I just updated from R5 to R7 and I'm still having issues with the GPS. Specifically I'm using Google Maps/Navigate and they can't seem to find my location. The first day I flashed R5, it took a few minutes, but Navigate eventually locked on and started working. I just let it run for 45 minutes and it couldn't locate. Has anyone else has any trouble or success with GPS in the 1.6 ROMs?

Can someone post a link to an HTC_IME.apk that works with BH_Man's roms? I hate Swype, and every HTC_IME.apk file I find force closes when I select it under Input Method. Help?

What im looking for is a rom that will run a bit faster but leave the camera app alone. i personally like twiz but i'd like to try the phone without it. the problem is that i dont know if the camera app build in to the camera is twiz or not. i dont want to lose all the camera options. is there a rom that removes twiz but leaves the camera and its app alone? the camera the app for it and how it ran were the big selling points for me.

I have little doubt that the battery problems would be solved by bumping out of cupcake. I actually like Touchwiz, but it seems to be causing a ton of problems. Once we get 2.0 from Samsung, I don't think we can rely on it to fix the little things. It's time to bump it up to stock ourselves. I'm no ROM cooker, but I'm willing to try. Now that we have persistent root, what next? How do we start making ROMs for this thing?

I am currently running BH2 1.6 no twiz. I was thinking on trying the galazy 1.6 but on the BH2 1.6 no twiz thread. It says that flash boot and phone only once, why? I want to go back to 1.5. should I only flash PDA? Why BH_MAN says only flash boot, phone once?

A Samsung Behold 2 to backup/edit/test ROMs on
Root via try3/asroot2, persistent su, or modified kernel
Working ADB connection
SD Card with ~300MB free
Cygwin - if you are working in Windows
Basic knowledge of a command line
Making the ROM Dump: The Behold 2 has 14 partitions in its flash memory, but only a few of these are useful to modify. You will want to focus on different partitions depending on what you want to do. After you make a ROM dump you will need to package it using the instructions in the following section before you can flash it. Backup your personal data? You may want to backup your data while trying out a different ROM. It is simple to do. Start an ADB shell session and obtain root access. So I've had my Behold 2 for about 2 months now, and I've tried several different ROMs, but all of them have this same problem, apps always disappear after a reboot. Things such as google maps, navigation, places, springpad, dropbox, astrid tasks, handcent sms, even the android market sometimes is completely gone, not even in the apps list from settings. It only shows a white box with the green android, and when opened, it just says app not installed. If I reboot/pull battery some of the apps mix n' match for which ones to appear and not. After one reboot, dropbox will be gone, while on another springpad will be gone but dropbox is back.
So it's never the same. I'm currently using BHMAN's latest take5 ROM, and I've tried 1.6 no twiz, microhaxo's OTA 1.6 tweaked as well as bearsfan's all having similar results. Now when I first flashed a custom ROM, I used the unlockr's guide, and followed the rooting instructions there. Could it be that the rooted ROMs are interfering somehow with the already rooted phone? Is it possible to unroot the phone and flash back to stock 1.5 or 1.6? Then I would try flashing to one the latest ROMs.
I am looking to see if anyone (BH_MAN... ) has Alpha Recovery from the last BH_MAN ROMS dumped into an odin ready image. I am trying to get A2SD to work on the OTA, and I would like to be able to partition the SD card directly from the phone, which Alpha Recovery does...

Someone mentioned using a better USB cable and I tried it out of desperation. It WORKS! Apparently the USB cable that ships with the Epic 4G is kinda crappy. I plugged in the brand new cable and it just plain worked.

I also downloaded the free version of Boot Animation from the market. It too reports success but doesn't actually change the boot animation. Has anyone had any success changing their boot animation?

View 13 Replies View RelatedAlright whats up people I was recently searching through and through for a way to get mobile internet without paying that ridiculous android price so as I was searching I stumbled across a regular behold forum at Samsung Behold Forum - New Proxy (TMobileX (Free Internet!)) - UPDATE: Analysis 01.07.10 -> 1500 Users because someone said free internet for it and I gave it a run to see if it would work with our behold 2 and surely enough it does.
Instructions on how to use proxy:
Open up the (default) browser on your Samsung Behold.
Type in the following address into the : tmo-x.co.cc/tmobilex/
Type in the address you want to visit in the form on the page and select whether or not you want to use my HTML trick (free; allows you to see sites in full HTML not 'WAP-stripped').
After many attempts to try and use the terminal emulator that is already preloaded onto the behold 2 , and many failures..After trying out different Terminal Em.'s and always having my phone lag because they wernt made for it...i have finally found a way to get terminal emulator working with no lag or no slow down in performance... First you must have root,of course, Next, Use an app called root explorer or something similar and goto the folder /system/app/ and find the two files Term.apk and Term.odex, and MOVE them to your sd card from your phone,you want them gone from your system/app folder After that simply goto the market and search for Terminal Emulator , re-download and there you have it, Working term. em. on the behold 2.Peace Ladz.

I was succesfully able to get adb to detect my phone serial. but whenever I type in: adb shell /data/local/try3 /system/bin/sh
in the CMD, it returns with "permission denied"
Does anyone know if you can use any multitouch because any app that says it has multitouch doesn't work

I have been trying to put it back on and all I ended up doing was bending it.I got my hands on an HTC Leo Windows mobile 6.5. Best implementation of an SD card slot ever.

View 9 Replies View RelatedG1 and my Behold 2 her phone had good reception and the behold had nearly none. Half the time I don't get phone calls. They go straight to VM. My roommate's BB pearl gets double the reception mine does. My other roommate's Nokia gets even better reception. All on the T-mo network. Another friend who has a G1 same thing, he has reception I don't. Not to mention the other problems I have had. This is my 3rd Behold II by the way. Been replaced twice and back to Samsung for 3 weeks once.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter a lot of thought, I finally decided I would root my Moment even the whole bricking issue had me really worried. I decided to try it anyway. I got it all done last night well, I think I did. I never actually went into anything that verified that I had rooted it just assumed it was rooted after the instructions I was reading said it was. Well within these instructions was a link to the SDX website where I could download a custom update zip, and had a link to create my own update zip, so I chose to create my own. I'm not sure if I made some wrong choices while creating the zip or what, but now I am having some major trouble.
After creating my zip, I placed it on my SD card. Then, I shut the phone down, and started it up in recovery mode (maybe that's what it's called.... volume down, talk, and end buttons). I went to apply from SD, or something like that, and then went to the custom zip I had just downloaded. The phone did it's thing, said it was installed and then said I need to reboot. I did.
I've not been able to get into my phone since. It gets to the Samsung splash screen, finishes it's animation, and then nothing. It's just black. It won't do anything at all until I take the battery out and put it back in. Then, I am able to get to any of the startup screens or whatever they're called, but no matter what, always goes black after Samsung Splash.It could be that the phone is actually starting, but just not showing me a screen....not sure about that.Well, I read a little bit, and decided I would try to fix it by installing a different update zip, so I put my sd card into my laptop and removed the custom zip. Then, I put the SD card back into my phone and ran the joeykrim zip again. It's still doing the same thing.Has anyone got any ideas for me here?? I am so sick that I decided to do this. I sure hope it's worth it in the end.
My Samsung 46" LCD TV recognises my Nikon Coolpix camera nicely. However, when I connecgt my Droid X and go thru the same process using wiselink USB the TV displays the message, "no device connected". Anyone no how to get the TV to recognise Droid X so i can see my videos and pictures?
