[How-To] ROOT Your Nexus One without Unlocking the Bootloader. ALL ROM'S! - Google Nexus One Owners | Google Groups. Ok, I posted this on my Google Groups page where I was able to Tidy it up and update it easier. Sources credited and applied. I did this on 2 N1's. No wiping, no data loss, both T-Mobile with FRF91. No data loss, no wipes, no nothing. The only reason you will have to wipe or anything is if you want to put a custom recovery on it and a custom ROM.

General :: Rooting Without Unlocking Bootloader?

Oct 14, 2013

i want to know if it's possible to root an Android without unlocking the bootloader. My problem is I don't want anything wiped off the phone. I'm trying to get past the lock screen, because I found this phone in the street, so I want to get the numbers in it to try and return it. I've heard you can bypass the lockscreen if it's rooted. It's a Samsung Galaxy S Mesmerize, (or Fascinate).

Nexus :: One Click Rooting

Aug 10, 2010

Android Guys are reporting that the "one click" root program is no avaliable for the N1 (Universal One-Click Root Now Available for Nexus One | AndroidGuys). Can anyone confirm that this does indeed work without unlocking your boot-loader? My N1 is currently un-rooted and I think I am finally ready to root this phone. My biggest concern has always been that I don't have a good understanding of the root process and I didn't want to mess anything up. If this program really is "one click" then it seems like it's a no brainer. If I do go through with this "one click" root can I just follow the regular instructions to install cyanogen (I would like the ability to record HD)? Also do I still need to revert to an earlier build (running FRF91) to install cyanogen?

Nexus :: Wifi Problems After Froyo 2.2.1 FRG83 Update

Sep 30, 2010

The 2.2.1 update was supposed to fix the problem that causes wifi to disconnect when my N1 goes to sleep. As far as I can tell, I'm still having the same problem and it might even be worse because I've noticed that sometimes wifi disconnects even when the phone is plugged in, which didn't happen before.

General :: How To Unlock Sim After Unlocking Bootloader

Sep 16, 2012

I successfully unlocked the bootloader on my xperia x8 via flashtool put on custom kernel nAa 14 and miniCM7 Yay.Everything is fine apart that I want to change network because they have much better deals etc.I went to the 3 network shop and tried to put in the Sim, it took it in loaded but wouldnt register with the network , in fact I tried last week when I was on stock kernel and gingerxperia and it asked for ''unlock code'', today it didn't ask for unlock code took it in but wont register.I guess there must be some sim lock or something.

Maybe it is unlocked but something to do with Radio pehaps nonetheless my current Network works fine.here's my S1 LOG if any good. after unlocking BL of course

General :: Can't Flash Kernel / Unlocking Bootloader - Xperia X10 Mini (E10a)

Feb 7, 2012

My android is rooted and sim-unlocked by Omnius.

I manually installed ClockworkMod Recovery. (to do this I had to remount the /system folder as rw, don't know if this is important, but wasn't in the installation instructions).

PC companion says my firmware is the lastest

I want flash this kernel. I think I can't unlock my bootloader...

I followed this guide to unlock the bootloader, using FlashTool or msm7227_omniusSL.cmd. Both processes complete without errors... But when I check with s1tool, the erom version has an uppercase "R".

When I try to flash, FlashTool throws the error:

Code:
06/056/2012 20:56:22 - ERROR - ERR_SEVERITY="MAJOR";ERR_CLASS="SECURITY_CLASS";ERR_DYNAMIC="SIN header verification failed"

Here are my s1tool and FlashTool logs:
s1tool:

Code:
Welcome to S1 identify tool

[Code] .......

Both BL unlocking methods were repeted several times, with equal logs...

Android :: Loading Native Libraries - System Load - Dlopen - Nexus One After FRG83 System Update

Nov 17, 2010

I am an Android app developer, and I have purchased a Nexus One device which I use to continuously test my developed Android applications.

Background: ----------------- One of the applications I developed uses a native shared library (e.g. myNativeLib.so). Only my application loads & uses this native library. I had developed this app before Android NDK came out. I pack my native library into my apk's 'assets' folder, and during my application start- up, I extract this native library from my package's assets folder to my app private directory (i.e. <assets> -> /data/data/<myappprocess>/ myNativeLib.so). Then I use System.load() API in my application to dynamically load this native library.

Problem: ------------ This application was developed during Android 1.5 (i.e. cupcake) days {I didn't have the Nexus One then}. The above procedure has been working without any problems right from Android 1.5 to Android 2.2 (i.e. Froyo). I have also tested the same on my Nexus One for Android 2.1 (i.e. Eclair) and Android 2.2.

The problem began the moment I recently upgraded my Nexus One to Android 2.2.1 via the FRG83 system update. Now, whenever I try to load my native library, I get the following error:

D/dalvikvm( 3653): Trying to load lib /data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so <some address> I/dalvikvm( 3653): Unable to dlopen(/data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so): Cannot load library: link_image[1995]: failed to link <mynativelib>.so

What I have Tried: -------------------------- 1. I tried my application using Android 2.2 SDK (emulator)...it works, no issues. 2. I checked out the latest froyo & android2.2.1 source code from Android open-source, built & tested my application + native lib using the latest froyo source...it built & ran, no issues. This should've taken care of any changes in the native code dependencies between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 3. I even checked Android 2.2.1 source code for dalvik (java System & Runtime classes) + bionic (linker & dlopen sources) between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 (using source checked out from Android open-source), but couldn't find anything consequential 4. I am unable to return my Nexus One to Android 2.2.

HTC Magic :: Unlocking And Rooting From Rogers

Jun 10, 2009

I got my HTC Magic from Rogers almost a week ago and so far am loving it. Here are some of the issues or unknowns I found so far:

1. Found out you cant store and run apps from the SD card. That makes the SD card only half useful since it can only be used for music, vids, photos, etc. I hear the new version of Android might fix this.

2. I couldn't find anywhere information about the applications and whether they continue to run in the background after they are closed. Is there a way to close or kill applications? Should I even care if they're closed or not?..................

Samsung Galaxy I7500 :: Rooting And Unlocking ?

Sep 22, 2010

I live in Canada and I have this I7500L Samsung Galaxy (with BELL mobility) I want to upgrade with the newer androids 2.1 or 2.2.

I'm at the beginning of my journey here and still gathering and hunting for information. I've looked around and there are lots of tutorials but none of them answer my noob questions.

Do you need to have your phone unlocked or debranded in order to root?

Will rooting the phone also unlock it?

I've found a place where they guarantee unlocking of this phone but they charge 20$US. If I can root the phone and not having to pay for that it would be great.

So far in my research I've boiled down the overall plan to:
1) Root the phone
2) Pay for drakaz galaxyupdater
