The screen portion clipon has snapped on me in the top right corner don't know how the hell it happened but it did. Guess my Droid has to go naked now as I feel weird having only the back portion on it. Not sure what I should do really. I bought it on Amazon it was delivered around September 24th to the 29th so it hasn't even been on my phone a whole damn month and it's busted.

So, I want to make an app that uses only some portion of screen, while the rest portion can be used by user.
For example, if a user open app through Home Screen Shortcut, app may cover 25% of height while rest 75% will be covered by home screen such that user can use both apps and home screen. Same applies to other scenarios.
I am actually trying to create a custom notification panel, hence want my panel to hide the original one.
I returned my HTC hero after a week because it had a dead pixel, but I also noticed dust under the lower portion of the screen right above the buttons on bottom. I use a otterbox commuter case while has covers for the dock and head phone jack, so Im assuming the dust came in between the buttons and the bottom of the screen.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI broke the screen on my droid mini. I bought a replacement digitizer/screen combo off ebay that doesn't seem to be working even though installation is correct. I can power on the phone, but it's really weird. There's no display and it just vibrates once. About every minute it vibrates 1 time again.
Secondly, my PC won't recognize the phone now. I was going to try to transfer my photos to the PC so I could call insurance as a last resort. I have around 800 photos on there that I want to get off. NOTE, MY SCREEN DOESN'T WORK so I can't change modes on the phone.
I'm temporarily using an old phone, at least need getting the photos off the phone.
I bought and installed a new screen (digitizer) in my Eris. The install went very well but now the proximity sensor doesn't seem to work properly. Most times when I place a call the screens goes blank and won't respond to any button inputs, Once the other party hangs up I get the screen back. But even this is erratic at times, not often, with the screen staying on all the time.
I installed Screebl Lite to force the screen on all the time and it works most of the time but seems to have a hard time figuring out the proximity sensor too.
Is there something I could have done to screw up the sensor when I took the phone apart? Everything else is working fine.
Just wandering if anyone has made a micro usb or bluetooth clipon type of controller for gaming on the g1?

It worked fine yesterday but for some reason it just crapped out on me. I think my recovery is broken, i tried almost all the options it says to do if you have a broken recovery such as clear download cache, install past recoveries, install alternative recoveries, etc, nothing seems to be working. I also have a constant spinning circle within rom manager as if its trying to comlete some task. I would really like to flash a new rom but im stuck , any help would be very much appreciated.I guess i got so used to rom manager doing everything for me that i need to learn alternatives.

When I open Gallery, it immediately closes (it never displays any photos or thumbnails).
CAUSE:
I added some .nomedia files to my SD card (to hide album art from showing up in Gallery), and that's when Gallery refused to open. It just immediately closes/disappears anytime I try and open Gallery.
SOLUTIONS ATTEMPTED:
I'm trying to avoid a factory reset if possible. Here's what I have tried so far:
Cleared data/cache for Gallery app (at Settings>applications>manage applications>menu button>filter>all>gallery>clear data and clear cache). Problem still persists. I tried to repeat this, and now the Clear Data and Clear Cache buttons are both grayed out even after I force close Gallery.
Removed the files under: SD CardAndroiddatacom.android.providers.mediaalbu mthumbs
Removed SD CardDCIM.thumbnails directory
Removed all photos from the gallery and see if it still crashes. I manually deleted the DCIM folder, and snapped a couple test photos to force the recreation of the DCIM folder. I can view Camera Roll from the camera app, but Gallery still refuses to open.
I have also booted to recovery mode and noticed the following error: "E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command" From recovery, I used the "Wipe cache partition" utility, rebooted, and Gallery still won't open.
What else can I try? I'm at a loss here. I see a file called "thumbnailScale.trace" but am afraid to delete that.
Before 2.2 upgrade, under contacts/menu "display groups" would present me with a list of contact groups (all, phone, google) with a header of "show".Now I just get the "show" header and no list of groups.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a X that has 2.1 -update 1 on it that I got from a friend. I want to have 2.2 on it but when I try to update the phone OTA, it says that I am up to date. So I am guessing that are some things he played with that is making this not work.What I am hoping I can acomplish is get stock 2.2 on my X even if it involves RSD lite or other methods.RSD was the way I was going to go, untill I ran into the problem that the camera button does not work, so i can not get into the bootloader.Also, adb reboot bootloader isn't working, and rooting and trying to get Clockwork Recovery to work isn't doing what I need.So I am out of ideas on how to get 2.2 or any other ROM for that matter on my X.

For some reason the weather portion of the News and Weather app has stopped working (I believe this started yesterday). The app simply says "Sorry, weather currently unavailable." My Beautiful Widgets weather is just fine. Has this happened to anyone else?
i've been a (mostly) happy user of the milestone, as it is called over here, but in the past few days i noticed a problem.the compass in the phone is not only off, but virtually broken. it detects a constant reading "to the upper left", which simply overrides the earth's magnetic field. so, no matter how i turn the phone, north is always between one and two o'clock. by using the amazin tricorder app, i was able to find out that the magnitude of the reading differs significantly depending on the orientation of the phone, reaching almost "100" in the max, and about "65" when the phone is 18o turned. so i cleverly deduced that the magnetic flux sensors are still somehow active; but still, they turn out to be useless to me if they show a constant reading no matter.

Tried a hard reset and restarting the phone, didn't help. I also cleaned the lens and made sure my fingers were not in the way. The flash does go off each time.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just wanted to offer a little information for those who may have cracked screens.I left my EVO on my bumper a few weeks ago. I realized about an hour later I didn't have it. Someone picked it up off of the busy highway and dropped if off at my shop. It had been rolled over numerous times and the screen was completetly shattered. With the help of this site, I found instructions on changing the LCD/Glass and ebay links on where to get it. I got a great deal on ebay, $79 for the lcd/glass complete. Was brand new in the packing. Bought the tools (listed in the instructions found on this site) at the local hardware store, put the lcd/glass on, and the phone works PERFECT! I am very glad. First off I didn't have insurance, and second, this has been the first phone in a while that I have had zero issues with and really like everything about it (coming from numerous blackberries).So basically, thanks for the help, and now we know the phone can take a few cars running over it and the board, battery, back, etc. held up great.It had a best buy case (appears same as seidio innocase) and Zagg screen protector on it.I have my original phone back, no scratches, spent $79 (less than the deductible even if I had insurance), and its a done deal.

I managed to backup the files that I can see as "mass media storage" from the phone, the contacts are synced with Google account, but couldn't back up the SMS. Is there a way to access the android phone with PC? I'm trying screencast 0.4 but it looks like it requires "rooted" phone, which my phone is not.
