View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed the lastest version of swype( did not have anything installed on this ROM).I saw the other thread was locked so I'm starting a new one I guess. Everything installed fine, but nothing happens when I swype. Manually typing works but when I swype it just shows the line makes a noise and nothing happens.

View 11 Replies View RelatedOkay so I had a problem with an app, it would never download and stay at the installing progress bar for days. I looked up the solution online and they told me to go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Market>Uninstall Updates. I did that and now I have the old version on the Market, so I don't have automatic updating and there is no "Update All" button, so I can't do that either. I tried rebooting my phone, no luck. Unrooting and rebooting, still no luck. How can I update back to the newest version?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi just discovered that in the ROM manager app you can update your clockworkmod recovery version, i updated to v2.5.0.1 and when i boot into recovery mode it looks completely different now, its a different color green, its got different options, and instead of pressing home as the ok you have to scroll down past like 7 no's to get to yes. is it supposed to be like this and should i always keep it updated? is there anything else i should always check updates for? im running froyo nightlys on a (sprint) cdma htc hero with google

View 25 Replies View RelatedMy phone is on the newest kernal as of today. 2.1-update1 and kernel version 2.6.29 Is it safe to root? What are the benefits? I'm a nerd at heart I do notice I have to kill apps running in the back ground. Anyone tell me what the benefits of rooting are? Also can I do it on my version? If so, is there a guide?
View 36 Replies View RelatedFirst of all i'm quite a n00b when it comes to rooting and everything, however back in feb when i got mt ATT n1 I decided to root cause of the cool apps that wouldnt run on non-rooted phones.I followed a step by step guide with success. Then the early 2.2 build came out and I loaded it with CM updater and it worked fine. However apps crash often and the phone seems sluggish. I want to flash to the newest release... thing is I don't know where to start.I don't mind loosing all the apps and contacts since I have everything backed up. I just want a completely clean 2.2 flash.Any idea of where to start? I saw the thread that talked about upgrading but since i'm already on 2.2 I dont know what to do.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI was trying to root my nexus one. I was able to complete unlocking the bootloader but when i used superboot to root it, i won't get pass the step where you verify to make sure superboot recognizes your device. Every time i enter fasboot-windows devices command, it just won't recognize it. I don't know what else to do.

But when I open it. Its just black and there is nothing in that file.
What did I do wrong?
Question 2. I flashed recovery image, but when I try to go to that recovery thingy. It turns to black and in few seconds there is android with "!".
just wanted to know what is the main reason behind rooting the nexus one? it seems like there's already an app for tethering so rooting is not really needed for that.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm currently on my third Eris. My first had the silent bug extremely bad and I upgraded to 2.1v3 instead of OTA, so I got a new one. The 2nd one was perfect at first; it came with 1.5 stock, but soon I found that it had a broken trackball and clearly HTC didn't fix that before shipping it to me. So after further complaining I got a 3rd Eris, which works fine although it shipped with 2.1, which I suspect is really 2.1v3 not OTA, but no definite way to check. I've recently decided I wanted to root my phone, but discovered that my HBOOT version is 1.49 which from what I read can't be rooted? My question is is it possible to a root a phone on this HBOOT version and also does this mean that I'm probably running 2.1v3?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy phone isn't rooted yet but I want to do it. I upgraded from 1.5 to 2.1 via the system upgrade that Verizon ousted out to all Eris users a few weeks ago. Here are my questions:
Is OTA = over the air?
Is my 2.1 rom the one that is referred to as 2.1 OTA?
Is there a well documented procedure out there for rooting my version 2.1 rom phone?
I have a desire I wish to root. I have version 2.1 stock and understand that unrevoked 3.14 might be the best option. Thing is I cannot find this version, it always brings up 3.21 which I don't think will work. Is there a better way to go about this? I use a mac.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI know I'm on ver2. But is it the root? When I downloaded it there was also a recovery that I did not use. Did that screw me for root? Or am I just thinking wrong? Do we know if someone is working on rooting the leak versions? I know a lot of questions. My phone works really well on ver2 and I am afraid to go to ver3 and get the crap everyone else is dealing with, but root would be nice. Now that I have had the time to learn about it and how it works.

I understand how to do it and the risks involved, but what I am not really clear on are the benefits. I know it lets me run certain applications that require root access. But which ones are really that great? I don't need to overclock it. Its fast enough and battery life is bad enough. I don't need tethering although access point capabilities might be cool to show off. So what kind of programs / capabilities would I really be seeing?
View 29 Replies View RelatedAndroid Guys are reporting that the "one click" root program is no avaliable for the N1 (Universal One-Click Root Now Available for Nexus One | AndroidGuys). Can anyone confirm that this does indeed work without unlocking your boot-loader? My N1 is currently un-rooted and I think I am finally ready to root this phone. My biggest concern has always been that I don't have a good understanding of the root process and I didn't want to mess anything up. If this program really is "one click" then it seems like it's a no brainer. If I do go through with this "one click" root can I just follow the regular instructions to install cyanogen (I would like the ability to record HD)? Also do I still need to revert to an earlier build (running FRF91) to install cyanogen?
View 9 Replies View Relatedso i have an n1 for at&t and i just got the ota update for froyo last night. today i'm trying out the default web browser to see what kinds of flash videos i can see. i already downloaded the flash player from the market. plus i went into the setting for the browser with regards to "about:debug" then changed the UAString to desktop. but for some reason when i go to a website like nbc.com to try and go watch a full episode of the office, it only loads the mobile version of the site. also when i check out the facebook page it always automatically loads the "touch" version of the site. how can i get it to default to the desktop regular full site version? can anyone tell me a way around this or a setting change other than try a different browser?
View 10 Replies View RelatedTheres not much I'm missing from stock android but wi-fi tethering would be really nice. Plus I would like to still be able to receive OTA updates that google offers. Can you root the phone and keep the stock ROM? If yes will the stock ROM still update? Is there a wi-fi tether app that doesn't require something like Cyanogen?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am considering rooting my phone because I like to tinker with things and learn new things, just for fun.Aside from learning new things, I would like to also install apps that require root permission like greenify... I'd also like to learn enough to remove crapware from my wife's gs3, but not until I learn how to do it with a level of confidence on my own phone.
I have a Nexus 4 right now, and a 5 on the way. I also have a 2012 nexus 7.Generally, how easy is to learn about rooting on a nexus? Good phone or tablet to start with? Easy to recover from mistakes?
I've just rooted my device (Nexus 5) with Chainfire auto setup and I've downloaded Superuser by Clockworkmod. When I opened it up, it showed a message saying that I needed to update the SU binary, I went back to the Play Store, I read the description and I found a link, that allows me to install it from a recovery files. Once I downloaded it I opened the app again using the recovery files, Android crashed and rebooted itself, but during the boot it showed a dead android image (the one with the red triangle). I've turned off my device (Nexus 5) and then I've reboot it, now all works fine. I'm terribly scared, what the hell happened? It's my fault or Superuser just crashed?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get an html5 demo page working on Android 2.1, have tried both droid and nexus one with 2.1 but they only display the poster image, and do not play the video. Pressing on the video does not do anything. Resolved with the onclick handler on the video tag. Is it possible to use html5 video in the android 2.1 browser at this time? My demo page is working for both the iphone and the ipad.
The mp4 video: avc1, 29.97 fps, 380 kbps, 480 x 370
Audio: mp4a, 44 kHz, 64 kbps
Here's how the page is written:

So how do you, if possible, revert back to the previous android build? Non-rooted here... Getting lag, lag, and more lag with kitkat, sooo not happy!!!
