Installed 1.6 w/o Twiz because the tweaked 1.6 made my BH2 stop working as a phone... runs good now, except the OEM email app is gone and now I can't get into Hotmail or my second gmail account. Can anyone help me out by posting the .apk file for the OEM email client?

I'm running warheads from bh_man first off. I just got apps2sd working tonight, but shortly afterward every app I tried to install would fail install with "installation unsuccessful". After an hour of searching, I decided to clear out the dalvik-cache. Well, I did this and I was able to install apps again. I installed two apps, and I kept getting a force-close on Titanium Backup -root version. I rebooted the phone (Behold 2), and now all of my apps are gone. I've got a bunch of default android boxes, and no working apps. I checked my sd card, and all of the .apk's are still there, but they aren't in the dalvik-cache folder anymore. What's strange is that some of the apps are there, like gstrings and quick system info, but the vast majority aren't, like handcent and beautiful widgets. I don't know what I did, but I'd really like to know how to get them all back. I tried installing handcent from the market, and it says that it can't install it on my phone, so I really need to get this fixed because I really don't want to start all over again.

BH_Man's ROMs are great and everything, but I'm a little disturbed that choices get made for me like which Home screen app to use and there's no way to even switch back - the default home screen app is gone. How can I get the default Home app back? I just want the stock system, I thought these ROMs were supposed to be lightweight stock ROMs

Since I'm still waiting on the Update myself, I've had a brief chat with my Source at Samsung & he confirmed there isn't nothing life chaning in the kernel regarding problems. All fixes was addressed mainly to the OS it's self.
The Faster I can get the System Dump of the Update, the Faster I roll out updates to the system.img for everyone..
I have not purchased the data package. Is there an app I can use to access my yahoo and aol email through wifi without using the browser?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI remembered from my G1 days a way to sync the E-Mail app up to Yahoo's free (not PoP3) servers so I gave it try on my new BH2 and it works just fine:Here are the steps:
1. Enter Yahoo ID and Password (hint, just use your "username", not the whole joeblow@yahoo.com
2. Select Manual Setup
3. Setup IMAP
4. Incoming server is imap.mail.yahoo.com
5. Port is 143
6. Security Type is "TLS (if available)"
7. Leave IMAP path prefix blank
8. Hit next
9. SMTP Server is smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
10. Port is 25
11. Security is again TLS (if available)
12. Check Require sign-in
13. Verify username and password
14. enjoy
To Sync up, you CANNOT be on WiFi (dunno why, maybe Yahoo has a deal with T-Mobile?).One other note: if after rechecking all your settings and it still says "invalid username/password" try going onto your Yahoo Account and change your "Location" to ASIA ! Weird I know, but for some reason, some people can't get this to work with US-English as their Yahoo Locale (not talking about your phone's settings here, all on Yahoo site end!).

I'm curious if it works because it synced so well to my work email, while the Galaxy stock email does not. I'm willing to try it out if anyone has the apk. I forgot to grab it before I flashed the rom and I don't want to have to re-flash to TouchWiz, grab it, and re-flash back to 1.6, especially if doesn't even work.
Also, if anyone's interested, here's a link to an Exchange email app that I got to work on the 1.6 rom, but it's not as feature rich. Exchange ActiveSync on your G1! | Nexeo.net. Pre-apologies if anyone has a problem with providing a system apk. But I did pay like $250 for this phone. Please just PM me then.
First, I'm sure some or all of these have been discussed in some way somewhere, but i've been searching and just haven't found any clear answers (probably because i'm a bad "searcher" not because they are not there)I COULD REALLY USE SOME UP TO DATE INFO ON THE FOLLOWING TOPICS: I just bought a Behold II and have been thoroughly frustrated by the following, any help is greatly appreciated:
1. Gmail - Like a lot of people I have several gmail accounts and use all of them very regularly for various reasons (business, personal, little league, etc.) With my blackberry and gmail app i was able to easily log in and out of all these accounts and stay on top of everything. Now I appear to be stuck with the first account i logged into/setup with no means of logging out and getting into another. I understand (now) that much of the OS revolves around syncing everything for productivity, but this is a REALLY BIG problem for me. If I can only use one email account this phone is definitely going back immediately. Is there a means of doing this? 1a. I really don't like the idea of anybody being able to pick up my phone and be able to immediately go through my email. If i can't log out how can i at least protect the email from access by others without having to set a password or sequence EVERY time i pick up and use the phone?
2. Without asking me, after logging into the afore mentioned gmail account the phone took all the contact information from that account and loaded it into CONTACTS. Because it's an account that i use for general use there was a lot of spam in there and various other email addresses that i don't care about and it grabbed them ALL - EVERYTHING. So now i have thousands of contacts that are just email addresses for every thing and everybody that i've ever communicated with over that email account. How can i get rid of all of these and make sure this doesn't happen again.
3. I had all my contancts on my blackberry stored on my SIM card, which is where i'd like them to stay, but it appears that contacts stored to SIM can only have one phone number attached to them so i can't add additional information like additional phone numbers, email addresses, notes, bday information, etc. Is this correct? do i have to copy all of these to the phone memory in order to use these contacts properly and take advantage of all the features? Again, i'm very sorry if i'm rehashing old wounds here, i'm just so thoroughly frustrated and since i run my business from this phone it's hurting me tremendously right now. If i need to return this and go back to blackberry i need to do it soon so i can get back to being productive.
What happens if I use adb to remove the default email application? Also, if it wont screw it completely up how would I do this lol?
I have root access and used the 1.6 ROM from microhaxo as well.
Can someone guide me to what is the best way to send picture/video to an email contact? I am currently using 1.6 tweaked v3 and the problem is if I can't send message using the message app(because can't find email contacts) but have to go through contacts (gmail)to send a picture. However when I do that, I can't attach a video. Now if I use the camera/camcorder app, while reviewing pictures the "send to" doesn't work. If i click on "default destination" and delete the emply destination I can choose between 5 options. The phone book option say "sorry!" the application has stopped unexpectedly and to force close. I can send video using the video player which is weird since doing it in the camcorder app won't work!. Seems alot of round about ways to do something which should be simple.

