I can no longer broadcast wi-fi. It says 'error' under 'portable wi-fi hotspot, the checkmark does not appear, and it will not allow me to access settings.
Admittedly, this may be my fault, as it happened when I changed my ssid to something stupid.. with punctuation.

Has anyone else notice the slow tethering speed on Froyo (FRF91)?I ran speedtest on 3 devices while tethering is turned. Here are the result:Nexus One (the tethering host device): 2Mbit/s down, 600Kbit up.My laptop on WIN 7 (connect to the hotspot): 200Kbit/s D, 600Kbit up Ipad (connected to the hotspot): 400Kb down, 600Kb up.The slow speed really annoys me. Even youtube is not watchable at the lowest quality setting. However, the upload speed is actually stay unaffected in all 3 situations, which made me think somehow the speed is controlled by Froyo.
View 8 Replies View RelatedFirst of all i got the Nexus 1, with stock 2.2 FRF91. my phone has an internet connection by itself (i always have the 3g icon and ability to browse the net at all times - both with or without the hotspot on). i also have a laptop running win7 32bit which connects to my wireless router with no problem. i tried setting up wifi hotspot on my nexus (both opened and secured - same result) then connecting with my laptop, it connects fine but then win says it has no internet connection (also when opening the "network and sharing center" it shows that the connection between the laptop and phone is ok, but phone-internet is broken). also, im not sure if that is related, but i tried connecting the desktop computer (win7 32bit) with usb tethering. my desktop has the nexus drivers installed (i am using adb commands here and there with no problem) again, it is connected and the pc is saying something about a "remote internet device" but no internet connection!

View 38 Replies View RelatedI have an interesting problem I just can't seem to get through. I hung out yesterday in the IRC during office hours in hopes to find someone, but I guess the Google guys are swamped and couldn't make it.
We have an app that we have tested successfully across 10 different devices on 4 different networks without a problem. However, our app will not work on ANY Nexus One devices, tested across 4 different carriers. The work flow is like this:
1. Via the browser, visit a URL to download the apk file OTA.
2. Install app. App shows up on the device.
3. Click the icon to run the app. An error occurs saying "Application is not installed on your phone"
At this point, we can see the app is trying to run. LogCat shows the following interesting bit:
CODE:...........
The funny thing is, I have android.permission.INTERNET use-permission in the manifest, and no other devices seem to have a problem with the permissions set there.
WHY this behaviour is isolated to Nexus One devices?
On my Nexus One I keep getting "Low on space: Phone storage space is getting low" errors whenever my phone storage gets kind of low. Worst of all its preventing me from receiving text messages, yet I still have 7 MBs left. I only have a moderate amount of apps, roughly 60-70, and I use all of them. Furthermore, all the apps than can be stored on the SD card (like 1 in 10) are. Looking through the threads here and everywhere else people seem to suggest the following options:
1) Delete uneeded apps (I've done this)
2) Root your phone and install an app that forces your apps onto the SD card (I don't want to root my phone and frankly shouldn't have to)
3) Clear the cache in your browser (Done)
4) Delete text messages (I mean really, do I have 10 trillion texts on my phone taking up space, of course not)
Do I effectively have an app limit on my device if I want it to function properly? Right now my apps won't update either and I constantly have the error.
Anyone else having this problem? The only way I know to fix it is a reboot.
View 14 Replies View RelatedGizmo5/GV/Sipdroid calls were working fine yesterday over both WiFi and 3g but today for some reason whenever I make an outbound call through my N1 it dials but I hear nothing and sipdroid hangs up after 22 seconds. Inbound calls are fine and when I initiate calls to phone #'s through Google Voice on my computer it comes through on my N1 where I can pick up fine and I can hear it. Complete opposite though when making outbound calls - no sound/hangup at 22 seconds.

View 14 Replies View RelatedRunning a Galaxy Nexus on Stock 4.1.1 (rooted).Last week, Play Store randomly started giving me the DF-BPA-09 Error when I wanted to download new apps. Old apps would update fine. I searched XDA and found that turning Google Sync Off and restarting the phone solved it. It worked once or twice, but the problem kept coming back.
Then read another thread that said go to All Apps > Play Store >Uninstall Updates and Clear Data. I did this, and now when I start Play Store, it permenantly gives me 'Server Error', with a Retry Button below it.I have Titanium Backup Pro, so tried restoring an older version, tried Freezing and Unfreezing the App, still not working.
DF-BPA-09 Error used to come, Cleared Play Store Data and now stuck at Server Error.
If I try to download an app from the Play Store on a browser, my Nexus 4 says "[app name] could not be downloaded due to an error (906)". However, I can download the app directly from the Play Store on my phone. So, how would I go about resolving this?

"Error: Server Error The server encountered an error and could not complete your request. If the problem persists, please report your problem and mention this error message and the query that caused it."
Anyone else have this issue when using Appbrain on their pc?
Well, It looks like I solved the problem. I just deleted my account and created it again and it's fixed (for now).
I'm using Android 2.2 on my HTC Desire.I noticed that when I have 3G Watchdog installed and running, I cannot connect to mobile network (3G/Edge) when I turn on Wi-fi Hotspot.But everything works fine if I uninstall 3G Watchdog. Anyone else have the same problem?Any good alternatives out there to 3G Watchdog?

I want to be able to put in my zip code or have it pull from my gps where I am and then tell me where the nearest wifi spots are. I used to have an awesome app on my Blackberry. It was user driven--as in we could add hot-spots and rate them. Jii Wire is trying. Their Iphone app works awesome . . their Android app . . well it stinks! Given it is a new app and hopefully they will continue to make it better but seems rather slow in coming. Google places has a wifi finder but unfortunately there are too many morons that don't get how important is to have their business listing be correct--if they have claimed it you can't even add it for them.

I have jail broken iphone as well as a jail broken Ipad that does the job right now. It really makes the devices worth owning I use my ipad for everything now. I know this can be done if the phone is rooted, or whatever you call it, but isn't there an app that I can download and make it work without needing to hack the phone? I know PDA net works pretty well, but that's not quite what I'm looking for. You have to connect the phone to the computer via USB or bluetooth, and it gets on the internet through there. I want to be able to have multiple devices quickly and easily jump on the Androids connection.
I'm getting a galaxy s3 very soon and I'm thinking about getting a nexus 7 with it.But as you know,nexus 7 doesn't have 3G so my only option to access network on it when there's no wifi network available is to use my future s3 as a wifi hotspot.So my questions are:
1-Is data consumption when using the phone as a wifi hotspot the same as if I'm normally using 3G on the phone itself ?
2-How long can an android(specifically the S3 if it matters much) act as a wifi hotspot before the battery runs out ?
The error "error parsing XML: unbound prefix" shows up on my main layout: main.xml when I first open Eclipse. To make the error go away, all I have to do is make a modification to the file, then undo it, then hit save (have to make a change in order to be able to save file and thus trigger the new syntax check).
My environment is:
Fedora Eclipse Platform
Version: 3.4.2
Based on build id: 20090211-1700
My target is Android API level 5.
The first time I saw the error I spent a long time trying to track down "the problem" but later realized there isn't really a problem, it's just a phantom error.

I downloaded and have been reading the Android 2.2 user's guide. I wanted to get a better idea about Froyo. Anyway, it says that the phone can tether to one computer [was doing that under 2.1] and also become a hot spot. But when I follow their directions, this is not possible on my phone. Read a little online and some are saying it is possible, while others are saying it is not. What is the answer? Is there an app that I need to have?
