So i have the free sneoid on my Droid. if I want to upgrade to the paid do I have to uninstall the free one first? or just install the paid? will the paid install over the free?

I currently have BB 0.9 and i want to upgrade to NexBeast 1.0. So my understanding is that NexBeast is based off of BB1.0. Does that mean I can upgrade to nexbeast 1.0 from BB 0.9? How is this different from installing a new rom? I have also never tried to upgrade from one build to the next, how would i go about doing this?

My upgrade date isn't until next year, if i call CS is there anychance they will allow me to upgrade at the $199 price or am I SOL? and if they do and i order it over the phone can I have them just add the cost to my next bill or will i have to pay over the phone? I've actually never upgraded my phone before, the first real cellphone i bought on my own was the iPhone 3G and didn't upgrade to the 3GS because it was crap and ended up switching to Verizon and the Droid when it was released...
I don't think this has been asked before in this forum, but if it has, I apologize for repeating... Just like many of you probably are, I am in need of more storage. 14 GB is evaporating fast, and I'm not sure the SD card is upgradable yet. I don't fully understand exactly what an SD card does besides provide storage (ie: does it function as a hard drive, etc). Basically, how are those who are upgrading their SD cards doing so without having to reload all your apps, re-buying apps you paid for, and having to otherwise completely set up your Droid all over again from scratch?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI got fed up with my music player constantly skipping/phone lag on my Eris and got a VZW manager to approve a early upgrade for me. I was thinking should I go with the Droid X? I wanted some current owner's opinions before I drop $200 on it.Currently I mainly use my phone for:
1. Texting- I send hundreds of texts a day.
2. Web Surfing- I spend a lot of time on-line google, news..etc
3. Picture taking- I love to snap photos of friends and travels.
4. Talking- I maybe use 500 min a month if that. I text a lot due to working in a call center.
5. Mp3 player- i use my phone in the car and at work so i can have good music rather than the crap work plays on the speakers to listen to.
Considering these points do you think it would be wise to choose the X?All input is welcome and appreciated.
Can anyone help me?!!! I desperately need to upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 on my droidx!

Thought i'd post here since i know alot of you tried to switch out your order for the droid x.Waited since june 4th for my incredible to get here by my promised ship date of 6/25. 6/25 passed and while calling to bitch about the wait, they said i could swap out my order for a droid x. That i could just have them cancel my incredible order and preorder the x. I did it. She said she didn't have a confirmation number for my preorder or anything but that she would text it to me the next day (this was sunday, so the text would've come monday). Well, it never came. So i called verizon last night to confirm my preorder of the x and they said they saw it in the system and all was good.
Just a few minutes ago i got an email saying my droid incredible has finally shipped. WTF?! The incredible was all i could think about for weeks and weeks and it didn't ship. Now that i have another phone in mind, it finally decides to ship? So i call 611 and she tells me i can reject the shipment, BUT...that "the other reps that told me i had a preorder for the x were wrong. I don't. Because nobody can preorder the x from verizon and that i'd have to wait until it's release on july 15th to order it."what the hell is going on? I'm gonna call verizon back a couple more times and see if i get different answers. But really, their inconsistencies are giving me a headache
I have been reading about different ROMs, kernals and themes that have been posted on this site and they all sound very interesting and I have finally decided on what I would like to try first. I used the directions from here to force install the latest Froyo which is awesome and the directions were very nice. So I am hoping to get some guidance for my next adventure with my phone.
I want to install the newest version of Liquid Frozen Yogurt with the Tangerine theme along with one of Slayhers kernals. What all apps do I need to install the above items? And I know the instructions are all out there on how but could someone either point me to the specific ones that I need or paste them here for me? I am doing this to a Moto Droid.
I recently rooted and installed sirpsychos 99.1 recovery console. However I need to upgrade to 99.2b since thats the one most current ROMS need to run. How is this possible? I was not able to find a tutorial for upgrading the recovery console.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI picked up my Droid 2 this past Saturday, and immediately ordered a 16GB Transcend Class 6 micro SD card for it. To install it, I plugged my Droid into my PC (Linux machine), un-hid all the hidden files, copied them to my desktop, then disconnected the Droid, took the stock card out, plugged the new card in, and copied the files back. After a reboot of the Droid, everything seemed OK.The problems started while copying songs onto the Droid. The copy process froze, and ever since, the phone had problems with this card. It's sluggish, and hangs on shut-down.Is there a proper way to upgrade to a new card that I don't know about? The guys at the Verizon store didn't have any ideas.