One thing I can't figure out is how to disable the default email viewer? I am getting 2 notifications every time a email comes in. I get one in my gmail launcher and another in the notification bar. The one in the notification bar takes me to the email viewer that is blue and black and is the one I want to turn off.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a huge issue with email. I successfully added my Google Apps email account using POP. The client does indeed download the emails, though very slowly, but the main issue I have is that as soon as I manually check for new emails or the Captivate automatically does it (I set it to 15 minutes intervals), all the emails in the inbox on the phone disappears. After much investigating, it turns out that all emails that was already downloaded prior to a reload, were sent to Trash in Gmail. So when I log in online, every message that was originally downloaded to the phone, was now found in Trash. The only workaround I have found in order to keep the emails on the phone, is to delete them instantly. That way they remain in the Deleted Messages until I manually remove them.
So my question is: does the default email client work like it should at all or should I replace it with something. And if so, with what? It's a shame that a new phone such like this have issues with such a basic task.
I would like the Gmail client to open when I tap the Email icon on the bar on the bottom the screen (the app the is preinstalled on the Captivate and located in the application list). Currently, the stock application is launched, and since this application is short to worthless, I want the Gmail client to open instead of it so that I don't need to add a short cut to it and at the same time end up with a static button that I will never use.

View 7 Replies View RelatedAlright whats up people I was recently searching through and through for a way to get mobile internet without paying that ridiculous android price so as I was searching I stumbled across a regular behold forum at Samsung Behold Forum - New Proxy (TMobileX (Free Internet!)) - UPDATE: Analysis 01.07.10 -> 1500 Users because someone said free internet for it and I gave it a run to see if it would work with our behold 2 and surely enough it does.
Instructions on how to use proxy:
Open up the (default) browser on your Samsung Behold.
Type in the following address into the : tmo-x.co.cc/tmobilex/
Type in the address you want to visit in the form on the page and select whether or not you want to use my HTML trick (free; allows you to see sites in full HTML not 'WAP-stripped').
After many attempts to try and use the terminal emulator that is already preloaded onto the behold 2 , and many failures..After trying out different Terminal Em.'s and always having my phone lag because they wernt made for it...i have finally found a way to get terminal emulator working with no lag or no slow down in performance... First you must have root,of course, Next, Use an app called root explorer or something similar and goto the folder /system/app/ and find the two files Term.apk and Term.odex, and MOVE them to your sd card from your phone,you want them gone from your system/app folder After that simply goto the market and search for Terminal Emulator , re-download and there you have it, Working term. em. on the behold 2.Peace Ladz.

I was succesfully able to get adb to detect my phone serial. but whenever I type in: adb shell /data/local/try3 /system/bin/sh
in the CMD, it returns with "permission denied"

But since I have lost the default image viewer. So without crappy mediascape I'm no longer able to click through my images, zoom and set as wallpaper. Has anyone else come across this? I am a newbie HTC Desire owner and decided to use it to send an email (which took me ages to write) and now I can't find it! I clicked on a contact link in my hotmail folder and an email editor popped up and i happily banged away until my finger mistakenly hit the home screen button and it disappeared.
I am almost sure there was a note that it had been saved somewhere but I can't find it anywhere! Any suggestions as to it's location would save me loads of time.
