I've had unaccountable SD card memory loss since the update. Is it the upgrade or one of the apps I've downloaded since then. It seems to happen when I use picsaypro and an online animator even if I don't save anything.

Ever since the 2.1 OTA update that I received back in July, my phone has been burning through the battery quickly and places that I usually get a 3G signal I now get no signal and the big X in the signal bar.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI know about the ROM memory leak when you shut off the phone while BT is trying to connect, but I havent seen anyone talking about loss of RAM. you get it back after the phone is rebooted, but I noticed with taskpanel x and now with auto task killer. (I did a factory reset and attempted to use the phone w/o a task manager/killer and it was unbearable) I start the phone and had about 97 in the beginning with taskpanel x, everytime it would "kill all" the available memory would be lower, eventually in the 50's with everything killed and Id restart the phone and then Id be back in the 90's. now with auto task killer Im looking at 54.4 available when I wake the phone up, just restarted it and I have 76. does anyone else have this problem? I was hoping the 2.0 release would also come with a fix for this, but with noone talking about it, Im assuming its not being worked on, maybe its just my phone...

View 8 Replies View RelatedIve had an HTC G1 and I now have the Samsung Behold II. Theres a problem I've noticed on both phones. Lets say I have 60mb of flash memory and I download an app that is 5mb. That would put me down to 55 if my 2nd grade math serves me correctly. Now if I were to uninstall this app, my phone will only go back up to 58mb. Even after restarting the phone 10 times, taking the battery out or doing whatever, it remains at 58mb of memory.
I want to know why does this happen? And is there any way to recover that lost storage? I just find it a bit crappy management of memory. Because this problem can be more drastic, I downloaded a 20mb app which sucked balls, to which I quickly uninstalled. I only got 12mb of the 20 back. Thats 8mb lost somewhere. Again, I'm looking for at the very least an explanation
Can you randomly look at your SD card from the phone? Can you put regular files(like excel files) on the SD and access them with the phone? I've tried with no success. I was able to put the file on the card but had no way to get to ou it..
View 4 Replies View RelatedAs I did some research I found out, and correct me if I am wrong, that most of the applications that we download on the Droid go against the internal memory, and that the applications are not being loaded onto the memory card. I move to the Droid from Blackberry for this sole reason, thinking the Droid had it the opposite way, that the applications were being loaded on the memory card, and not the internal memory. This concept of loading the programs onto the internal memory, was putting a hurt on my Blackberry, where I had to give up programs in order for it to run faster. I am now concerned after finding out that the Droid has the same concept, that this will eventually happen with my Droid, and that I may have to give up programs for it to run fater as well. If this is true to what I am saying, that the applications are on the internal memory and eating away on it, then I am hoping someone would develop a program where as we can take our progams and move them over to the memory card so that it will free up the internal memory, other wise I am off to seek aphone that runs windows, I do belive they do have this concept that I want. I should have done my homework!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm upgrading from my Droid 1 to the Droid X tomorrow and would like to start my use of the DX with it's new 32gb card in place of my old 16gb card from my Droid 1 but need to know if there's anything required to copy from my droid 1 16gb card to my new DX 32 gb card that would be required or helpful in the DX use.I will obviously transfer music/vids/pics but are there any essential files, apps, etc. that are needed.Or is it a good idea to use my paid MyBackupPro to copy the old Droid 1 apps/data for use in the DX larger memory card or is this not copatible to perform between the 2 devices?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I install my application with Eclipse ADT (by simply run and choose device that appears in the list) through USB onto device, sometimes I noticed it consumes internal memory (storage) space even though application is already loaded on the device (exactly same version - just some minor code changes)As my application size getting big, this is really annoying because eventually it will use up all initial storage space of ~70MB and I have to factory reset in order for me to continue testing my application on real device.I did little investigation and find out this seems to happen when
1) load/run application onto device for first time with USB
2) disconnect USB
3) restart Eclipse
4) connect device and try to load/run application onto device
5) internal memory goes down by application size ...
and it does NOT seem to happen as long as I keep USB connection and Eclipse still recognize the device. I'm just guessing here, but maybe does Eclipse ADT creates temporary file of some kind that's get left behind when I disconnect USB? I'm running RC30 so I don't have root access and can't check system files/folders but is there any way to look for these temp files (if any) and clear out either from Eclipse, or using adb shell command?So for now, I leave my device connected to Eclipse all the time but I want to use it as phone as well as sometimes I want to show to my friends to get some feedback etc it would be really nice if I can somehow load application onto device, disconnect and keep testing/using phone.Has anyone experience this issue? If so, is there any walk around to this problem? Or could you point me out what I'm doing wrong here? I tried few things myself, such as close Eclipse right after I launch my application on device, disconnect USB etc but nothing seem to work.
So, the moron at the Verizon store who was activating my replacement Droid decided to import or retrieve contact data from my broken droid / SD card....he didn't know that it handled all the contacts from the cloud. As soon as I entered my gmail login it imported all my contacts and so, now I have contacts with duplicate data and some contacts that are now just phone numbers. I tried deleting the contact data and resyncing but it appears to be grabbing this duplicate data from somewhere. All my contacts are CLEAN in gmail when viewed online. But if I look on the phone, when go to edit them each person has 1 contact with multiple google contacts merged together. The problem is, any time I go to search contacts or enter a contact in email or create a contact shortcut, all of them are appearing twice in the selection list.
I went through each contact and split the merges, essentially deleting the dupes, but they are still appearing multiple times in the search/selection lists....and when I resync the dupes come back. I don't see anything that looks like contact data/backup on the SD card and don't know if that is something that can be deleted from the phone's memory or not?
[I know I can deleted all the dupes, but my concern is that I did this already and they came back. Is this data stored anywhere else that it might be pulling it from again when I sync?]
when I opened Handcent SMS on my phone, it came up with a white screen that I had assumed was just a bug, but after sending a text message,I realized that all of my previous messages had been lost or deleted for some reason. Absolutely nothing happened between last night and this morning that would have led me to expect such a result, and as you can imagine I'm pretty upset about the data loss. If you have any suggestions for steps to take, I would sincerely appreciate them. My phone is not rooted or anything of the sort if that changes anything. Also, I've been using SMS backup to back up to my gmail, but there are some longer texts that Handcent converts to MMS that were not backed up.