Is there a way to wait for one of the android sites to get the latest version, download it and do the upgrade myself? If I have to roll it back, what is the best way to do it?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI currently found out, that my Application developed for Android 1.6 does not work on Android 2.2. I'm quite puzzled about this, because its a very simple Application which almost does nothing. The Expeption I get is like that:
java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to instantiate application [packagename].AndApp:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: [packagename].AndApp in loader
dalvik.system.PathClassLoader[/data/app-private/[packagename]-1.apk]
The weirdest part is, that the Class it is searching for here does not exist and never has. The app itself does nothing than show some text in a textview. In Android 1.6 I dont get this problem and I cant see a reason, it event works in 2.1. The Manifest looks like that:

I have installed PC Companion but every 2-3 days it announce me a new update for my phone X10mini.Is it possible to know which bugs are fixed in each update before proceeding ?Is there a way to save all data before upgrading and restore after upgrading ? I'm back on the forums, FINALLY! I finally got fed-up with dealing with Verizon and their rediculas prices. I had 2 phones on my 700 Family Share plan and it was nearly $160 with NO extra features. Just phone. Not internet, no texts, basic NON3G phone.. Looked into other carrirers and found Sprint... What is that? It's HUGE!... It's the EVO 4G. I'M THERE! I am spending the same each month as I was with verizon, with a Smartphone plan. I love it!

I had to make a choice between my Droid Eris and purchasing a vehicle for the future. Of course, the vehicle won; so I no longer have the Eris *pout*. I hope everyone has fun with the future updates and conversations regarding the Eris and 2.x updates. I thank everyone that has helped me out and the 50+ who thanked for this Thread.
My phone just doesn't want to consistently make calls (audio problem - either i can't hear the other party or they can't hear me) and I am pretty sure it's my phone as I don't hear about that happening much here. It's gotten twice as bad since upgrading to 2.1. I hate the idea of a refurb but I might have no choice. Just wondering if I might still have a chance of getting a new handset. For those who have definitely gotten like-new handsets, what condition was it in?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI used to face reboots when my X10 was still on 1.6, but I was ok with them since they happened on certain apps and not that frequent.
After upgrading to android 2.1, my phone never stops rebooting. The first reboot occurred when I was using Backup and Restore app to restore my contact, SMS .... I have not even downloaded or set up any application.
Then the reboot started to happen whenever I turn on my Wifi. Now whenever I am using my phone it reboots, during calls, searching contacts, installing and playing games. I tried re-installing Android 2.1 several times using PC companion and Sony Ericsson Update Service, but no use. Always the first reboot after a fresh install will be when I am restoring my data.
I like the phone and was waiting for android 2.1 since September, and this is what I get, a useless phone where I can barely place a call. I am really disappointed and frustrated.
Anybody facing such issues or know how to fix it or what is the reason behind the restarts?
For those of you who have now gotten your phones and upgraded from another android phone - did you sign in to the market/configure the phone with same Gmail account? And what I really want to know - did your previously installed apps (both free and paid) automatically download?

I think that may be happening to me. They don't open up on the screen but lets say I kill all the running apps with taskiller or advanced task killer, and then I open up either task manager and bam, there is a whole bunch or crap running without me actually opening anything up.

Well I recently installed Nexfro. I like it a lot. No complaints Fabulous did a great job. However the 2.2 messaging app. I can't stand it and I loved the 2.1 messaging app (enough to just go back to 2.1 if I can't get it) so I was wondering if anyone could give me the .apk file so I could manually install it on my droid. Please and thanks . I'd do this myself, but I don't know how.
