. View 3 Replies View RelatedIt's clear I'm not alone, when it comes to the loss of network comms on my Moment. I've just resigned myself to the fact that I have to get used to power-cycling the phone when things go bad, and hope against hope that 2.1 is our miracle cure.
But I'm looking for a quicker way to restart my phone, instead of doing the off/on thing. When the phone stops being a phone, the process "com.samsung.internal" has likely crashed. I found where I can force-stop that application (and just about anything else), but I haven't seen where it's stored, in an attempt to manually start it. Can it be done? If so, how?
Has anyone manually updated their PRL? I tried ##775# but it just sits there. Is that the right code?
View 14 Replies View RelatedHi I am looking to pick up a new phone in July. I was thinking about possibly picking up the Samsung moment. I know Samsung is usually very slow with releasing updates so I was just wondering if in general you could manually update the phone with the latest updates or do you need to wait for samsung to do it.
View 5 Replies View Relatedfrom the updated Engadget review "[Update: We just spoke with Samsung, who told us that Google is now requiring that the "use wireless networks" setting for location-based services be turned off by default in Android devices, in other words, no AGPS unless you manually enable it. Sure enough, we went into Settings, found that it was disabled on the Epic, turned it on, and we were good to go. No GPS bug!]" that paragraph is now right before the wrap-up.