View 5 Replies View RelatedLately I have noticed that when I go to use the web browser on my droid the browser hangs and I get a page cannot be viewed message. I always assumed it was the browser as the vpn to work is still connected. I recently downloaded weather bug and have noticed that when I can't view a web page I also loose all weather access. (vpn still shows connected) If I shut down my phone and restart it things work great.

Sapphire 7.0 was released, so what the heck, I formatted system/cache, and installed.
But...lost root somehow. No SU app, no access.
Applied su.zip in Recovery to regain access. Didn't work...
Applied it a few more times, rebooted...nada.
Wiped system/cache and installed CM6 Alpha 3...no root. Applied su.zip, still no su app, no root.
Nandroided back to my backup of Pete's virgin 2.2 release. Root.
Wiped system/cache, installed CM6 Alpha 3, no root.
W-T-F?
Never seen this before...always wipe system/cache before a new ROM, never lost root before.
Really appreciate any suggestions...I have access to CW recovery.
Don't understand how flashing a rooted ROM could leave me w/out root access, or why installing an su zip doesn't add SU back in.
I did a factory reset 2 weeks ago, because when I uninstalled launcher pro, my dx went black. reboots did not help. Since that factory reset, everything has appeared to be fine though. I just read the big read stickied warning, and figured I better ask about the potential issue.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought one of the $4 batteries from Amazon. I dropped the Droid from several low levels at several angles and it never rebooted. Clearly the original battery was just slightly smaller dimensionally to allow a brief but significant loss of contact with the Droid. Verizon did send me a "refurb" but I send it back with a note that it was unacceptable to send a phone which at one time had someone else's problems in it as a replacement. I'm so very glad I did.
