How does everyone keep track of the lastest roms and recoveries? Seems I can't find just one place to keep track of say Adamz roms or sprecovery? Can you point a noob in the right direction.

Whats the difference between a 2.0.1 ROM and 2.1 ROM?
I've been rooted for awhile and always stuck with either AdamZ ROM or Pete's Bugless Beast and they were all based off of 2.0.1. Is there something special I need to do in order to run a ROM based off of 2.1?
Amon backups are around 180 megs. I was wondering why the hell it was taking so long to transfer the clockwork recovery to my computer. its 750 megs! For the backup of the same phone state as the 180 meg one!
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm new to this whole thing but I do have experience flashing other mobile devices in the past. Before I get flamed for this post let me just say that I have been reading possible fixes for this phone for a week straight. I've probably clocked in about 30 hours and I really wanna throw this phone against a wall.So here's the story:I got my Ally a week ago and rooted it using androot and everything went fine. The phone was rooted could install apps using Astro and everything. The problem is that I also wanna overclock this phone because I've read some pretty cool results. So I know I need to load in Velocity (or at least it's the most recommended), so I used ROM manager to install clockwork, tried to boot into the recovery and the phone just stayed stuck on the LG screen.(yes I checked the box to wipe data, cache and make a backup) After doing more research I find out that there is another recovery made by drellisdee and that it is also in rom manager so I try flashing that recovery and the same thing happens I get stuck on the LG screen. (The only way I can get out of this screen is by battery pulling).
After this didn't work I wiped my SD card in hopes of starting over, but when my phone rebooted suddenly now I have no internet access through verizon(still have wifi). So now my so called smart phone has become nothing more than a phone with wifi. I really need some help here, I've genuinely tried fixing it myself but nothing seems to work.I really hope I didn't just ruin my phone. Update: Just tried to make a call with my phone and it forwards me to a verizon wireless thing asking me to put in my credit card to make a collect call. Did I just get banned?
How can I tell or where can I go to make sure the pictures I take with my Droid X have the date and time on it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have come to the conclusion that vzw aborted the ota on the 1st 2.2, and not many people have gotten it. It seems at least on this forum that everyone has 2.2 via a forced update. Very few people have chimed in that they got a ota.However, given that vzw is releasing the droid2 on Thu the 12th, I would think that this is going to have the newest froyo, not the version released ota that everyone forced with. Correct thinking?
If that is also true, then shouldn't we be seing something coming out ota for us 2.1 droid 1 users very shortly? anyone have any dates?
I've heard that this should be coming to Verizon before Thanksgiving? Is there anything to support this? My contract is currently up and I'm wanting to get an Android phone (and this one looked cool) but I don't want to wait too long if it isn't going to be available reasonably soon. The "More" option only expands to Notes, Nickname & Website. I believe I've seen that Sense UI on the HTC devices allows Date entry/edit in Contacts, but I'm not seeing in stock Android 2.1 on my Droid. Surprised Dates can only be entered & maintained on the desktop.

I have a website which interfaces with the main dispatch server at Fujitsu Transaction Solutions. I wanted a phone that would let me go to that website and post dates and times for jobs to which I have been dispatched. Unfortunately, on the Android browser, the date and time fields are each 1 space short of being able to hold dates and times, i.e. the time fields are 3 spaces, but I need to put in, say, 1800 for 6 pm. Follow? It is hard to explain.
There is what I think is a Java applet that lets you select a date by clicking on a little calendar icon. I am sure you have seen these on travel websites. This icon does not show up on the Android browser. I checked the Android browser's Java compatibility, and it passed. I tried the 1nternet and Opera browsers, as well. 1nternet has the same issue, and Opera apparently does not work with Android 2.0, yet. I couldn't go to any typed-in URL with Opera.
Is there a way to get the lock screen time and date widget (or one that looks like that) on the home screen? I like the clarity and simplicity. The standard home screen widget is so ugly.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my Droid since February and have it rooted. I've been using Smoked Glass v6.0.1 ROM and now I'm ready to change things up. I have ROM manager premium but I'm too overwhelmed by all the choices. I've been trying to research the different ROMs out there but there are too many.
Can we make a list here of what ROMs do what? For instance I've read Bugless Beast is great for speed but Ultimate Droid is better if you want looks and don't care about speed. Don't even get me started on CyanogenMod. There are way to many options with that one.
In here you can put what rom you are running and all the info, OC range kernels all that, and a screen shot of the main home screen. and you can discuss on which one is better. what one has that the other doesn't and etc.... i like talking about all that for some reason.
I'm running CYANOGEN MOD 5.0.5 W/ 24K THEME AND OC RANGE OF 1000-800MHZ. I have in the past run simmply stunning and smoked glass and droid mod and the desire build roms. i find cyanogen to be the smoothest and most customizable to me. I also like the updater its all very easy to use.
cons: i dont like clockwork recovery, im use to SPRecovery.
All in all CYANOGEN MOD IS THE BEST TO ME.
Can you make voice calls with BT using 2.1 ROMS? Or does that feature still not exist?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI rooted my X with the androot, downloaded all of the apps that was in the app list to get once rooted, downloaded FlyX and installed, however once the phone restarted, stuck on the big M luckily i had a backup ready to go so i restored the phone, last night however i wasnt so lucky, i tried the new 2.3 update, and well lets say big M for 30 mins til i was able to flash it back to stock. i know i am doing these steps the correct way, i make a backup each time, and i check the cache data.
