And does it work? I just want to root and overclock the stock Android OS.
I used the the Lagfix app to "root" my captivate. so i'm wondering what's the difference between doing it this way vs. doing it through a computer or some other way? Also, how can install non-market apps now? Well I know how, but what's the easiest way to do it? is the an app market I can get?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAndroid Guys are reporting that the "one click" root program is no avaliable for the N1 (Universal One-Click Root Now Available for Nexus One | AndroidGuys). Can anyone confirm that this does indeed work without unlocking your boot-loader? My N1 is currently un-rooted and I think I am finally ready to root this phone. My biggest concern has always been that I don't have a good understanding of the root process and I didn't want to mess anything up. If this program really is "one click" then it seems like it's a no brainer. If I do go through with this "one click" root can I just follow the regular instructions to install cyanogen (I would like the ability to record HD)? Also do I still need to revert to an earlier build (running FRF91) to install cyanogen?

I followed everything from the [HOWTO] Root the Atrix 2 thread and i tried both 1 click method and the manual method. When I type in
---> adb shell (only type this if you are no longer in shell@targa)
---> mount -o rw,remount /dev/null /system
in the cmd, shell not found and Segmentation fault came out.

View 8 Replies View RelatedDownload and use a program called Android Central Sideload Wonder Machine. It's a one click solution, works amazingly on the Captivate and requires no hassle. The program claims to work on un-rooted phones (though mine is rooted). My girlfriend's Captivate is not rooted though so I will test this out on her phone as well to confirm it. Check it out though. I've already gone to town with this and it works great.

When I click the notification it brings me to the email, but the notification remains at the top of the bar until I click it again, which brings me to my inbox. This is not really a big issue, it just kind of gets annoying clicking every email twice. Any solutions?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe need one click root for the droid! I know it's pretty easy already to root, but the one click root installs the nandroid and all the other stuff that scares people off (including me) to root. That would increase the DROID rooting community by so much I think. A developer should create a one click root apk. right before android 2.1 where it roots your DROID (like it did for the G1 and others) and installs all the necessary stuff along with you just having to then install the ROM right after. I don't know, it is just a thought. That is what made the G1 and Mytouch3g community grow so quickly...what do you guys think?!

Well I've had alot of people messaging me about converters for music, video, photos etc and I decided to just post up a thread for people to ask questions if they need to. Anyways, the best converter that I could reccomend, HANDS DOWN for any needs whether they be for your phone or not is the SUPERC converter which can be found here
With it you can convert virtually any media type into any other media type. For starters here are some steps...
1. Drag your file to be converted into the que.
2. Double click on it to bring up the detailed info.
3. Select the output you want from the drag down menu at the top left
4. Match up the info for the video and audio (if applicable) to the details you brought up about the clip. Yes this is a bit techy, but its really simple, just read and click on the buttons. If your framerate or bitrate doesnt match up, always pick the lower one. I.E: If you have a framrate of 96, and the options are 108 and 90, always pick the lowest of the two.
5. Just click convert! and wait until it gives you an output file size!
Yes it may seem a bit overwhelming at first, but its great to be able to convert anything into, well, anything. I use it for all my converting needs, and even if your not a techy person, even if you dont know what a bitrate is (shame on you! haha jk) its still a great program which is easy to use, whether you have circuit boards instead of brains or not.
1. after taking a picture, and clicking on the thumbnail to view it, have the phone let you view it in portrait, not landscape only.
2. on board image resizing, the 5, 3 and 2mp options dont cut it. let us choose 640x480(all MP's), 800X600(all MPs) 1024x768, etc..
3. when in camera settings, when you click back to get back to the options it closes the whole settings slider. which is annoying.
Ive been rooted for a while. I am going to root my friends phone. Its been a while since I first rooted and was wondering if there was a new way to get ROM Manager on 2.1 OTA. IS there an easier way to get ROM Manager on the phone besides flashing the SBF file which gives you SPR recovery , then flashing a rooted ROM, then installing ROM Magager, then finally installing the ROM that you really wanted in the first place?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought (and rec'd on Monday) the Seidio super-honking-big extended battery. All day yesterday and today (until I could get home and swap it out), I was getting false indications of low battery that would get "fixed" upon reboot, yet 2-3 hours later it would again indicate that it's low. Here's a thread on it in the regular Droid forum:
Battery meter won't accurately read the long-life Seidio battery.I'm holding out very faint hope that a ROM junkie might now of a work around. I'm currently intending on putting a rooted 2.1 on my phone, but I'll gladly deviate to something else if it'll fix this problem.
I did a search but did not find anything directly applicable to my situation. My apologies if I missed it.My Droid is currently running Android 2.1 update 1.I had previously rooted under Android 2.0.1, but I inadvertently installed the Verizon automatic system update, which took away root privileges. (Incidentally, is there a way to disable automatic updates? Before my slip-up, I had been canceling the dialog box for over a week.)I tried the method described in this post and it seemed to work, but I can't execute "su" from the terminal emulator console. I have the superuser permissions ninja under apps, but I also had it after the forced Verizon update. I suspect this is a vestige of the previous rooting.
I would be immensely grateful if someone could direct me to instructions on how to EITHER: A) download everything necessary to revert to 2.0.1, use the root exploit, and then upgrade to a rooted version of 2.1, OR B) root my current installation of 2.1.Also, if you could recommend a good ROM with wireless tethering, that's be icing on the cake.
I am interested in rooting my Droid X and I want to know the best way to to it on Mac OSX. Most of the tutorials out there are for the PC, can anyone give me a step in the right direction?
